After a year or two of mildly erratic periods, they stopped last year. I have had very few hot flushes or any other symptoms. (Not meaning to sound smug!) However, I have been on anti-depressants since 1997(!) and wonder if this may be a reason why I've got off lightly so far.

think it all varies, like periods some of us suffered bad ones, others were fine, I suffered really bad migraines when my periods were due, one of reasons for being on depo provera, plus mine were very heavy, so was hoping for an easier time with menopause huh!! x
i came into the world with nothing, and guess what? i still have it!!!:p

I'm 42 and started at 9, so have put in 33 years worth so far, I'm wondering how long left!

Is this still a hidden topic these days ? When we can discuss most other things? loss of libido? that went long ago..DH says he isnt that bothered either- works too hard ! A bit sad, but hey ho! OH!... and the last time it was very painful .. cream required now OMG !

Sorry I am meant to be sounding positive lol!

I thing it is very much a hidden subject especially around the loss of libido. I am really lucky that DH isn't bothered either as he has his own issue with erectile disfunction but I am not sure if this has partly been down to the lack of the aforesaid activity as I had the double whammy of the menopause and double spinal surgery which left lovemaking a challenge and he was so scared not to hurt me.

There is also the issue of hot flushes hitting in the middle

The last time we did try oestrogen cream which helped a wee bit. I think we are now going on for a couple of years lol. Never mind we still love each other to death and have lots of cuddles

Sorry if that is TMI but it may help other folk to know they are not alone

My first one started on 1st January 1970 (aged 12 and a half) and my last one in May 2012, so 42 years! (Wonder how much that cost me over the years!!)

I have absolutely no interest! I think it's as much to do with the anti depressants as with the menopause. Poor hubby.... :o

I wonder if anyone could advise please? I started my periods at age
    14. now 48, so I thought maybe I would be older starting the menopause. I have always had very regular periods every 28 days for 3-4 days. now for the first time(apart from pregnancy) I am 2 weeks late. this has never happened before always been so regular.
No chance of being pregnant either. OH had a vasectomy yonks ago and , well I just know it's not that. I also am having my usual period pains.
I have no hot flushes , nothing like that. just late period and feel really down but dont know why.

Mine started at 14 and the hot flushes and really heavy periods started at 47. I felt down all the time and worried about the future, ageing, my family, well, worrying all the time about everything. Night times are by far the worst, laying in bed with your own thoughts, waiting for the hot flushes to arrive. Every night I thought about my own mortality and of my loved ones. The pure feelings of dread that I have never ever experienced before...........frightening!

Things are a little better now. No periods for two years. I have nothing good to say about the menopause.
