Hello - Can I join you all? Been lurking for a long time but decided to finally post. I'm 24+6 with my first baby. I had terrible morning sickness from weeks 8 to 21, I had to had nearly 3 months off work and was pretty much house bound, but thankfully the nausea seems to have finished so I'm feeling much better. Now I just have the aches and pains associated with pregnancy.0

Has anyone bought any good maternity tights that are thick ones?
Before my bump got too uncomfortable I had these lovely thick almost thermal type ones from Asda, great for when its cold. Cost about £3.
Now looking for maternity ones there are firstly hardly any to choose from, and I havent had much luck. The ones in Mothercare are really expensive but Im now desperate and will cough up for them if someone says theyre good.
I bought some in H&M as were £8 and nice and thick, got a size S, as their sizing is a bit odd in there, instead of like everywhere else it says buy your normal size, it says to get various sizes depending how far along you are, but a S is a 10-12 so I figured that was one up for me anyway so got those. Plus Im only 5'3'' so cant get too big or theyll be too long.
Anyway they were like airplane compression stockings! Way too tight on my bump. So DH nicely swapped them for me for a M yesterday.
The M were just as tight but too long, so had a nice Nora Batty effect! How hard can it be to buy some nice woolly tights!
I've been wearing the mothercare 100 denier tights for a few weeks now and they are very warm and comfyI have the black pair and the grey pair
I got them in size medium and they fit perfectly so I would say go up a size if in doubt

Aw Rummer, really hope your little one stays in for as long as poss :grouphug:
Re tights, I usually wear trousers so when it's really cold I'll just wear a pair of leggings underneath
AFM - THE most important thing on my birth plan will be not to be left alone! That happened with DD1 a lot including when I was pushing. They had given me an epidural so I couldn't feel when to push. Incredibly the midwife told my OH to interpret the monitor for contractions and tell me when to push. She then disappeared!
With DD2 in a different hospital they were surprised and assured me women there are not left alone at all and were true to their word. Now with DS I will be at another different hospital (need to stop moving about the country!) this hospital has said they generally don't leave women alone but couldn't guarantee 100%
Think I will be closely monitored this time anyway cos of GD. I had low placenta which has moved a bit but could still mean cos of that and GD that I get a section anyway. Had a growth scan yesterday and the wee man is already 3lbs 1 oz! Seems big to me for 28+3 but mw didn't seem too worried. I don't really want a section but would prefer that to baby getting stuck and/or instrumental delivery.
Got another appt on 23rd with obst and diabetes consultants. Another scan at 32 wks, then one at 36!

I'm pretty sure they're not allowed to leave you alone if you've had an epidural now. Not sure when that guidance came in, or if it's specific to my hospital. I had assumed it was nation-wide...Mortgage when started: £330,995

There is no chance I will be left alone, by the sounds of it everyone who is passing will be invited in!
I must have been more affected by the last few days than I thought as after a walk I came home and slept soundly for 4 hours  I didn't even change position and only woke as DH came in from work and switched the lights on. Ah well my body must have needed it and I have woken up feeling brighter and ready to get a few more things organised.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer thinking of you xxx
