Munchins - hiya - I have the kids club issue thing too - I put the money in a pot on a spend day at the start of the month and then pay it out of that as needed and count those days as sfds - someone else told me thats what they did when I first started and it works for meDebt free on the 28/05/130

Quick question.......So I'm going shopping tonight and was wondering how I know I'm going to be within my budget. What little tips do people have so they don't get to the till and find they are massively over budget?
How did you get on? I do the phone calculator thing too... It doesn't go well when I just shop!
In other news, budgets:
20 SFDs
Food £80
Spends £65
Petrol - not budgeting but tracking all spends - I don't drive much unneccessarily, I combine journeys as much as possible and the car is due a full service next week so hopefully it'll be getting maximum mpg after that.
I will be buying one proper luxury in July... My running shoes have holes where holes should not be, and are not quite as supportive as they used to be...
But I need to be really tough on myself, I am so liable to slip into bad spending habits. At least running is free exercise! (Apart from the shoe buying :rotfl:)“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

Hi 'Living the good life' - thanks for that. It would be easier to count it as 1 spend day rather than 4. Thanks:)0

Hi all
A good day for me. A NSD/SFD..
I realised I had run out of onions..but rather than use cash I used one of my c@@p vouchers..and of course that way they gave me money as change! £11.45 to be exact! I love it when you get a bag of shopping and they give you money to boot!
I also bought some fruit and celery for juicing...saw Kat's post and was inspired. Also some beers for OH...he was hard at work at the allotment today so I figured he needed a beer. All for free though so very pleased.
£4.81 income on the panels too..so all round a good start to the challenge!

Evening!
Well - like lots of other folks am bursting with enthusiasm and determination this month.
I got paid 27th June and so had done some shopping already pre month start, put petrol in the car and took a friend out at weekend - these have been added to my signatures. Is that cheating?!?! LolToday = SFD number 1
Am going to try that shake of yours Kat - sounds very cleansing!!! I use spinach all the time in mine because you can't even taste it - though all my shakes do end up an off-green colour lol. That's a great idea about yellow sticker strawberries!!! I usually buy 2 x 500g bags of frozen fruit for £4 (2 for £4) which lasts me a while... but I reckon if I could find a bargain like 40p strawberries, that would save me heaps!... Alas - usually the yellow sticker stuff I find is all unhealthy!!!
Will pray to the Bargain Fairy :A to send me some good stuff...!
Enjoy the rest of your evening folks!!!⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐

Evening everyone,
Well not a bad start to July, im one direct debit less this month as i cancelled daughter 3s gym membership as she rarely uses it, also no mobile phone bill as vodafone has overcharged me 2 months running by mistake and finally sorted it out. No birthdays either!! Daughter 2 made me lunch and going to daughter 1 for dinner tomorrow evening. On the downside no SFD for me as i gave way to temptation and bought chocolate buttonsbut they were very tasty
Hopefully a SFD tomorrow...
Total debt - £16,687.86 approx. - Paid so far - £13,156.30 - £350. a month to DMP - DFD 17/01/2019 But I WILL make it sooner!!0 -

Yes - still an SFD. Well done for having a car fund... very MSE!! :T“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Yes! Well done for getting it out of the way and paid!! ... :T“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. So I have just lost the most epic post ever. I am SO annoyed. I kicked the network cable out of my own computer. I shall post later after I have soothed my fury with a glance at the comical spectacle that is the Daily mail...... GRRRRR!!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Morning everyone!
It's a friend's birthday today and they are having an Indian, and I'd promised to go... I'm using money from my 'Yearly Fund' (currently £155) which pays for birthdays amongst other things, and am going to buy a bottle of wine with Nectar Points... so hopefully I can still count this as a SFD, right...? Or is it a Spend Day - but I just don't deduct it from my monthly allowance?
Sandwiches packed for lunch and raring to go!!!
Have a good day all
PS.
Lol Kat. The cat I live with usually does that for me!!! He's like, 'stop looking at the screen at give ME attention NOW!!!' ha ha!!!
