We often have people here for New Year which is nice as it means I can enjoy the company and then slope off to bed when I am tired. However this year we are unsure as to what the plan is so I may be the driver.
The montessori approach has many positive aspects that we are going to use especially focussing on independence and choice. I have quite a few of the practical books now too but I am certainly not going to stick rigidly to any one approach.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
It really sounds like many of us have similar plans - tv and nibbles.
I hope to have a nice long walk with the dog on New Years Eve and Day - entertainment for DS that doesn't cost anything! We often pick up sticks and bits which he enjoys to play with out in the garden.
Been making thank you cards today and have baked some brownies. Two of my friends children coming over tonight for a sleepover so it will be noisy here tonight!
I am currently in my first year of Uni and my first hand in is January 6th 2014. I have written everything but it all needs a bit of tinkering so I am doing a little bit a night to break it down.
A friends friend has just been round as well and dropped off a sack of maternity clothes. They are quite a well of family and most of the clothes look very expensive - nervous about wearing them - she said I could have them as she is not having anymore children now, I didn't really look in the sac until she had left but they all look hardly worn. She also has given me a book on hypnobirthing and recommended it.3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

Re hypnobirthing - it is something I'm interested in looking into, does anyone have any real life experience of using it during birth? (I say real life because I know I could just go and read about it but it's not the same as hearing about the real thing!)0

It looks interesting - I think there are hypnobirthing classes. I will have a good read of the book. I think you have to have your birth partner aware of how it works as well to support you x3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

Is anyone else really breathless? I've been quite breathless for a good few weeks but this is a lot worse. Don't think it's how baby is laying either.First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140

I'm breathless too becca, think our lungs don't have as much room to expand. Got told by the nurse that I'm borderline anaemic too (I sung the Madonna song in my head when she said borderline) so maybe that's another factor for me. Im making friends with the hospital staff, giving my magazines to the girl who brings breakfast and squirting perfume on the lady who changes the sheets. Im on first name terms with all the midwives and I feel a fraud sitting there with my samsung tablet like lady muck while they all do 12 hour shifts. They offered me a private room, I might take it as I cant sleep at night with all the labour action happening around me. One lady gave birth in the hospital carpark, the midwives rushed out to help her!0

Yes Ive had it a bit, often when Im not actually doing anything - now Ive been told Im slightly anaemic I wondered if that was because of that or not or just coincidence.I'm breathless too becca, think our lungs don't have as much room to expand.:eek:
Id take the room! When I was in the hospital it was SO noisy, and way too light, I was so happy Id asked DH to bring me my eye mask or I dont think I would have slept a wink.
I had 2 ladies in my room - pregnant ones - I cried when they put me in a room with a 2 ladies who had babies, as I was worried I was miscarrying so I got a bit hysterical so they moved me after I asked and DH pestered them, but I could still hear babies crying every now and then down the corridor.
It was also not appreciated to hear midwives cackling with laughter at around 3am, the two ladies in my room having a !!!!! about that, and then at goodness know what time, the lady next to me started yelling in her sleep! She scared the carp out of me!0 -

We've signed up for a course starting the week after next. I read the book but felt that we needed the course to ensure we were doing it right.
I'm a nurse so I have a good understanding of what the body does during labour and hypnobirthing sounded to me like it was based on good solid facts. At our taster session the therapist did a practice exercise and I was so chilled and I'm a person who finds it difficult to relax.
I'm experiencing breathlessness as well- presume everything has been pushed upwards. Struggling with my spd pain and even walking round the supermarket is very difficult now. When I got up this morning felt like someone had stuck a knife in my buttock.April £5 a day challenge- £15.05/£1500 -
I was breathless and constantly tired and my blood iron and B12 levels were very low so I have been put on extra supplements, might be worth getting it checked at the docs.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I've had all that too claire, ive got an eye mask but woke up at 2.30am and someone had put all the lights on! I stomped to the light switch and turned them off, there are some dimmer lights, we didnt need the glare!
At the moment the lady to the left of me is 2cm dilated and will move to labour ward when she is 4cm. She is groaning in an orgasmic sounding way! She sat on her chair and her boyf jumped on to the bed, fell asleep and started snoring, the midwives soon got him off and told him to go home for a bit. The lady to my right is 24 wks and very itchy, she has jaundice and possible liver problems. I'm sure they all know my problems too, no privacy! I would move to the room but I don't want to be forgotten, ive already been here 8 days and I was joking that I was feeling institutionalised. They're going to scan me on Tuesday and on Friday I'll have a scan at University College London hospital and my hos will arrange transport. I'm being treated very well so far I must say!
One kind of positive thing is my sister came to see me last night with a mutual friend, we fell out a few years ago and haven't spoken since and the very thought of her would have me stressed and trembling but we kept to neutral subjects and it was nice she made the effort to reach out to me. My blood pressure was higher than usual after she left though, any connection??0
