I edited my post to add more information, is that against your rules?

You may feel three week intensive training that you(?) received is extensive, I don't agree. You will know that of your three weeks much of that time is spent in the class room. In car driving is (usually) done with one instructor and three pupils in the car. IMHO there is barely enough one on one instruction to mitigate the risks inherent in response driving.

So just how much first hand knowledge/experience of advance driving have you got because to be honest it doesn't sound a lot, although I grant you you have been able to find a quote from one senior officer to back up your theory.

The 'extensive' work in the classroom equates to just 2 hours during the three week course with the rest of the time being spent out driving and having practical experience. It may be that there is one instructor for three students but I not only learnt when I was driving but I also learnt when my colleagues were being instructed.

I don't want to get into a !!!!ing contest comparing my knowledge, training and qualifications to yours. That is irrelevant to the fact that police drivers should never tailgate other road users as described by OP.

The OP did, I rest my case m'lord
Another one who seems incapable of reading posts correctly. The OP said, or even implied, no such thing. Try harder please.

I don't want to get into a !!!!ing contest with you either. I stated my opinion and you called me stupid, that is offensive.
I called your remark about police officer's not being the brightest bunch stupid.

    Probably as much as you!

No police force allows PC's who haven't had appropriate training to exceed the speed limit or be exempt from certain traffic signs. PC's with a basic authority can drive marked police vehicles but must obey all driving rules. The basic authority is given to people following a short assessment but without any extra training, but then they are not expected or allowed to drive their vehicles in any different way from the general public. PC's who have taken a 3 week response driving course are exempt from some rules and if judged competent will receive a standard ticket. They cannot pursue vehicles and cannot respond to jobs on the motorway. I won't comment on advanced drivers as I have not taken that course.

I have no desire to prove my prove my knowledge, training, experience or qualifications or interest in trading insults.

I did not say, nor do I think police officers are stupid. However, there are no minimum academic requirements which justifies my comment that they are not the brightest:http://www.police-recruitment.com/Police-Entry-Requirements.php and http://www.metpolicecareers.co.uk/eligibility_requirements.html

    Ladies, ladies.....?

BTW, academic requirements prove absolutely nothing, apart from having attained a certain standard of education.

Which in itself is pretty meaningless, given the noted lack of discipline with regards to basic abilities? [For example, being able to spell, or conduct basic arithmetic? Something sadly lacking even at University level?]
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Can't believe I've read all 7 pages. lol
One point that's been brought up time and again that nobody has covered is why the police car did not use the bus lane
Think about the natural reaction of most drivers when they hear or see sirens/lights? They pull over to the left. the highway code tells you to pull over also. the op pulled over as a natural reaction.
Undertaking isn't allowed in this country, so nobody expects it.
The most dangerous thing you can do on a blue light run is undertake, as people will pull left and hit you.

Also, police do not have an exemption to use bus lanes. Local policy generally means that the LA will not prosecute
Police exemptions on blue lights are speed, keep left bollards and red lights...that's it.

    And your point is...?

I mentioned standard drivers which is the experience I have and no one said that the OP was anywhere near a pursuit therefore knowledge of advanced driving is not required therefore an example about standard driving from a standard driver is fine (unless of course I am trying to discuss a serious point with someone who has no experience of anything apart from his own driving test and who keeps demonstrating his lack of knowledge).

    Who would that be then?

There are people better qualified than you are;)
