Kerri, if you need to rest then rest, a messy home is not a big deal and maybe MIL will feel useful if you ask for help.
Jox, the NHS website says it's a common virus that most people get as a child. Just because you can get it from sex does not mean it's an std or that it's the main method of transfer, especially considering it's mostly caught as a child! You can even catch it from changing a babies nappy or kissing. It's only a problem if you're infected during pregnancy and even then it only adversely affects a small percentage of those babies and usually when they don't know about it. Don't feel dirty as it's no different to every catching other virus and how many of them have we all caught in our lives?
Claire, what was the shower like? I've never been to one but I'm considering organising my own, if that doesn't sound too needy or self centred. I've been so busy and stressed it would be nice to have a pregnancy related event to make some nice memories. However I have no clue what to do?
AFM - well I'm feeling much more positive than I was this morning. Being tired, stressed and in pain is not a good combination. However I finished my job application and did a pretty good job even if I do say so myself. Fingers crossed I get one of the few promotions going so that I don't get my six months notice in April. Also I told my boss that I felt like I was missing this pregnancy due to all the stress and long hours at work. So I've managed to get 30th December off which really makes a big difference to me. I'm working the 23rd, 27th and 3rd, hubbie is out on 28th and we have our NCT classes the 29th and 5th. We're having a party at ours this Sunday and preparing for it tomorrow, seeing family Christmas eve, Christmas day and Boxing Day and the solicitor on the 2nd regarding the house purchase. So I felt like we only had New Years Eve and the 1st to rest, do anything as a couple and go shopping for baby stuff when the shops are open and I just felt overwhelmed and like everything in my life is being rushed right now. This one day extra off together feels like it makes a difference.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone, glad to report that I felt a lot better after a bite to eat and a warm bath, was maybe just hormones this morning or something ! I used to get really excited as a kid on birthday/christmas and get an upset tummy so maybe i'm reverting back lol !! As I've been getting travel sick which I also used to have as a kid...
I had a lovely rest of the day, relaxing bath then down to my parents, lots of lovely presents, mainly smellies but ones suited to me rather than general thoughtless ones, perfumes and a kindleVery happy with my kindle as I love to read but hate carting books around.
Hope you are all keeping well.. just counted that I have 18 weeks to go... seems to be coming in so soon !0 -
Kynthia, my friends mum organised it for her but it wasn't a surprise, but I think she did all the invites etc but you could do your own. She did it think as she's Canadian So they're pretty common to have there.
We had nibbles to eat, lots of them -thank goodness as I felt so sick!and then we did the guess the size of the bump with a piece of string, a quiz about some facts about babies which was actually really hard, I learnt some stuff! (Like babies are born without proper kneecaps!) Um oh we filled in a book for her, everyone emailed in advance a photo of themselves as a baby, the mum just hung them up but I guess you could have played a game guessing who they were. Sat around chatting a lot too. Oh and then my friend opened the presents people brought which took a while.
It was quite nice as it wasn't all cringe playing those awful smell the food in the nappy games or anything, just a couple of fun games. Ad there were a couple of babies there who were quite entertaining.0 -
Happy birthday Con and Eiteews  (non alcoholic!)
Lulu, at our trust you just call the ante natal unit and ask for a tour, they are run each Thursday at 5pm and 7pm. The ante natal ladies just checked our details and booked us in, do it a few weeks before you want the tour in case it's busy. We go in a few weeks when I'll be about 36 weeks.
Having a quiet day today, hubby out and about doing christmassy jobs so we'll leave the curtain shopping til Monday. Had reflexology yesterday for first time, was really good. I went along for the treat of a foot rub but found the health benefit side fascinating. So will try and go back again.
Happy weekend xfran-o0 -
PS re baby showers, some friends are organising one for me mid-Jan, I've been to a few before as well. Mine will be at my Mums house so I don't have to worry about having the house straight!
Ones I've been to before have been a mix of friends and family, buffet food or tea and cakes, baby related games and gifts. Games have included - blind taste test of baby food (guess the flavour), quizzes (most popular baby names from different years, guess cost of various baby products) and silly games involving blindfolds and cotton wool balls... We've often done a sweepstake on baby's sex/ weight/ birthday too. Hope that helps!fran-o0 -

Nooooo, I've lost one of my pairs of maternity trousers
I alternate them - wearing one and washing the other. I've been washing all my clothes today ready to pack for xmas hols, and had to wash the pair I had on... can't find my second pair and I've looked everywhere.
I do have a third pair that I bought for work, but they're much too big so I've never used them. They'll have to do while my lovely, comfy ones go through the wash.
I just don't know where they've gone. They must be in the house somewhere...!Mortgage when started: £330,995

I hate losing clothes lannie duck! And you've just reminded me I couldn't find my fav black cardigan on Friday which I want to wear tonight at my parents Xmas party so I better try to find it now!
Today is a bit weird for me as it's a year since my erpc and last year at the same party as it was the weekend before we announced I was pregnant to everyone as we figured I was almost 12 weeks so it was probably ok I just hadn't seen the scan yet. Obviously I'm really happy to be where I am now but until the baby is here I can't relax and the party and the fact it falls today just brings it all back.
So to cheer ourselves up me and DH have made a huge cream/peanut butter/chocolate/cookie based pie!0 -
I lose clothes all the time and have no idea where they go
I'm finally relaxing after doing downstaits housework and wrapping the Christmas presents, upstairs will get done tomorrow as I am going to have a nice pamper bath this evening and will no doubt leave bathroom like a bomb site so no point doing that just now lol !
I got stuck on the floor earlier, couldn't get up and was laughing at myself which didn't really help the situation lol, had to do a staggered help up from OH .
Looking forwards to tomorrow, last practise with the children for the nativity play at mass on Christmas day... not my children lol, other peoples, I help out at the childrens liturgy though and have been helping them prepare.0 -
Oh yes we did that too, guess the price of a hamper of baby items. I was quite close but someone else was closer & won the prize!
Con I can barely get up off the floor in the way I used to, now I have to grab on to something. Really need to get my leg muscles back it's ridiculous!0
