I'm a small person I'm only 5'3'' and 7 stone when I got pregnant although Im now 8st 5 the last time I looked. I do have quite good stomach muscles.
The thing is if they used my dates, then the measurement would be fine. Its just that they insist on dating me 6 days ahead on paper.
So its more that it doesnt seem to have changed much since my last visit - although I feel that it has, my stomach feels a lot bigger, clothes getting tighter etc
I might see how I feel over the next couple of days and if its still panicking me, I might text her and ask if I should have a scan to put my mind at ease.. I kind of wish Id just said 'well can you send me for one anyway' as at least then I might have got one this week.0 -
I wouldn't worry too much Claire, surely there's an element of how far forward baby has pushed themselves etc that will make a difference to measurements. If you're worried and have the option of a scan, I'd take it. Otherwise is there a drop-in clinic run by your local midwives that you can pop into a couple of times over the next couple of weeks so they can keep an eye on your measurements?Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

Claire- Please try not to panic about this, easier when someone else is saying it I know, up until my last visit to the midwife before Christmas l was measuring exactly as l should and then last visit I'm measuring a week behind MW said it could be down to way the baby is laying however she's still sending me for a growth scan on the 2nd, she didn't seem concerned as it seems small babies run in my family (along with early babies)

Hi, can I join you all over here?
I'm 24+1 with my second baby. I also had a MMC in January this year. My edd is 20th April, which is Easter Sundaywe are currently team yellow because the hospital here won't tell you the sex at the 20 week scan, but plan to have a 4d scan in the next couple of weeks

Just read back, Claire please try not to worry. Fundal height is notoriously difficult to measure as different people measure it differently. My midwife told me that all the midwives in our area were due to be sent on a course teaching them how to do it as they all did it differently! It sounds like you have a slender frame anyway so it might just be that baby is positioned in such a way that they are "hiding" xxxMammy to 2 boys aged 5 and 20

No unfortunately not. Its annoying its not really a measurement you can take yourself.
Having said that, there is a phone number for community midwives, so I could perhaps call that in 7 days, and just ask them if I could come in to be measured I think theyre at my small local hospital?
Or I could perhaps text my midwife next week and ask her if I could come in for 5 mins for her to do it (she only works one day at week at my gps surgery). I know once when I was in an appt, a lady rang worried about something and she let her come in so she could check something.0 -

I do remember at the last appt, I was either having a braxton hicks thing or the baby was right at the top as my tummy was rock hard on one side and I was actually thinking to myself hmm I wonder if this will make the measurement bigger.
Whereas this time the baby/my tummy wasnt doing that. So yeah perhaps that has contributed too.
The baby gave her a good kick when she got the doppler out
I feel a little better after some googling and reading everyones comments, I guess Ill just have to keep an eye on movements and perhaps next week give someone a ring.0 -
I've just text her to ask if I can come in next week and she could measure me so I'm not waiting 3 weeks. Will see what she says.0

Mancbird - You're more than welcome to join us over here we're a friendly bunch here. I've never heard of a hospital not telling you at a 20 week scan unless they weren't able to see? Although l have to admit it does scare me that they have got it wrong lol though its pretty impossible as she stuck her bum in the air :rotfl:
Anyhoo pull up a chair and get comfy lol

If it helps, they haven't measured my bump even once!!! I was overweight when I got pregnant but through carrying on with Slimming World carried on losing weight for about 14 weeks.
My weight along with my Dad having diabetes means that I am shared care, so had GTT (No GD though, so that's good!) and have 3 extra scans.
On 12th December I saw the midwife (I've seen a different one at each apt so far) who asked if I'd been measured, when I said no, she saw I had a growth scan on the 19th and said "Well, you'd just as well wait a week because a scan is going to be 100x more accurate than me with a tape measure!!!"
On 19th December, according to my scan, baby was measuring about 8-12 days ahead, but at 30 weeks they were happy as long as baby was measuring within 2 weeks.First date 10.2.2002
