I seem to have become very pregnant over the Christmas break, really struggling to get comfy at my desk today! :( My bump is in the way and my back is killing me. Le sigh. At least I only have 12 working days left! :)

OH asked me yesterday what I'm planning on doing with my ML before the baby arrives and apparently just resting isn't enough?! :p I've got some crafty things to work on, such as finishing our wedding scrapbook (nearly 3 years after we got married! :o) so will enjoy doing that. The only pain is that OH works lates so is hanging around until 1pm, I never feel like I can actually get started with anything until he goes so miss out on my entire morning every day. At least I won't be complaining about him being around so much once the baby's here! :)

    Good luck Sam.

Kerri, how are you doing this morning? My NCT teacher was telling us about trying to stay home where it's nicer and more relaxed until your 6-7cm. It's just a shame you can't know your dilation yourself before leaving home.

Bambisbelle, your crazy cleaning decisions made me laugh. Why a damp cloth for the floor and not a mop? Is that natures way of getting you on all fours, a good labour position? :)

Claire, thanks. I do think pnd is something we should all mention to our partners and talk about with each other. I think it will be less of a shock if we acknowledge the possibility beforehand, and I wonder whether being older, and therefore more used to my quiet and organised life, will make the chaos harder to take. Even not working for a year is hard to get my head around, even though I'm looking forward to it. :)

Bigzippy, thanks again for the useful post and links. My parents will be buying us an Uppababy Vista and related car seat, and we have a donated Moses basket and crib. Therefore sleeping and travelling will be sorted, although I need to sort new mattresses and bedding. Apart from a few bottles I'll hold off on other feeding items for now, although what sterilisation methods do people prefer? I like your thoughts about the nappies as we want to use reusables too but they're a large upfront cost and some people have trouble using them on newborns. I think we will focus on clothes, smaller items and maybe a mat and bouncer today. Now we just need to find nice stuff that's team yellow. :)

:rotfl: Let's just say me and the mop had a minor disagreement and it died a death. In other words I broke it then threw a tantrum :rotfl: pffft it didn't clean half as well as what me and the cloth did.

Kerri - booo to the easing off of contractions, fingers crossed for the next couple of days. Thanks for putting up info on the self examination, I can now check myself over without having to feel like a prize prat cause it's another false alarm:rotfl:

Good luck to everyone having their scans/drs/midwives appointments today. Let us know how it all goes.

  • Hello everyone. I hope you all had a nice Christmas, I still come on here every now again and see how people are getting on.

Birdie - I finished all my craft projects, including our wedding album (we got married in 2011) when I started maternity leave and I'm so pleased I did. I clearly didn't think I had time to do these sort of things seeing it took me so long to get it finished but no way in hell do I have time to do stuff like this now.

Re moses baskets, we weren't going to have one as heard so many people say they didn't use them for very long. In the end we got one second hand for £10 and just got a new mattress for £10 and Scarlett is still sleeping in it and she's 12 weeks old now. She sleeps with her hands either by her side or up near her face which is probably why we're still able to use it for her.

Here is a photo of her at Christmas, hope it makes you all smile and brightens up your day a bit. It's definitely dull and gloomy weather wise where I am.

    Have a fab 2014 everyone.

Mine too, I had round one of tears because OH wouldn't get up when I wanted him to, and now round two has started as I'm watching Gary Barlow in Afghanistan!!

Keeping one eye on the news for Schumacher, he is a legend x

I cried at that programme too. DH used to be in the army so anything army that's emotional sets me off! His aunt was in one of the front rows at the concert we saw her pics of Gary a while ago but couldn't spot her on the tv.

My plan is to today order 3 photo books from photo box before their sale ends, then I've got 3 months to compile all our travelling photos - also from 3 years ago!

I've got my 28 week midwife appt soon, haven't seen her since 16 weeks as the gp does the 25 one here. Feeling really queasy this morning.
  • Oh Jox, you do a have a lot on your plate but it's really good they're keeping you in and monitoring you. Best place to be, it would be much scarier being at home not knowing what was happening or what could happen at a moments notice. A friend of mine had to be rushed in when she had sudden bleeding from low placenta. Hopefully that won't happen to you but at least you know you are already in hospital where they could help you immediately. My placenta has moved away from the cervix but I don't know how far. Got another scan next Monday. I've got the opposite problem with GD - my little boy is getting too big so he'll get measured next week too.

OMG Kynthia - I wouldn't feel nice and relaxed if I were at home till 6-7cm without pain relief. I went to hospital at 5cm doubled up in pain!

I've ordered about 350 photo prints from previous holidays and stuff that I can put into albums so I'll be doing that after/alongside doing my wedding scrapbook. :) I just hope baby stays put long enough for me to get these things done! ;)

Scarlett is so cute Continual! :D
