This is the reason we don't have pets.0

Not all cats are. I guess it depends on your relationship with your cat but mine are happy to travel anywhere I go as long as I'm there with them. They never stray too far from my side. They'd be more stressed at staying home alone without me.
Although I would never advocate this, I actually know of someone (abroad) who'd been adopted by a stray a cat but had to come back to the UK suddenly for family reasons. The cat had to be abandoned with a large bag of food (no neighbours to feed it) but when they eventually returned 3mths later the cat was still there! It was obviously a very resourceful cat and waited patiently for its family to return :rotfl:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Or does she have a cat flap so they can go outside?
Yes
Until ours died aged 16 we never had any problem leaving him alone for up to 3 to 4 nights, left plenty of food & water and a cat flsp0 -

Why the 'ROTFL' smiley? Leaving a cat that long is just thoughtless and cruel. Not a laughing matter.:hello:0 -

There's a difference between a cat that belongs to you and a stray that hangs around.0 -

Why is it? The cat had lived perfectly well on it's own before it adopted them. What on earth do you expect they should have done with it?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

It depends on the cat.
Mine was quite happy to accompany me away for weekends and longer on camping trips or visiting friend/relatives. He wasn't ever put on a lead and used to go off exploring wherever I went but never ran away.0 -
Nor do I, if aside from the cat you have no other responsibilities this is the time you can do these things. Unless you really don't want to go?
I used to work with someone who had a few cats, and she NEVER went away on holiday, the cats ruled her life.
In fact, when any of us came back and talked about our holiday, she would always start telling about how she couldn't leave her cats, and how they were worth far more than a holiday.
We don't have pets, simply because we wouldn't be prepared to give up holidays, weekends away, visiting relatives.

An animal comes first...
Really?? I have a very happy and well-treated cat, but prioritising him above the humans in my life would seem a bit silly.
OP, these suggestions have probably already been made but how about a neighbour, friend, or cat-sitting service?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
