New thread as the other one was getting too long.

To clarify, the 40 days is taken from when the bank is deemed to have received your letter and cheque and is 40 straight days and not 40 working days.

If you have had no reply from your bank regarding your SAR request within their 40 day deadline you can try sending this letter by Rex_Mundi to your bank.

You can also and indeed should report the bank to the Information Commission, however as they are very busy handling these complaints they are sending out the complaints to the bank in batches on a monthly basis.

If you bank with Lloyds and HSBC you can download your statements online. Best advice is to camp on the doorstep of your local branch and/or phone HO/Customer Services/local branch daily until they get sick of you.

    As the above post...

    Hi all,

My husband had a credit card with these awhile back, so i thought i would go throught the process of seeing what charges were made against him. I sent the £10 cheque with the first template letter and i received the 5 most recent statements (showing in credit), the problem is they have not sent the last 6yrs statments and have taken the £10 cheque. My OH phoned them and they said they would be with us within 2wks as they needed to come off from the head office, well this was nearly 2months ago and we keep getting fobbed off!!! Can anyone advise me of what i should do next? it will be a great help.

Another little rant, im annoyed at how they sent the 5 statements as they just sent it out 1st class not recorded or anything.

i too am having problems getting copy credit card statements. I wrote to them over 40 days ago requesting copies and haven't had a reply. Admittingly, it doesn't help as i don't know my card/account number, but the account was only closed Jan 07 so it shouldn't be that hard to find my details and i have given them my full address/DOB/name/date account was opened/shut etc..........even when phoning them they can't help me as they can't find me on the system - any suggestions on what i should do next?

For kats8lives - Try looking at old bank statements with direct debit amounts - there is usually an account number used as a reference to identifythe customer - this may help in locating your lost account number.

For charlies82 - try contacting the financial ombudsmans and even the information commisioner - there are other threads in this forum with their addresses - I'm sure lloyds are playing foul so a lilttle reminder of the rules might not go amiss.

    Any suggestions please!!

I wrote to Lloyds TSB requesting a list of charges on my credit card. the 40 days have now passed.

Just spoke to them, and unless i can provide my account number (which i can't - but i did supply them with enough information to find me ie Full Name/Address/DOB/Date Account was opened & Settled) they can't help me. Any accounts closed over a year ago get archived and put on microfilm, the only way they can search my details is by account number. So now what do i do? I have nothing with my account number on?
  • Thanks Teacher2301, i will contact info commisioner now as it seems they are definitely playing us all for fools. Thanks again
