Hi sunshine81, I was just about to write a post to ask kerri if she could recommend any website about Montessori as I would like to learn more. kerri - any links would be kindly appreciated.
Did anyone find the sleep fairy for me earlier? Hoping for at least 4 hours sleep tonight, fingers crossed. I've had a bath and I'm chilled out so fingers crossed xx

Sam, you don't need a urine sample for you scan. Also don't have an empty bladder as the baby drops very low then. I hope it all goes well for you.
Those talking about bras, I've read that 36 weeks is a good time to be measured for a nursing bra as your rib cage will be a similar size to early post pregnancy. I found a lovely soft maternity bra in JoJo Maman Bebe but it's not cheap.
For those who think they might have PGP (SPD) then see if you can get referred to a physiotherapist. In the meantime I was told to keep my legs symmetrical so no sitting with one leg bent under me or crossing my legs. Also avoid putting all my weight on one leg, so sitting down when getting dressed/undressed, avoiding climbing up anywhere, and sitting down to get in and out of the bath. Also to avoid lots of walking, running, long strides, etc. I've even been told to avoid yoga, however I don't have the SPD type with a painful pubic bone so some of this may not apply to everyone. Thankfully I don't get lots of pain when sleeping but for those that do a soft mattress is recommended, although you can sleep on a doubled up duvet. Also I've read that putting a pillow between your knees can help.
Jox, I hope things are going well for you.
Becca, if you can't borrow a crib from someone and the cot doesn't fit in your room then many people move the baby to their own room early.
Con, I had the same issue during a cough I was suffering from a few weeks ago. Thankfully once the cough went so did THAT issue. It was embarrassing though.
AFM, we have our NCT class tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous. What should we expect, do I need to take notes, will it be too hot, are drinks provided, will it be too tiring being 7 hours long? Also what will we learn???
Also our house purchase is going well, just waiting for a few enquiries. Might need to get a CCTV drain survey but I doubt any findings would be a dealbreaker as I want to move in soon.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
We kept DD1 in our room for 6 months, and the room was too small for a cot. When she outgrew her moses basket (pretty early - maybe 2-3 months?), we moved her into a small travel cot (like this one: http://www.kiddisave.co.uk/hauck-dream-n-care-travel-cot-zoo.html?gclid=CJL_94X907sCFbGWtAodpBoA1Q).
When she learnt to sit up, we had to move her into her nursery/big cot because the small travel cot wasn't safe anymore, but that got us to about 6 months.Mortgage when started: £330,995

I really like this blog - it gives you a good overview and shows how the nursery would evolve. There are some gorgeous pictures too!0 -
There are a number of great Montessori resources out there including:
How we Montessori
Montessori on a Budget
Both of these have recommended reading lists too. If you are keen to make the toys Kerri recommended a couple of good wood websites:

Thanks Rummer, I haven't seen the Montessori on a budget site before. Is it easy-ish to make the toys?0 -

Frugalbride - I stole the idea from Rummer after she told us about Montessori. We've got a few different Montessori things in baby's room, including a toppocino and some homemade Montessori toys. OH has just finished sawing the pieces of wood for me to sand & paint to make the Manuri mobile and I'm just finishing a high contrast black & white quilt to use as a portable movement mat. It's pastel colours on the other side so she knows that the high contrast is for play and the pastel for sleep.
All sounds fab! You and OH sound really creative. I'm getting excited to plan my nursery now.0 -
I've been typing this while catching up, so some of it's probably repeating what others have said/replied with, but I've done it now, so you'll just have to wade through

