Has anyone bought any good maternity tights that are thick ones?
Before my bump got too uncomfortable I had these lovely thick almost thermal type ones from Asda, great for when its cold. Cost about £3.
Now looking for maternity ones there are firstly hardly any to choose from, and I havent had much luck. The ones in Mothercare are really expensive but Im now desperate and will cough up for them if someone says theyre good.
I bought some in H&M as were £8 and nice and thick, got a size S, as their sizing is a bit odd in there, instead of like everywhere else it says buy your normal size, it says to get various sizes depending how far along you are, but a S is a 10-12 so I figured that was one up for me anyway so got those. Plus Im only 5'3'' so cant get too big or theyll be too long.
Anyway they were like airplane compression stockings! Way too tight on my bump. So DH nicely swapped them for me for a M yesterday.
The M were just as tight but too long, so had a nice Nora Batty effect! How hard can it be to buy some nice woolly tights!
I am struggling so much with tights too! Bought some from H&M but got medium, as that's my usual size, but really need a large. They're a bit too short and keep rolling down my bump in a most uncomfortable way! I bought some thick tights from there too and they just feel horrible, really tight and scratchy and not stretchy enough so they don't stay up at all.I haven't tried Mothercare ones but I think I'm going to get some tomorrow.
I've been really disappointed with the range available everywhere too. The craziest colour I've found are grey! It's like pregnant ladies aren't allowed to have nice, cool tights! Got some stockings to wear but there are some things that I can't really wear stockings with and only tights will cut it. Shame that I then spend the day wearing boring black tights that I'm constantly having to hoik up!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I just looked on Asos and the first pair to come up were these

Yeah that's the first thing I want to buy 'cat' suspenders. Seriously.
I need thermals lol!
Yeah I found some navy ones in h&m but totally put off their tights now.
I can't stand anything tight on my bump, or at the bottom of it either but the leggings I got from Asos are so good why can't their tights be! Although I might risk ordering these they're the thickest they do

I'm about to go shopping now so might see what mothercare have in store.0 -
I feel like I'm a bit of a expert with tights as I don't ever wear trousers, and H&M tights are horrible! they are so tight even when I'm not pregnant!
I'm only 12+3 but I'm really bloated and my tights are uncomfortable so I bought these mothercare ones yesterday http://www.mothercare.com/Blooming-Marvellous-Maternity-Tights-60-Denier/LU4225,default,pd.html cos they are 20% off, bringing them to £6.00 which I think is an okay price, sorry I can't recommend them yet though as I haven't picked them up!
other tights that are definitely more roomy are marks and Spencer's ones, iv got some velvet touch thick ones that are so comfy and stretchy, again they're expensive though, £8-£10 a pair! but they last ages, mine have been through the wash at least 20+ times and they're still in really good condition.0 -
Aww rummer sorry to hear that you've had a stressful time recently. Hoping little one stays in a little longer for you and the worries ease with time. These little ones like to be trouble makers don't they! Do you know how early they are talking?Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Hello - Can I join you all? Been lurking for a long time but decided to finally post. I'm 24+6 with my first baby. I had terrible morning sickness from weeks 8 to 21, I had to had nearly 3 months off work and was pretty much house bound, but thankfully the nausea seems to have finished so I'm feeling much better. Now I just have the aches and pains associated with pregnancy.
Does anyone else get really bad backache? I have it quite high up my back and the only thing that helps is lying flat with a heat pad under it. I'm guessing my posture is pretty poor..Anyway hope you are all doing well.0 -
Good luck to rummer and baby xx
I got 2 pairs of these tights, they are more sheer than my usual 40 denier tights from Boots but are quite comfortable for me, just have to make sure legs aren't too hairy!

All I seem to wear are dresses and tights these days!
Growth scan is on Wednesday. Mum and oh want to come but I think I want to go on my own... Was looking up the Fetal Medicine Unit at UCHL where I have to go in London and scaring myself silly yesterday. PMA PMA (Positive Mental Attitude!)!
Thanks for good wishes about oh's job, but I think it's a bit of a scam job so I've asked him not to go back and to look for something else. The positives are that he had good interview practice and picked up some sales tips but all in all he would have to leave home at 8.15am and come home at 10pm 6 days a week and travel alot at his own expense so forget that!0 -
They are thinking about 34 weeks although he may come at any time. I am flamer now that I have had time to think about it however when they first mentioned it I was quite upset.
I know many babies come early and that 34 weeks is not too horrendous, it is more just I had prepared myself for 38 weeks which I thought was too early as it is!
Just hoping I can have Christmas at home although my DH did say if I missed it then we would have our own mini Christmas dinner when we are all home safe. At least I only have one week left until maternity leave startsTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Just got some 100 denier ones from blooming marvellous in mothercare, came to £8 with the discount.
The sizing for my height suggested I buy a small, they'd run out so I got a medium & they're not too long and not cutting off blood like the h&m ones! But goodness knows what the small would have been like. bit tight around the bump for my liking but I found I can actually push them down instead and they're quite comfy so I'd say 80% success!
Are your m&s ones maternity or normal ones?Hello - Can I join you all? Been lurking for a long time but decided to finally post. I'm 24+6 with my first baby. I thought my sickness was bad enough you sound even worse! I had it from 5-21 weeks, now just nauseous, but I was only housebound for around 4 weeks completely then did the odd trip or two to a shop or newsagent for 2 weeks. I had 6 weeks off work turn went back in but only part time so I know how you feel it's horrible.Good luck to rummer and baby xx

Definitely sounds like one of those scams you hear about. No good company makes their employees pay travel expenses!0 -
I've pointed out that at the end of the day I just want baby and me to be healthy, so I'm obviously going to be flexible and nothing's more important than that for me. However, in an ideal world I'd want:
- As few people in the room as possible except me and DH - please ask people to knock unless there's a genuine emergency
- Intermittent rather than continuous monitoring unless there's a clinical need
- To use water, massage and aromatherapy as pain relief
- Delayed cord clamping (and DH to be offered the opportunity to cut the cord)
- No interventions unless there is a genuine clinical need
- No directed pushing
- A physiological third stage unless any risks are identified
- Skin to skin contact immediately after the birth and at least until after the first feed
- Vit K to be administered either IM or orally
If you want a physiological third stage, I would also specify no controlled cord traction as this can be dangerous if done when you haven't had the injection.0
