Thanks for the book tip MPM!
Babies can never have too many books IMO!
I'd go stir crazy if I was expected to stay inside with my newborn for weeks/months! Yes, he's going to be born when it's still cold but we've got him a snowsuit (which wasn't cheap so need to get as much wear as possible!) and he'll be in the pram covered in blankets so it's not that crazy an idea!
I'm coming down with cold and feeling very sorry for myself.I can feel my body's defenses rapidly deteriorating and had a cry all over OH at lunchtime because I don't feel well and having cold on top of all the 'normal' aches and pains is making me quite miserable! I'd just go home to bed now but I have to come to work tomorrow morning, it's very important because it's the last round of our office bake off and I've made the Christmas cake for our team! Can't let them down! Talk about priorities! :rotfl: If I feel bad though I'll be going home as soon as the judging has been done.
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
In Scandanavian countries they put their babies out for naps in the -10c cold! they seem to sleep better as they're all cocooned wrapped up nice and warm and mums think the fresh air does them good
Sjlou I went to the first one about labour but it was just about the stages of labour, drugs, what intervention might be taken and bascially not to come into hospital too soon! not been to an NCT one but i'm sure the cover the same things
I had a good cry when I was proofing the civic carol service sheet as the mayor's chosen 'away in a manger' as one of the carols. was thinking about how lovely it'll be with the children singing it and got to the line 'bless all the dear children in thy tender care' and had to run to the bathroom. proper soft me lol
Mama gave me the same warning re:relaxing last night, especially considering the family history of premature babies, she disapproved of the fact that i'd walked all the way round the trafford centre lol
Bizarrely in an 'oooh it's destiny' way, i've gotten myself convinced now that little lady won't come til February, so may be late, as the birth stone is amethyst which is the stone in my engagement ring. DH reckons mid-January so we'll see who's rightshe's been told in no uncertain terms that she's a 2014 baby and not to even think about arriving in 2013- on new year's day i'll be 35+3 x
ETA: sorry to hear you're feeling poorly Birdie although i agree about your priorities, as presumably the judging involves eating? lol get plenty of fluids and some olbas oil xLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

Got Married April 20110 -
Just packed baby's hospital bag, just a few things in there that I still need to get
I've also just put the stickers on the wall and it's really lovely being in there now. Tonight I'm going to cut some more squares for the back of her quilt, going to go for a scrappy patchwork from material I already own interlaced with some CK fabric I bought ages ago and never used
I need OH to come to the supermarket with me though, as last time I drove round town I wasn't really very safe (very tired) so don't really trust myself driving now. Anyone else like that? Baby distracts me quite a lot.

Hope the appointments go well ladies.
Is anyone making any herbal bath thingys for postpartum? I've found a recipe I like the sound of (as long as I don't end up smelling of garlic). Although I'm wondering if OH will think I've gone full-blown hippy with it...http://www.growinghomeblog.com/2013/03/how-to-prepare-postpartum-herbal-bath.html
Hello :j Just gate crashing from the 12-24 week thread to say I love the idea of this but where would you get those herbal ingredients from? I would have nowhere to start in finding them?!
Hope everyone else is well and I look forward to joining the thread in a few weeks timeI sort of lurk here every so often and catch up on everyone's news!

