hot flushes from menopause

I suffered with an earlyish meno and had the usual flushes/irritation/loss of memory, etc, but the worst symptom is a kind of brain fog, which is almost like sinuses, vertigo. Weird and hard to describe properly - the doctor says it isnt associated with the menopause but I find that it stopped when I started taking HRT and returns if I miss a few (memory never did come back
). Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I should be thinking of stopping HRT soon (I'm now 51) but dont think I can cope with this head fog.

What a relief finding an informative thread which still appears to be a 'taboo' subject !
I discovered that I too was menopausal (aged 48 and a bit) and for me, the worse was the violent mood swings, forgetfulness and hot flushes. Have had the mirena fitted for past 7 years (well past its sell-by date!) and need this changed asap. Just started a new job so feel I must wait a while before requesting time off ! Now take HRT (I just cannot cope) but GP advised that the mirena would be an excellent choice for me combined with taking oestrogen tablets to control the hot flushes. Suffer terribly with 'thrush' and 'dryness' and basically feel quite rubbish. Also feeling very anxious about having the removal and re-fitting of the mirena due to above 'dryness of the bits and pieces' ! .... glad that's off my chest, don't feel half as lonely about this now knowing that most of my symptons are 'normal' ?Opinions are like bottom holes, we all have one

My scarf arrived today. Followed the instructions, personally think you need to rearrange the crystal s BEFORE soaking, but really surprised at how light it is, even after oaking, which was a concern as I cant wear heavy things round my neck, even stuff in the pockets of a cardigan or waistcoat can throw my neck out.. been wearing it about half an hour and it's so comfy..
Last night was a 2 ice pack night, plus big fan on full bore and my usb fan, and this is without hot flushes. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
Shush...*whispers*....I think the sage tablets might be beginning to help a little!
Still getting hot flushes but not so many and they are more intense heat ( horrible) than very sweaty. Previously they were both. I'm not out of the woods yet but any improvement is to be welcomed.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -

A Vogel Menoforce 51g tabs.
Everything else I do/eat has remained the same.
Edit: make that mg !!! They don't seem very strong do they.
I take one morning and one evening so that overcomes the weakness of them.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -

I've been through it, had one summer of terrible nights, too hot put the fan on, too cold turn it off, too hot etc, etc. And my brain was mush, couldn't remember diddly squat. At work we use IDs of 8 numbers, could only keep the first 3 in my head and kept having to refer back. Really thought I was loosing it.
I took some black cohosh (?) combined with something else herbal tablets and it helped a lot. Guess I was lucky with my symptoms as they were quite minor.0 -
I have just read somewhere that eating liquorice is supposed to be good for all the symptoms.0
