Good luck tomorrow Samtoby
I'm still having contractions and they're appearing to get stronger, I'm so excited but have sent OH off to bed anyway not letting on to him that baby could be on the way tonight as he needs his sleep. Definitely getting period cramps in waves now but I know it could be hours yet. Still doing my breathing exercises and remaining as chilled out as possible. I keep poking her foot to let her know I'm still awake and she's not being squished by contractions without me knowingDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Delurking to say good luck for tomorrow samtoby and hello to all the new joiners from the 12-24 week thread.
I've not had much spare time this holiday so struggling to keep up on the thread. We've gone from staying put in our 1 bed flat to planning a move at 34 weeks to a 2 bed place in a town half an hour away. In some ways it'll be good to get it over and done with... In others I'm a little worried its a lot of stress so late on. Eep.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
Thanks, I've seen that too, although was given the impression that the Medela bottles were maybe too tall for it?? Anyone have any experience on that?
You're not supposed to use formula with the Medela Calma bottles as it blocks up the teat apparently. It's fine to use formula with the Haberman bottles though.
I've seen the Medela Haberman bottles but they're just for special needs babies aren't they?
Expressing is hard work! I've struggled at times with an up and down supply - sometimes I've had three bottles in the fridge while other times I've been pumping then feeding straightaway.
I had blocked ducts in both breasts recently and had to supplement with formula as it's coincided with a growth spurt for my little one.
I've been drinking Neuner's nursing tea but am thinking about trying fenugreek capsules to help my supply.
Good luck samtoby and kerri!0 -

BigZippy, any links to essentials to have would be great. It's hard to know whether to buy a breast pump when I don't know how successful I'll be at breast feeding, and I don't want to buy the formula prep machine in case I do well at the breast feeding. So I figure I'll buy about 6 bottles that can be used either way and then see what happens. I'm thinking I need a bouncer, mat, bedding and clothes too. I'm assuming the cot bed, monitor and high chair can wait a while. I guess the nursery decorations can wait until the house completes.

Those are the 2 I have in my phone that I think we're posted on here at some point.
For me, initial essentials would be say :- 10 x vests/body suits (0-3m, newborn isn't essential - it just looks better on smaller babies
)
- 10 x babygros/sleep suits (preferably with the fold over mitten bit so you don't have to faff with scratch mitts)
- A hat or 2
- Cardigan or 2
- Snowsuit/pram suit/coat
- Couple of (cellular, they don't recommend fleece etc until baby can relate temperature better) blankets
- Moses basket/crib/cot/something to sleep in
- Sheets for the something to sleep in
- Muslin/burp cloths
- Car seat and/or pram
- Nappies (I'm starting with disposables and considering washables after the newborn stage, when they fit better and I have more idea how I'd tackle the washing)
- Cotton wool (wipes aren't recommended straight away although there are some 'pure water' trial packs in my hospital bag)
- Means of feeding- breastfeeding/formula/combination
Once you've got something for them to eat, sleep in, wear and travel safely in, the rest is just about convenience for you in particular, IMO
Highchair is only needed once they start on solids around 6 months (or once they can sit up and you want them up higher). Monitor and cot bed aren't needed til baby isn't sleeping in with you, assuming you get something else to sleep in first. (Be warned that some babies grow out of Moses baskets in 6 weeks though).
Hope that didn't come off as know-it-all!It's just my thoughts and what I've gleaned from others etc.

I empathise with your expressing/supply issues. I can only imagine... I've heard good things about fenugreek though. No way would I be able to cope with the tea though! _pale_ The Americans seem to have better options for helping supply than we do - including cookies!
ETA: keep us posted kerriI so hope this is you and I'm a week behind you

Ohh 3 of us on the same day, how is it l have only just noticed this? Thanks for the updated list BigZippy! You will all be pleased to know that nesting kicked in with a vengeance today and so far I've managed to fix the downstairs toilet, put up a couple of wooden signs, sorted the dishwasher, tidied up & hoovered the lounge, bathed the dogs and ran a damp cloth over the hallway floors. Oddly I'm looking forward to tomorrow and what crazy nesting ideas l will have but i think this is mainly down to the fact I usually find forgotten & loose change.
With regards to the video baby monitors me and my dad had a very lengthy slanging match /disagreement over this (l live at home still & am single mom) - anyway he said l should have one as he's read so many good reviews about them but I point blank refuse to have one for the exact same reason I refused to have a heartbeat monitor. l would be constantly using it, l would never get any sleep as I would be constantly looking at it and l would also be terrified of seeing something scary on the monitor lol
Kerri- Massive good luck to you hun, I've got my fingers crossed its the real deal and all goes well for you. Keep us posted when you can.
Welcome to all the newbies and lurkers that have joined us. Hugs and best wishes to those that need them.
