Hospital bags - how are yours organised? I tried putting things in seperate ziplock bags (0-3 sleepsuits, newborn sleepsuits, 0-3 vests..) etc but because of the air in the bags it's making my bag really full and I can't fit as much in. Is there a more obvious way or keeping it organised that I'm missing?

Open the bags.. roll them up as tight as you can and zip them up.. air tight seal!! if you do it rightIt takes a couple of goes to get them perfect but much easier and flatter.
My bag has a Tesco carrier with 1 vest, 1 sleepsuits, 1 hat and 2 nappies for the baby to be dressed in.
Then another Tesco carrier with a nightie, pad and pants for me.
I just have general bits flung in otherwise... nappies, pads, pants, bra, socks, cardigan, extra nightie and 3 extra sleepsuits, vests and cardies and 2 muslin squares. My toiletries a bag of wipes and a cotton wool pleat a towel for me and 2 blankets for the baby. And the baby's stuffed animal.. they all have 1 to go in their goldfish bowl.. This one has a lamb.
I'll fling in my kindle, puzzle book, diary and a couple of pens and the relevant chargers as I am walking out the door.
The car seat has shoes in for me a pair of leggings and a floaty top and a bra and just a blanket for the baby.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Congrats Sparkles... Love the name... That was a name that came to into my head this morning in the shower, along with the matching Oliver!
Yes... the comments are really starting to annoy me now!!! You sure theres only one in there... yes I have had 3 scans to confirm that!!! Thats a neat bump, your massive, the babys going to massive if you still have 9 weeks to go... etc etc
I not to worried about giving birth, the baby is just going to slid on out is it not? Maybe because its my first, I will take it as it comes. Yes I know it going to hurt, its not very diginified... but the baby is coming out one way or another, millions of women have done it before and there is nothing I can do about that, so just get on with it!
Well ordered my pram on Wednesday, after hours looking at them, they all look the same now!!! Kiddicare had the one I wanted in the sale, with the 15% off, so printed off all the details and went to mothercare!! Had a good look at the prams and decided it was defo the one I wanted, even though they didnt have the colour there. The only thing it doesnt have adjustable bar, but the height wasnt to bad. After a call to their head office, they agreed to price match it. So was at the tills for ages as they tried to take off nearly £200 of the price to match Kiddicare. I know it would have been easier to order from Kiddicare, but I going to Italy tomorrow so it wouldnt have been delivered till today to MIL's, so wouldnt have had time to check it and send it back!!! But at Mothercare I got to pick which date to have it delivered, tested the car seat (a lot easier with the roof down) and have their guarantee.
Thats the first major new purchase I have made and it think its now starting to sink in that I am having a baby in 9 weeks:eek: !!! When I come back from Italy going to start on Babys room, even though OH is away for another week!
OH has been suppportive and has been calling me Blobby all week!!!
Well I am going to wish good labour vibes to all that need them for the next week.
Will see you all in a week :wave:0 -
[Rant]
Just come back from the dentistBar Steward pulled a tooth out as the temp crown had fallen off due to me not coming in within the 3 weeks. 1. I wasn't told it had to be done in 3 weeks and 2, you've just had a whole month off for a holiday so how was that going to happen?!?!!!
grrrrr
Got to go to a wedding tomorrow. 6am start, to then travel to Bath and then on to Worthing for the wedding. It's going to be a loooooooooong day...
[/End Rant]What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
lol@nene for the rant quotes. Sorry you had a painful time at the dentist.
I feel sorry for you cleofish, I have swollen ankles too! Can't stand the heat. People make lovely comments don't they!0 -

i just roll it all up, fit loads in that way. are you using a bag or a little case?
I use a airplane cabin size case. it stores nicely away by the bed/locker.
how much stuff have you packed? could you do a smaller bag for OH to bring in the next day/swap with dirty clothes'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Cleofish so pleased to read your post and think it's not just me who has an army of mothers (and the odd father) telling me how gruelling parenthood is!
It's made me anxious as patience isn't my strong point and it sure as hell isn't my partners! At times, I have honestly thought what if I hate it!! I've also had a fair few comments from friends an family that they can't imagine me with a baby and that it's a good job my partners here (apparently he's the mature one!)
Never in my life have a taken it upon myself to discuss a pregnant women's weight, lifestyle etc etc but people don't think twice with me!
Anyhow my feet have swollen today..god they look vile! Just had a whinge at my partner who said I wasn't getting any sympathy from him whilst I continued to work so many hours. So that's told me!
I've ordered a baby carrier, baby bottles and nipple pads (!) which arrived today. I'm so happy with my baby bottles I could put them up as ornaments round the house!
On that note though...how many bottles are those who are getting bottles getting? I am going to breastfeed after much umming and ahhing and a little bit of feeling pushed by my midwife! But I plan to express as I just don't feel comfortable lobbing my tit out when I'm out and about so I'll still be using bottles. So far I've bought a pack of 3 which I know won't be enough but I wanted to look at them first.
I mean to be honest I have no idea how often a baby feeds! Eeeeek I better get reading!0 -
Just on prams I've brought the Obaby Zezu twin and I love it
(Not that Ive used it yet)
It won't fit through doorways but I couldn't be doing with one of those top and bottom ones and the only decent long one was £850 without the extras and I couldnt fit that round our doorway anyway so same problem really ...
Got 15% off at kiddie care so I think it was about 350 overall as it was already reduced to £400ish
I found 6 bottles is the perfect amount (we actally used 7 to keep spare water though) as thats how many the sterliser fit & you need to keep on top of washing them so its better to have less (well im not that organised) so it encorages you to sort them out once a day instead of being able to put it off. You could always get 12 if you prefer but dont see point in having like 9 of them as you would be putting 3 in the sterliser and double the work..etc
Anyone got advice on baby carriers/slings etc? Dont like idea of using them really but I was thinking to use my double pram for walks etc but if I want a trip into town going to be so much easier to bung baby in a sling and off I go... (as my DS will be 14months lol)
Plus I am hoping to really shread the pounds after this one (I can hope) so carrying baby will be alittle extra if you know what I mean lol xPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Stretchy wraps are perfect for carrying around a newborn squish in. Moby is a popular brand but you can also buy from Victoria sling lady or Sa Be who do good quality budget wraps. Close caboo is another good stretchy carrier but is already put together so you just simply lift and put it on, put baby in and then tie.
If you like buckles Connecta's, Manduca and Boba are good brands to look at.
You can pick up all the above new or preloved through sling selling groups or if you have a sling meet close by to where you live pop along and try some out to work out whats best for you.
A lot of people buy high street carriers like baby bjorn. Whilst these are a good way to introduce babywearing they are not as good as baby grows bigger they can pull on your back and be uncomfortable because the baby is not sat in an optimum position in these kinds of carrier.
I love babywearing. I have now moved onto woven wraps as my little girl is 4 months old and I don't find a stretchy wrap comfortable any more.I :heart2: saving money0 -

These are also really bad for baby's hip development as the legs dangle in an unnatural angle and the whole of the baby's weight is suspended on their crotch.. NOT good at all.
They need to be in a froggy position to keep hips and back supported.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
