Just a quick check in from me - huge congrats lovecake :)

My last week of work today - woohoo. On the negative side I cried like a baby last night because I was so flippin' itchy it hurt and no amount of e45 cream was helping, does anyone have any other remedies that might work? Willing to try absolutely anything!

Aloe Vera gel but put in fridge first!

I'll try them both - I'm sure this isn't "normal" itching though but my bloods have been checked twice now so there's no point in bothering them with it again. I will ask the midwife on Thursday when I'm in anyway I suppose.

most aftersun contains aloe vera.. if you have any.. Do cool baths/showers help at all?

Claree I was the same with my oldest and I never had it with any of the others.. it is horrible. I had caladryl cream which was useless. I used to run body parts under the cold tap just to numb them. Oooh... Deep freeze cold spray.. like deep heat but cold!!!!! Well worth a try...

I've been signed off work now until my maternity leave starts, so no more work til next year :) just wish my back would stop hurting so much, my doctor wants me to go to physio, I can't think there'd be much point? Anyone been and think it helped? Xx

I haven't but a couple of women at the yoga class have been - just one sesssion each & said it really helped them. They have exercises to do at home which have relieved some of the pain.

Would you take an antihistimine? My GP prescribed them for hayfever.

Not at all - I was in the bath last night and it was just as bad as when I was out of it, which made things seem worse I think!

    TTC40 I'll give it a go!
  • just bought a washbasin and filled it with cold water. It's fantastic sitting here with my feet in the basin and much easier than a paddling pool!

    congratulations lovecake!

it feels like ive got ages still to work but I know its going to fly by in no time!
Itching - ive got eczema normally anyway, i like a bit of Eurax for it, it is safe to use when pg but it only comes in small tubes and it smells pretty strong! thankfully i havent had too much itching other than standard for myself (had it since I was born)

the heat at the minute has been awful for swelling, ive not had any swelling so far up until the last couple of days, hopefully it'll be less today since its quite a bit cooler here, im still going to go home and put my feet up anyway! (any excuse)

Baleb - ive been the same in the heat, it must just be keeping everything clean, but as others have said if ur concerned give the midwives a call, better to be safe!

Dida - thats quite some multitasking youve got going on there! im sure ur hubby will be glad of the baby updates, i bet hes missing being at home with you both!

I was big with DS2 and even though I asked they wouldn't scan me.

Ended up having a 'successful' vbac but in all honesty if they had scanned me and told me he would be a larger baby I think I would have had a caesarean. Because of what happened I ended up in theatre with a spinal anyway and all the hassle of a section (catheter, drip etc) with the added bonus of a badly damaged foof. DS2 shoulder also got stuck on the way out.

I don't mean to scaremonger as lots and lots of women give birth to large babies with no problems at all (my auntie had a 10lb 6 baby who just breezed out) but large babies can also lead to complications.

As with everything it's down to personal choice and you can never predict what will happen, I took a gamble and unfortunately in hindsight it was the wrong decision for me and baby, but nobody has a crystal ball. For lots of women vbacs are successful and it is the right choice.

I know how you feel with regards to vbacs as like so many women I felt a failure for not giving birth naturally the first time and wanted to experience that magical moment after giving birth that everybody talks about. To be perfectly honest though that 'magical' moment ended up not being so magical because I was pretty traumatised. In hindsight although DS1 was born in theatre I was in a much better position to take it all in and enjoy the moment. What I'm saying is don't feel too disappointed if you can't have your vbac. As the grass isn't always greener!

Scan went great and nothing too concerning, they just said bubs will be on the bigger side. Spoke to a doctor who advised me that if I've not gone by my due date and cervix isn't ready for a sweep then they'll give me another section as she doesn't want me going over for a big baby to get even bigger.
I'm fine with this but hopefully I'll go in the next week!

Thanks for the birth stories link nessie, now just have to bring myself to read it lol. Does anyone know when the new series of one born every minute is coming on?

Sounds intriguing baleb, are you wondering if it might have been your waters?

My belly button feels really weird today, very 'stretched', feels a bit numb to touch the area around it if that makes sense?!