Kerri the bath idea sounds lovely, hope your ingredients all arrive with no problems! I just used lavender essential oil mixed with an egg-cupful of milk in my baths, as that's supposed to help with stitches and healing too. The warm water is lovely and soothing and breastfeeding in a warm bath helps with your let-down reflex, too. I'm not normally a bath person (in fact last time I was in the bath was when DD was 2 weeks old!) but those first few baths together were so precious.
TL I am a firm believer in fresh air being good for babies, in fact I read some research which suggests taking babies out between hours of 12-4pm (not for the whole 4 hours, obvs) is very positive ... here is a news article of the same
Claire the gift tree sounds beautiful. I would have cried too! Although the John Lewis ad didn't affect me this year, normally I'm in tears over Christmas ads, I think it confused me a bit (I didn't realise the whole concept of the advery - rabbit was leaving the alarm clock to wake her friend the bear up - until I read it in the paper!)
Birdie boo for colds ... isn't it crap when you can only take paracetamol?!0 -
BZ - lovely to hear from you and glad your hospital are being understanding, even if the news isn't always ideal. I can't believe I'm almost 38 weeks either, but you're 37 weeks this coming week too! It's exciting to think our babies are practically here - they'll be popping out for cuddles in no time!
I hope your fatigue becomes more manageable and that you sail through these last few weeks of pregnancy (and the labour) with as little pain and as much energy as possible. Even if you do decide to go for an induction though, you've done so well already to maintain as much 'normalcy' as you have through the pregnancy and Mini Zee will be a lovely healthy gestation
TeamLowe - Hope you're happy with the nursery furniture - it's so exciting when everything's arrived and you can finally get the room ready the way you've pictured it. Your Mum sounds lovely, hope she didn't have to stay in all day waiting for the delivery though.
At the breastfeeding workshop it might be worth asking about different positions than the stereotypical 'rugby ball', etc - lots of our more, ahem, 'well endowed' ladies prefer lying down positions until they're completely confident with the latch as it's easier to see what baby's doing and to be reassured that they're not being smothered. It's whatever works for you though
Comfy PJs are the best thing in the world - hope your DH manages to find some to treat you tooI agree that you'll be fine going to a wedding when she's little - babies are fine, it's toddlers you have to worry about! Congrats on the end of school appeals too, hopefully now you'll be able to relax and take it easy.
Kerri - Happy 37 weeks! I'm not making any toiletries, etc for postpartum, however MIL did treat me to a couple of these which are brilliant albeit pricey. A word of warning though - the labour box contains lots of clary sage which shouldn't be used until you're term / actually in labour. I love how 'crafty' you're being with baby's things - wish I had the energy and talent!
Birdie - NYE posh meal sounds lush! Hope you and your DH thoroughly enjoy yourselves. I've also had to allocate a present or two from baby :rotfl:
Sorry to hear that you're not feeling too well, hope you wake up feeling better and ready for cake!
Claire and sjlou - glad your midwife appointments went well.
Fran - Your bump's lovely - what my Aunty would call a 'Gucci bump' because it looks designerHave they told you baby's head down already? It looks nice and low. Hope your last few days at work are nice and relaxed and that you enjoy your maternity leave.
(I am also a massive fan of Babe)
Kynthia - Pleased to hear everything's good with baby - I think you should make a deal with your Mum that seen as she's booked the hotel, she can do any night wakingI'm sure you'll be fine though, in a lot of ways a small baby is easier to travel with than a livewire of a toddler!
Mincepiemonster - 35+1  exciting times!
Jox - I'm sure OH will change his mind once baby's arrived and he's seen LO out and about a couple of times. I'm another who's a fan of sneakily removing uncomfortable bras and hoping no-one notices!
I have to confess that I did do a Facebook announcement (given that DH had gone ahead and done one I thought the damage had probably been done and there was no way my friends and family were going to be quiet) but I apologised and included a link to unbaby.me for those who would rather not be bombarded with baby things.
Claire - Hope you can come to a compromise that works for everyone at the wedding, I'm sure baby will be fine and there'll be lots of offers of help from family
The gift tree is beautiful but so sad - I think I would have been a mess of tears. It's lovely that you've been able to give someone a present that will help them to mentally 'escape' from the situation they're in and that means something to you too.
Mysecretalias - nice to see you over here, it'll be no time until you're on this thread 'for real'!
Afm, have spent today alternating between bursts of energy (so have done lots of washing and ironing with my parents here) and needing to nap! My body doesn't know what it's doing at this stage I think, baby kept me up all last night too with lots of rib-kicking and cervix-jabbing. **TMI alert** I've also started feeling a bit nauseous again and have had quite loose stools (I'm on iron so had been very constipated) so am back to SSing like mad (we need a pregnancy thread QQ to waggle the SS finger). I have now completed 2 separate birth plans - the original one for my C-section and one for if I go into spontaneous labour before things are resolved... feeling lots more settled about the whole thing.
The second baby from my NCT class was born today - he's absolutely gorgeous and making me very broody!
ETA: Bloody hell that was a bit of an epic post! Much love to you all and hope both Mums and babies are happy and healthy.
Amy xx

Evening ladies, just a quick post from me....does anyone struggle with socks? I can no longer but mine on without planning how to before hand!!!! Each day it gets harder....wish it was summer so can wear flip flops. Also as I have swollen ankles socks are much tighter then normal......just don't know what to do for the best, have already bought a few different kinds of socks but all have the same problem.
Off to bed now....my tiredness has come back :-(