B xxHi everyone,
I am currently 19+6 and was on the other thread but have decided I can't take anymore of the conversation over there, so I am going to lurk around here if thats ok.
Would you (and any of the other de-lurkers - Robots, Sunshine, etc) like adding to the list? If so just post your EDD and what "team" you're on and either me or one of the other ladies will do the honours - unless you're feeling brave and wanna tackle the HTML yourself of course!
Good luck with your scan on Monday SamtobyRobotsinDisguse wrote: »um, hello... i'm another refugee from the 12-24 week thread. But I only posted once there as i'm only just 13 weeks and havn't had a good week. samtoby suggested I post here, i hope that's ok? I really would like some reassurance if that's at all possible? And at the very least it might help me to write this down and get it out of my head.
*Edit: sheesh, i've written a lot. Sorry. This is bad as it's my first post on this board. I really am very sorry. I probably come accross as a worrier - which i am! sorry about thatDon't worry about long posts/first posts/how many weeks you are or aren't!
You're entitled to a) worry about your health b) worry about your baby (we all do it!) c) worry about the care that your (rather unhelpful in this case) consultant etc is giving you! But don't worry about voicing those things on here - that's what we're here for
With regards to the consultant - you can specify who you do/don't want to see, but you may have to wait longer on the day to see those specific people. I've been "under" the same consultant throughout but have actually seen 3 different doctors on the day - one for each appointment. I would say you're unlikely to see the same unhelpful one again, but it would be worth at the least taking note of that one's name and asking not to see them again. You can call "your" consultant's secretary in advance of your next appointment to see if they're actually in clinic on the day you go, so you can specify on the day that that's who you want to see (I've done this before, it can be quite helpful) - I suspect you actually saw one of their (for lack of a better word) 'underlings'. Either that or you did see the consultant themselves and you can ask to see a different one. At our hospital there are a number of them and depending on which day of the week you go, depends on whose clinic it is on that day.
You can complain about them/your treatment to PALS or the superiors etc, but I know from my own experience I've never felt I had "whatever it takes" to do that.
I would suggest not booking other things in for the same day as future appointments though - I've never found it to be a quick/in-out/punctual experience! I think it would add to stressing me right out if I was clock-watching too (I have anxiety issues too). I would always take someone with me that is calming too. Set yourself up for the best possible level of calm.
If your usual (though at this stage you probably don't 'know' her much yet either - and to be fair it took til about 28wks for my midwife to be consistent!) community midwife is someone you're fine with, I would suggest you call her and ask her to refer you back to see a different consultant sooner rather than later, cos you have some issues you'd like clarifying?
As for the down syndrome thing, sorry, I can't help there.
You have my sympathy though - I know what it's like to have anxiety issues and have someone push every one of your buttons! It sucksWhen you get someone that understands - and I believe you will - it will make such a difference. Mine arranged for me to have an impromptu private one:one tour of the Materity unit cos I was freaking out about going round in a group of strangers etc.
Hang in there.
Re Moses baskets, my parents bought ours, from T3sco direct but historically speaking, the likes of Azda do them for c. £25 in the baby events.
Becca: about baby not fitting in the moses basket for the whole 6 months, I think I plan to just transfer to cot at that point, but I'm hoping that'll be around 4months rather than earlier. The other alternative though is the travel cots (there are smaller versions too, if space is an issue) with a higher setting for younger babies... Worth considering?
Sam, I had to take a pee sample to my 20 week scan appointment day but only because my consultant appt was scheduled for the same day, just after. Otherwise they wouldn't've asked.
I think they're cruel making you have a full bladder for the 20 week scan though! Mine said it didn't need to be full, or empty, just to drink etc normally
Teamlowe, I'm pretty much going with the motto of I know all I need to know for now, anything else can be a pleasant(!) surprise
MrsBunny, I'm on the hunt (in the laziest, waddle-ist way possible) for the sleep fairy too
AFM: what is it with clueless family members who don't get that randomly saying - when you're full term and not in the humour - that they're thinking of coming to stay within the next few days?!Not even asking, is it ok/convenient etc. Just presuming.

Montessori sounds very interesting.
My hospital are being very cautious with me, blood pressure and temperature and baby heart monitoring 3 times a day, it is lovely to hear baby's heart but it all seems a bit excessive though I'm being a good and obedient girl!
The doctors have said they'd like me to get to 34 weeks before the c-section so that's next Thursday, but staying in hospital for that long when I don't feel there's anything wrong with me is bizarre. Oh well, 3 meals a day, bed changed for me, lounging in my pjs all day isn't a bad life, but I'm missing hubby every night, and he's suffering without me. We'll get through this and hopefully have a healthy baby at the end of it (but I can't stop the negative fears creeping in as well...)0 -
An alternative I've been considering for when DD outgrows the moses basket is an ikea cot - they're smaller than standard cots so would fit into our bedroom easier.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0
