My birth plan says that we would rather be left on our own as much as possible during labour :) But then we're going the hippy route :p

Just had OH call me up "you alright, not gone into labour and had the baby or anything?" bless him, he's now really nervous as I'm full term. Baby's not coming yet though love!

BigZ sounds like a positive meeting, especially if they'll induce if your symptoms get too much although i was under the impression you was having a c section?
I think you're thinking of amyloofoo who was originally gonna have a c section..? They don't want to give me a c section, if possible, as my recovery would be much longer than a "normal" person's. I really don't want one either, but that's secondary ;)
I have my breastfeeding workshop next wednesday so I'll let you know what's said and scan in any leaflets I get if you like. there may not be much information that's useful ahead of time as you say, you don't know how you or your baby are going to be as it'll be completely new to the both of you, but i'm hoping i'll be able to ask a few questions about bigboobed feeding as i'm worried i'm going to struggle to get going
Thanks that would be great :) I think you're in the same region as me, so the info should be the same too ;)
she was also shocked at the idea that we want to take little miss to a wedding at the beginning of April in South London as she thinks its too far with one so little, she'll be 8 weeks if she comes on her due date, so that got me all hepped up. but really we'll be going the day before to make sure we have plenty of time for pit stops and she should still be in her moses basket so we can just take that. but of course me being me i couldn't sleep for worrying about it lol
We're taking MiniZee to a wedding in March - when s/he could be between 12 and 7.5 weeks. It's about 1.5hrs away, but we've booked a room within the hotel venue so we have somewhere to change prior to the festivities and to go back to to feed in/let baby sleep etc if we want to. It'll be what it'll be :) I know what you mean though, about things you weren't even concerned about playing on your mind in the wee hours!

BigZ - our nct breastfeeding session was heavily pushing breastfeeding and didn't say much about expressing or formula. I left it feeling bad for any of the Mums that didn't want to exclusively breastfeed as it was so pushy. If it's any consolation I'm a week ahead of you and can only do short bursts now with lots of breaks as I get completely exhausted, I can totally sympathise with my Mum's M.E. at the moment as I feel as tired as I did when I first had my thyroid out it's so frustrating. Sending positive vibes that you get a natural labour though.
Thanks :) Part of me knows that I'm likely to have more rest now than I will once bubs is here...which should be more worrying, lol ;)
I deffo want a natural labour if possible, but I'm also very realistic about the chances. I just really hope I don't end up staying in hospital long, and that if I do have to, that I don't freak out while in :o

    Happy full term! :j

Nice to hear from you BZ, I always like to hear what's going on with everyone, even if it's just little funny things about babies kicking in dodgy places or moans about errant hairs and skin tags! ;)

It's good news that they'll induce you if it gets too much, nice to have that back up and you know that if it did get to that stage you won't then have to fight for an induction! :)
I have the errant skin tags, and the appendages sticking out of my side ;)

I also redressed the moses basket last night after washing the fabrics, so everything is 95% ready :) Hurrah! Just need to check the car seat base in the car really, which I think we'll do on the weekend.

BZ your baby is very well behaved being engaged so soon! Bet it makes walking uncomfy. Great excuse to sit and eat chocolate (do we need an excuse?!)
Well behaved I like the sound of :D Think that will continue once s/he's in the outside world? ;) Yes, walking - well waddling! - isn't the most comfy of endeavours ;) It seems baby is mostly into savoury rather than as much sweets... Pringles are my definite downfall :p

BZ - lovely to hear from you and glad your hospital are being understanding, even if the news isn't always ideal. I can't believe I'm almost 38 weeks either, but you're 37 weeks this coming week too! It's exciting to think our babies are practically here - they'll be popping out for cuddles in no time! :)

I hope your fatigue becomes more manageable and that you sail through these last few weeks of pregnancy (and the labour) with as little pain and as much energy as possible. Even if you do decide to go for an induction though, you've done so well already to maintain as much 'normalcy' as you have through the pregnancy and Mini Zee will be a lovely healthy gestation :)
    Thanks :) You're so encouraging :)
Afm, have spent today alternating between bursts of energy (so have done lots of washing and ironing with my parents here) and needing to nap! My body doesn't know what it's doing at this stage I think, baby kept me up all last night too with lots of rib-kicking and cervix-jabbing. **TMI alert** I've also started feeling a bit nauseous again and have had quite loose stools (I'm on iron so had been very constipated) so am back to SSing like mad (we need a pregnancy thread QQ to waggle the SS finger ;)). I have now completed 2 separate birth plans - the original one for my C-section and one for if I go into spontaneous labour before things are resolved... feeling lots more settled about the whole thing.

