Another scan and monitoring session tomorrow, quite nervous as at each one they could decide to induce me within days. All quite nerve wracking especially since I am going alone tomorrow. They are all very lovely and supportive but I am still anxious each time I go.

Kynthia, you'll probably find that they have other things going on - one of my class had SPD, and I only found out later that one of them had some infection that meant they needed extra antibiotics. I never mentioned I had PGP because it didn't seem relevant.

But with such small numbers in a class, you'll always have a chance of ending up with a strange representation of the 'real-world'. For example, all 5 of the other couples in my class gave birth at 39 weeks! (I had to wait until 42 weeks :/) None of us needed c-sections, and only one needed forceps. I'm pretty sure those aren't the average stats.

Were another couple having a quiet NYE. Most of my friends are married or are starting to have babies now, so theyre doing similar, or I think generally just cant be bothered anymore! I used to go clubbing when I was younger, then me and DH did New York one year, and then Sydney when we were travelling, so feel that we've done it in style and now its time for a quiet one!

So I think we'll just watch a film and eat more of our Christmas snacks/chocolate we are currently munching our way through! And then watch the London fireworks and Big Ben on the tv and go to bed! Last year was a very depressing night for us so it also brings back bad memories now.

Rummer hope it goes well tomorrow!

We've never been big new years people, in fact I hate the thought of going out for it, it's never been fun when we have done something, too crowded and there's that weird clock watching that makes the evening drag

So we're going for our favourite plan- posh nibbles from m and s and good tv, maybe a star wars marathon :) usually we have champagne but my cousin's wife introduced me to rose schloer which is lush so I'll get a bottle of that to myself :)

Ooh I love schloer it's definitely my favourite replacement for champers!! The apple and White grape one is my favourite and I think it's on offer at tesco at the mo :)
Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

    Maternity leave fund: £3000/£6000 :T
  • LannieDuck not just a strange representation in terms of childbirth etc either... out of the 8 of us, we had 2 GPs, a nurse, 2 teachers, and a physiotherapist!

Thanks. I know it's silly and I know that we all probably have other things going on. I never mentioned the fact I was on ranitidine for 2 months in the second trimester and still take it often now, or that I'm on iron tablets. One girl was also having a planned caesarean for medical reasons and another was under consultant care but had recently been downgraded to low risk. It was just that I was visibly the 'special' one who was in pain, needed a 'special' chair, and felt sick.....and was the least pregnant. I was also the only one that had taken the full daily dose of paracetamol at some point in the pregnancy (I had a really terrible fever for days and the midwife told me too) although maybe I was the only one who admitted it. I prefer to feel like the gung ho, successful one in a group. Maybe I'm the type to struggle after the birth as I'm not in control like at work, and should be careful of the baby blues. :(

MPM - no but that would of made me laugh. :D

Kynthia, yes, it was a bit disappointing to end up needing forceps after no pain relief! The doctor asked if I wanted gas and air for the forceps and I told her to just do it! My baby definitely wasn't coming out naturally and I could have ended up with a C section as that was also mentioned.

Of my NCT group, one was induced after getting pre eclampsia and needed a C section, two had planned C sections and four of us needed forceps!

It's been great to keep in touch with everyone from NCT and we have a closed Facebook group where we ask each other for advice at strange times and arrange meet ups!

One of the girls from my hypnobirthing class was really good about practising all the breathing exercises regularly and listening to the CD, then her baby arrived six weeks early and her labour was only 90 minutes so she didn't have time to use the hypnobirthing techniques!

Kerri, relaxing your jaw is definitely a good start - amazing how it helps!

Ah kynthia, you won't struggle after the birth and there's no need to compare yourself to anyone else, every pregnancy is different.
Well done perceptive ladies noticing I am more upbeat, I was very worried that the CMV was a new infection as it can cause hearing, sight and learning problems, but I've been told it is an old infection (only took them more than a week to get this information to me!) so shouldn't affect baby but I guess he and I arent in the clear yet. I also got told that I may have another infection, the name of which horrifies me and I had a teary night assuming OH must've cheated and given it to me and I would have to take him to Jeremy Kyle for a lie detector, but the next morning the doc told me I didnt have it, so I have no idea why they thought I had it in the first place. Me and OH got tested early in our relationship and were both clear of STIs so I'd like to keep it that way.
Not long til NYE, a quiet night in sounds perfect. 8 of us were going to go a restaurant with belly dancers and I had reserved the table but not paid deposit, I've told the rest they can go but they said they don't want to, hope I haven't ruined their night!

Robotsindisguise - just reading back and wanted to say that I'm also on an aspirin daily to try to stop my blood pressure rising. I had higher blood pressure from about 30/32 weeks in my first pregnancy so they're watching it closely. I'd never had any blood pressure issues before and it went back to normal about 6-9 months after birth. Hope that helps reassure you. :-)

emz118 - I had the cabriofix for my son. It was great. Easy to click in and out. Comfortable to hold with the handle. Had a removable head support for when they're bigger. My son used it until about 14 months and then we moved to a Pearl which fix on our family fix base. This will then last until he's about 4. The cabriofix also fit on our bugaboo chameleon which made life so much easier! Hope that helps..... Wow this thread moves fast!

Could someone add my to the list too please. (I'm 24+6) Due date 14.04.14. Team yellow. Thanks ladies.... :-)
