I had a caesarean first time, so i'm quite looking forward to the labour. I want to experience the moment that everyone says about where u forget the pain because you have your baby.

If it was that bad people wouldnt have children, or those who did would stop at 1.

Plus if it's that bad, i'll have drugs :) theres no medal for a drug free childbirth, so if i feel i need it i'll have it!

I totally agree - I have almost forgotten the pain....and I certainly can't remember what a contraction feels like....your body seems to erase any bad stuff! Also like littleskintdragon says - if you get to the point of wanting no more pain...there is always a get out clause - I even asked to marry the guy that gave me the spinal block in theatre!!! ;) (the worst pain has been the piles afterwards.....I would go through the 11 hour labour over and over....if it meant that I didn't have piles! LOL!).

Baby has actually been kicking hard enough today to be seen from the outside, has kept me & Dh amused watching my belly vibrating and moving. I'm sure when it gets painful the novelty will wear thin but loving it at the moment :)

Is it just me that's baffled by the choice of prams/ travel systems/ car seats?

Went to a local retail park earlier where there is a Kiddicare, M&P, Mothercare - too much choice!

The price range is just so massive too.

I'm normally a decisive person - but this has got me beat!

My advice.. go somewhere they won't try forcing you to buy their own brand.. a place with a range of brands, such as Kiddicare, will give you far more impartial advice than M&P or Mothercare who both try forcing you to buy their brand. From my experience Mothercare prams are cheap and shoddy, silvercross are no longer deserving of the reputation their name used to convey.. they aren't wonderful now either. I actually do like M&P pushchairs but it depends on your needs really. Our M&P got shirty when I wanted to try the pushchairs out.. that put me off big time.

O yes we were baffled by pushchairs too. In the end we decided to visit kiddicare after going to mothercare. we watched a lot of videos on the kiddicare website before we went which gave us an idea on what we wanted (one that would fold up small to fit easily in our boot!). Found the lady in kiddicare very helpful she showed us all the ones we were interested in, how to fold them down and put them up, and tried one out in the boot to check it would fit ok before we ordered. In the end after looking at expensive ones we went for a kiddicare own one, as with 15% off offer it was down to £140, we just had to buy the car seat adapters & car seat separate as we didn't like the look of their own car seat (plus we wanted an iso fix one for ease which theres wasnt). We went for the fizz one in purple, looks lovely and found it easy to fold down and put back up, which we didn't manage with all of them lol so we took it as a sign!

Bugaboo all the way. Expensive but worth it.

I didn't bother testing any prams or car seats! Instead I looked at reviews online from others who were much more qualified than me (as in...they had a baby and were using the said equipment!). I bought both online and only got to test them when they arrived - some might consider this stupid but I have no regrets at all about what I bought.

I went for the Obaby Zezu (which I got for a superb price in the Boots sale) and the Maxicosi Cabriofix - which is rated as Which?'s safest babycar seat. I can't fault either system especially now I have found adapters so that the carseat goes on the Zezu's base. The pram was just over a hundred quid and the car seat was £75 (but I see Lilymay has found it even cheaper! :T). So if you are confused - just look for reviews online from people who actually own prams/carseats. Also remember expensive doesn't always mean its the best. My Zezu is absolutely superb and a fraction of the price of some of the more "designer" prams!

An9i77 - we liked the bugaboo cameleon 3 the best but its so expensive. I could justify it more if we were planning on another baby after this one but we're not. It does tick every box for us though and kiddisave had it in the royal blue that I like, with 15% off inc the car seat.

Superb price - I have this and its fab - there's a built in shade in the back too! (I paid an extra tenner - so this is a fab deal - its Which?'s safest baby seat too!). I would recommend splashing out on the Familyfix Isofix base though - this will bump the price up - but its so easy to get the seat in and out of the car - and when you have finished with it - you can get quite a lot of the price back selling it secondhand on Ebay!
