Boyfriend wanting too many holidays

  • What did he do before you met? Surely he hasn't just taken up the campervan and started going on hold since you got together? He must
have been going with other people too? Mates perhaps?

I wouldn't want to go away that much myself but apart from my cat I'm a bit of a homegirl. Are you sure it's just the cat? If you aren't keen on so many breaks how about you go with him 2-3 times a year and he arranges something with a mate a few weekends and of course a few weekends at home, that way everyone is happy.
  • Please don't take the cat, they are very territorial and would be stressed at being taken away, should it get loose it would be lost to you forever!
  • Oh I would imagine the cat would prefer being with its owner than left on its own tucked up in the campervan. My old cat would often jump in my car and come for a hurlie with me :j

It sounds to me as if his hobby is his campervan and surfing. That you are happy to share it is fine, but if it feels like a chore I think it reasonable that you reduce your commitment to this if you choose.

5 weekends in 7 months is quite a lot, it is bit like insisting a girlfirend attend each month an away match of a favourite team and make a weekend of it.

If it is his interest not yours, then its OK to say you are happy for him to go off with one of his pals to do it.

I have had a campervan, we loved it, but we could take our dog with us and our adult dd looked after the animals at home.

That's only once every six weeks!

Friend of mine has 5 cats & two horses, her job takes her away from home at, sometimes, up to a week at a time.
The horses are in a stables but the cats are left at home with plenty of food in a dispenser and have coped for years.
Go and enjoy life with him
(we're away next week on what will be my 6th break so far this year)

Her house must stink when she gets back! Or does she have a cat flap so they can go outside?

To the OP, get the bf to pay for a cat sitter if he's insisting you go with him.

We escape 1 weekend in 4 and I rope in all manner of people to feed my furry friends.

5 weekends in 7 months is hardly a big deal.. If there is no one else just leave a mound of food and go! Cats are very good at fending for themselves if they have too... though a cat sitter sounds a perfect solution

If its only for a weekend I would say leave the cat food and go away on with your bf and enjoy yourself, I really don't think 5 outings in 7 months is a lot at all

By hubby works away an awful lot and I don't think he had 5 weekends off in 7months

We have a caravan we can't get away in, and would give anything to do so, enjoy it while you can, I imagine there will be so many months of the year he won't be able to go surfing (weather, getting dark early etc?) Enjoy it while you can.

If you've got a campervan can you not take the cat with you?
