Boyfriend wanting too many holidays

I don't think 5 weekends is excessive. I can understand your family being cheesed with cat sitting though.
I think you're using the cat as an excuse not to go away because you really don't want to be sitting around in a campervan by yourself while he surfs.. and I'd be totally bored myself I admit.
If you're staying on a campsite could you persuade a couple of friends to bring a tent, or another couple ? That way you could spend time with your mates while he surfs.
I'd take the cat - try sleeping with it in the campervan for a night or just playing with it in the van so it gets used to that - and harness. If cat hates both then I'd tell BF I want the cat sitting dosh
I don't understand your BF's lack of independence - unless he's somehow wanting you to police him ie if you let him go without you then if he strays with some surfer chick, in his head it's your fault for not going with him. Or else he's just clingy and needy.
So you've done 5 weekends for him surfing - how many weekends away have you had doing what YOU want ?0 -
Last year we left our two at home for two weeks and paid a young girl (aged 14 and with a supportive Mum!) £75 to come in once a day, check all was OK with them and give them food and water. She was delighted with the money and we knew our cats were much happier in their own surroundings than they were cooped up in a cattery.
OP I would find a teenager locally who would be happy to pop in twice over the weekend for a tenner and put down fresh food and water and check all OK.0 -
My 3, 19 year old moggy with hyperthyroidism tablets twice daily, 12 year old boy with epilepsy liquid medication three times daily and our healthy 6 year old ginger. Would regularly visit Grandma's for a holiday, whilst we spent 4-6 weeks away.
Since the diagnosis of feline epilepsy though we are staying put, that is until MIL can master the art of the towel straightjacket. We did have a bit of a nightmare in Peru, when the pensioner with hyperthyroidism decided she didn't like her tablets in salmon paste anymore but she soon got used to cheese triangles. I feel completely at ease leaving them with her, she has the number for the vets and the advice of my friend who is a vet nurse.0
