Morning ladies. PP sympathies to you. I am in a fair bit of discomfort myself. Walking is not fun and, yes I am going to say it..IT's TOO RUDDY HOT! My mum keeps telling me about the summer of 1976 when she was pregnant with my sister, and how awful it was/the roads were melting etc..I can now say I know exactly how she felt.

That bringng new mums back and giving a talk thing the NCT do, in my opinion is not a good thing.

That happened for my NCT group when I was pregnant with DS and to be honest it scared the living crap out of us . Most of the women wanted to embelish their stories of horror as much as possible, with one telling us childbirth was like 'imagine having someone smashing your bones one by one with a hammer':rotfl:

The NCT group leader had to tell her to stop as we all were turning pale.

Ridiculous..as if 1st time mums especially, need to be terrified by other womens over-dramatised birth stories. When it was my groups turn to go back and give the talk, I emphasised all the positive aspects and didn't go into any real detail. How exactly does it help?? Every birth is totally different.

Now then..should I worry? The office manager has just asked me how long I have left, and when I said 5 weeks she said 'oh goodness I would be very surprised if you go for another 5 weeks. Your bump is SO low!'.

She has had 3 kids herself so isn't a total novice, but doesd anyone think I should start carrying my birth notes to work with me?

    I'm so not ready yet!

Congratulations on all the recent births! It's scary how quickly I'm flying up the list and I'm not at all ready :(

My feet are huge and I'm starting to get quite uncomfortable now!
Stretch marks have just appeared. I didn't expect it to hurt but I could feel a burning sensation like my skin was way too tight, so I checked and there they were. I had been oiling religiously so hopefully I've minimised the severity (or wasted lots of money on oils!)

Do they fade after the birth, does anyone know?

    34+6

Yes they fade, you can see them still, but they are colourless. I used Biooil last time despite researching on the internet and finding out there is no evidence that products stop you getting stretch marks. It seems to be random who gets stretch marks, possibly genetic despite use of oils or creams. Biooil etc is supposed to help healing / fading etc tho. And using the creams does help to make your stretched skin feel better.
Anyway my friend who recommended Biooil to me cos she got no stretch marks has always had fluctuating weight. I've known her to vary between size 10 and size 18 so her skin may be less taut than mine was? Or it could have been that my baby was 2lb bigger, who knows! Anyway I got loads of stretch marks, mainly at the end of pregnancy when baby moved down. This time I'm just using a nice Body Lotion, Soap and Glory at the moment. Have some Biooil left from last time, will use that as well later on.

Welcome Flower08, yay for viability :j

MV, we all carry differently, doesn't mean anything, don't worry.

Well I'm officially a dope! Accepted invite to a celebratory meal out on Weds night 7:30pm. Organised babysitter, organised outfit ..... Then only last night realised that I may have a problem cos my glucose tolerance test is the next morning. Have to fast from evening before. Couldn't remember how long for- rang this morning and its 14 hours. So can't eat after 7pm....doh!!!! Oh well, don't mind missing it just hate cancelling on people at the last minute- but can't even drink a juice/ lemo so there is no point going. :o

  • I just noticed this interesting story on the BBC website about women's post pregnancy bodies and thought I'd share over here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23276432

Still no sign of the little one, but I am venturing out of the house today for the first time in ages to meet some colleagues for lunch, so have tucked a couple of pads away in case I've tempted fate!

Thanks also for all the encouraging comments when I was feeling a bit wobbly the other day!

fluffy.. I'd have rescheduled the GTT.. they can fit those in any time you'll only get the one opportunity at this night out.

It is too hot already.. my feet haven't deflated from the enormous proportions they got to yesterday.

Girls were rather late for school after I didn't wake up until 8:40... giving us 10 minutes to get them dressed and fed (obviously too stupid to do it themselves) and to school... needless to say it didn't happen!... 3 days left.. and as much as I hate the summer holidays I hate school runs at that stupid time in a morning more! ... why do they start school at 9??? it is ridiculous it needs to be at least a 10am start.

    Morning all!!

Anderson, glad all went ok with scan and they've sorted out a bit of a plan for you!

Baleb, how are you feeling? Did you get checked out? My bump was the same yesterday with a maxi on, bump was sitting so low i couldn't put my legs together when sat down, embarrassing!! DH thought it was funny though!

Good-luck today Girlzmum, bet you cant wait to find out when you will meet your Lo!!

Dida, did you think of something to talk to your DH about? They like to know the ins and outs of nappies and sick, honest!! Ha ha! You will just chat even if it is nonsense, think i probably do DHs head in with my constant yapping on all evening about goodness knows what. Not long for me now, struggling with the heat and sorting the other kids out. Sounds like you are a natural with the multi tasking!!

Re nipples, yep another thing that will never be the same again! Ha ha! its all worth it honest!!:D

PP, I am exactly the same with my hips and back, can hardly stand at times, and my feet and ankles look like an elephants, really feels as though they should split open, horrid feeling, glad i haven't had it before!! my DD finishes school the day before d-day!!

MV, mine is very low but no signs of going yet, will prob go over due as usual!! Agree with you about people and their scare stories, best to not listen and just keep an open mind, as you say all births are different and what one person thinks is bad another may not!

Hello and welcome to the new ladies!

Oscar, have a lovely day out today! Read that link, its interesting, im lucky i don't have any visible stretchmarks and not very many either but my Grandad always calls them battle scars which always makes me smile as i think its a lovely way to think about them really!

Fluffy, can you try and reschedule GTT or are you not too bothered?

    Mammoth post, sorry!!

Wow! So, I must ask, which do you prefer? Romford or Southend? Am I going to be okay in Southend? ;)
    x

I much prefer Southend. I liked Romford as I'd grown up there with all my friends and family, but there was never much to do round there really. Southend high street is ok, but the seaside is great obviously, and there's lovely parks, some nice areas to live in, and some very good schools. The connection into London is fab on the C2C line too!
And you can't beat a sunny day in Old Leigh :D

    Congratulations lovecake :j
I said mine look like orangutans nipples! They suddenly went massive and dark, and still are 4 months later :( not to be weird but I was proud of my little pink ones before! Tmi!

Someone once used the phrase "nipples like wagon wheels" which made me lol - too true :rotfl::o:(
