Oh man - how can I be no 2 (ok it's joint with Anderson 8, but still!).
I don't feel ready for the responsibility of motherhood or the pain of labour and am so emotional that I am on the verge of tears a lot of the time...0 -
*panic*
If I were on the list I'd be number 20...

Oscar_the_pug - sorry to hear you are worrying about labour etc. unfortunately people tend to want to give you their horror stories in real life! I was 3 & a half hours with my first - I was a tiny size 6-8 and only 20. I was scared too but tbh only the last hour was painful. With my second, I was just under 2 hours. It does hurt but you're pushing a beautiful new life into the world and if I can do it, anyone can - I can cry at having an injection lol (I absolutely hate them!!). I've had pethidine with both girls and it made me feel like I was asleep but could hear what everyone was saying, I came around when the urge to push kicks in. My mom gave me two great bits of advice before having dd1 - if it's as bad as some women say, why do they have more than one child? And secondly: when you feel the urge to push, give it 100% the first time! Some women get real tired pushing baby out. I'm not assuming this little man will be as easy as our girls but at that point, you don't care how he gets out as long as you're both healthy at the end. You'll be fine. If I could give birth for you, I would; there is no other euphoric feeling like pushing baby out and seeing them and holding them for the first time. XxxDD1 June 1997

Have you read the birth stories on here? I found they helped me get an idea what I was in for. I've also just updated mine 4 months on!
Do not be scared, you get to finally meet your lo!!
4 months on I can't tell you what a contraction feels like but I can tell you how it felt holding my lo for the first time! 22 hrs in labour... But it was worth ithope this helps

Try not to worry, it's natural to feel like this. This is baby no.2 and I still have feelings like this. It's true, I can't even remember what a contraction feels like. Once your baby is here everything will slide into place and it will feel like the most natural thing in the world.
Congratulations Nikkiann!0 -

Contractions don't just start super painful, they kind of build up from period cramp type feeling so you won't suddenly be hit with an excruciating pain.. it is all ok.. honestly.. being in labour and giving birth is AMAZING.. you really think I'd have this many children if it was that bad? I know it sounds clich! when people say you won't remember the pain afterwards.. you do remember but it is worth every twinge for the sake of that little person.. when they are laid in your arms looking at you because you are the single most important perfect person they will ever know, until they have their own children at any rate.. and we ignore those teenage and toddler 'I hate you' moments
Being tearful for me is a sign the end is nigh.. I usually get very emotional and in this horrid weather the heat and exhaustion won't be helping at all..
You CAN do this because millions and millions of women have done it before you .. most of them didn't have the option of pain relief or being in a hospital for their deliveries.. they just got on and did it.. and they survived.
I truly believe the last few weeks of pregnancy are so awful to make you emotionally ready to face the labour because you get to a point where you don't care what you have to go through you just want that thing out of you.
My daughter got her son to crowning and said 'I can't do it'.. at which point I said.. you don't have a great deal of choice.. you can't walk around with a baby hanging out of your foof for the rest of your life now get on with it.. It is perfectly normal and natural and your feelings are not unique to you.
You will do this and in a couple of months you will look back and wonder what it was you were quite so concerned about.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I had a caesarean first time, so i'm quite looking forward to the labour. I want to experience the moment that everyone says about where u forget the pain because you have your baby.
If it was that bad people wouldnt have children, or those who did would stop at 1.
Plus if it's that bad, i'll have drugstheres no medal for a drug free childbirth, so if i feel i need it i'll have it!
Still here..... but working on that!0