    Amy xx

I'm SSing for you ;) If you haven't already gone in (still catching up) what's your plan for spontaneous labour?

Ahh apologies bigZ, I was thinking of you but had it the other way round, that they thought Labour would be too much so a section would be better, your way round sounds much better

I know of a couple of people, including my sister, who were left alone during labour which whilst it wasn't ideal they were doing fine with no complications, so I take the BBC report with a pinch of salt as it doesn't say whether those left alone needed someone or were just wanting reassurance of a midwives presence. In fact when my sister was in labour the place was so busy she was waiting on the maternity ward for a delivery room to free up and baby started crowning just as visiting hours started so she very nearly had quite a few witnesses
Personally I'm going to sound mental but I'm looking forward to labour- I'm in no doubt that it'll hurt like !!!!!!y but that's temporary and its how I get to hold my baby in my arms so bring it on I say! :rotfl:

I think I'm in the calm before the storm....a week ago I couldn't walk round the supermarket without stopping every 15 seconds due to BH. I've just gone round now without having to stop at all other than feeling pressure down below, like there's a football shoved there so I can't close legs properly...All seems a little too good to be true at the moment, especially seeing how I have so much energy this past week.

I just wanted to jump in from the 12-24 weeks thread to say when I had DS I didn't even get to a labour suite. I was in a ward which was like pre-labour (I had a urine infection and was on a drip) there were a couple of ladies on drips and a few who were waiting for sections. I was sat on the bed eating marmite on toast and there was a pop and water everywhere. Was told I had hours to go but it was like a light switch I was in full blown labour my contractions were fast and within a short time I was taken to another ward which was only through a set of double doors and I had DS there. So I never even got to see a delivery room. I hope I do this time, it might even be worth me taking the tour the local hospital just in case I don't again!

Hi BZ that's great news that you can be induced earlier if needs be. Sorry to hear you are not feeling great though xx

TL I've asked for lots of nice bits and pieces for Christmas - no idea what my DH is getting me but he got me perfume for my birthday :) Your Christmas Eve sounds lovely!! I may steal the idea.

It's been really interesting to read the conversations about weddings. We have 2 next summer, one when baby will be around 8 weeks and another (where I'm chief bridesmaid - we're off dress shopping next week!) when baby will be about 5 months old. Baby will still be in carrycot part of pram (I'm hoping, it's huge so no reason why not) so should be ok.

    fran-o great bump pic :)

kynthia glad your appointment went well. My little ones hb rate was 142 at my 24 week appt!!

Claire - that grobag came quick! Glad your appt went well too

mincepiemonster I cannot wait! I'm finding it hard to get around the classroom and keep sitting on the carpet etc without thinking about how to get up :D I'm not planning on going back at all to be honest so starting my mat leave at 34 weeks isn't such a bad thing! Not long for you now! Bet you are getting very excited. Your dream sounds very strange - I've been having very vivid ones too. x

Birdie we are having a nice grown up meal on NYE too with close friends, can't wait! Really hope you feel better soon xx

We will definitely be getting out and about, I have a very active 6 month old puppy to walk!

Re Facebook, we also put an announcement on but as TL said, only as I used to find it much more difficult when there was either a heavily pregnant pic/newborn announcement out of nowhere.

amy - glad you have written 2 birth plans now. Do you have another consultant appt planned? Hope things happen for you soon!

TL hope you get your furniture up soon, I can't wait to get ours delivered now!

squ1rrel my baby does exactly the same, little monkey!

Jox great news about your OHs job :) hope the growth scan goes ok

Is everyone taking baby things to the hospital in their changing bag??

Just a quick headsup - mothercare have 20% off (nearly) everything when you buy online, til Monday 16th...

Not sure my credit card can take anymore this week but might have a look at the furniture....,

I've been thinking that too Squirrel! I wonder if we're just noticing it more because it applies to us? I got really annoyed at the story yesterday about maternity pay being cut at some point... it's already way too low, how can they make it even less?! Think they're going to try to turn us into America where you get 12 weeks at 'Standard Disability Pay' and nothing else! If that happens I think we should move to Canada- 1 year off at half pay the entire time! :)

 cutting it? I hope not! I thought they were extending it to men not scaling back!

Yeah on baby & bump some of the American women seem to get even less than that because I think the 12 week thing is only enforced on companies of a certain size so some only get 6 weeks! It's shocking. Plus all the medical bills which seem to cost them all thousands.

My sister lives in Canada but I couldn't deal with the weather there, it's around -10 to 15 c in the day there and -20c at night right now where she lives! Brr!
