MPM - I bought that collection yesterday :D Lovely books.

Gosh you ladies with weddings and newborns I salute you. I'm battening down the hatches and not going anywhere other than the local coffee shop! Mostly because I'm a big old grump when I'm tired.

Glad the appt went ok claire

I've just finished baby's first hat and then almost ended up in tears! Stupid hormones. I've never been very good at crochet but for some reason it just clicked last night and I've even managed a little pattern on the rim, chuffed I am. Picture here

I was just about to comment that you should make sure you wear a skirt/top rather than a dress for the wedding in case you're breastfeeding... and then I noticed you're a bridesmaid, Claire... so not much choice!

Do ensure the dress is easy to open and slip the shoulder off. At a couple of weeks old, baby will be feeding every 2 hours, if not more frequently.

Yeah im glad the dress my sister chose at the time also wasn't available in my size so we got a size bigger which I had planned on getting taken in but now I'm sure I'll need to extra room!

The shoulders aren't easy to move though, would be easier to just take the dress off tbh but there's not really anywhere suitable at the venue for me to sit & do that lol so ill just have to sit in the car with DH shielding me lol, or what I might do, is wear the bridesmaid dress for the ceremony & photos but then change into something else after as I think it could get impractical. I guess I'll worry about it nearer the time!

I just felt like crying as there is a 'giving tree' in our local supermarket where kids from children's homes write down a present they'd like, you buy it & return it to the store where someone comes and collects them later to distribute. I saw this 14 year old boy had asked for acrylic paints and a pad which really struck a cord with me as I loved painting at that age & most boys just want video games so I've just ordered it off amazon and hoping it comes in time now!! Just made me feel really sad though.

    That hat is lovely!!

Just had my appt, fundal height was 25cm so bang on for 25 weeks so I'm happy about that! She could tell where the baby's back was which is the bump hard bit I've been feeling and said she thought the head was below that so clearly she likes being upside down diagonally lol!

I'm back from my appt and they never bothered with the fundal height. Looking at my notes now it she's put "SFH = if higher umbilicus" whatever than means!!

Blood pressure and heart beat all ok though, nothing to worry about.

That'll be the fourth different midwife I've seen now at my appts. Nice to get some consistency!!

ah that hat is gorgeous kerri! Wish I could knit/crochet.

Has anyone done the nhs parentcraft classes? The midwife mentioned them in passing today. I'd previously been told I didn't qualify for a place and so I booked nct classes.
They're on a thurs morning so would have to miss work and OH wouldn't be able to come. Would I be missing out on anything I wouldn't get at the nct ones?

    nice bump fran :)
Will try to remember to get oh to take one for me tonight and ill upload it to fb.

My oh seems to have strong views that babies should stay indoors for the first few months, so that shocked me, I thought he'd be more "modern" than that, guess after nearly 6 years we still have more to learn about each other! If I feel like going out with baby I will, never mind what he says, I'll take each day as it comes!

I've just had to take my bra off at work, I've got lots of layers on so hopefully it won't be noticeable but ah the relief, I need a bigger size!

Sounds like a good compromise :)

And Jox, the community midwife encouraged me to go to a breastfeeding support group in my first week home from the hospital with DD1! Advice nowadays is definitely to get baby out and about in the fresh air.

Sorry for posting and running this morning, wanted to share the bump piccy! Its nice to celebrate here, I haven't posted many pregnancy related bits on facebook as I know two people from my circle of friends having fertility problems at the moment and very likely more that I don't know about.

Beautiful hat Kerri, wish I was more crafty! Claire- love the giving tree idea, that would set me off in tears too. I caught the end of a film about a pig who thinks he's a sheepdog on Saturday and blubbed at that. Hormones!!!

Five days left at work now and trying to take it easy. To everyone stressed out and working hard (I'm thinking of Kynthia but also others I'm sure!) - our NCT teacher told us that over this years classes she's had two ladies deliver extra early (between 30 and 35 weeks) and both were ladies who came to classes stressed/ late/ talking about work. Her advice was to let go of work worries as much as possible and focus on your health. I know its easier said than done... I have got to that point now (my poor boss!) where I am now saying no to new work requests, handing things over to my colleagues and generally being a lot less concientous than usual. It helps that people are starting to wind down a little for christmas. Five working days left...

Best wishes to all. My cold feels much better now though I've nearly lost my voice!

Jox -Yup definitely get baby in the fresh air I wonder what on earth made him think about keeping a baby inside? Years ago didn't they used to leave babies in prams in the garden all the time?

Sjlou you've just reminded me I need to book mine! I think at my hospital you're eligible if it's your first baby, I was supposed to book it 5 weeks ago though so bet it will be booked up now but we've booked nct anyway , which I need to pay the final instalment of!

    I should write a list!

I think he's thinking it's going to be cold if baby is born Jan / Feb but yes the fresh air will definitely do us both good!

I've not done a fb announcement at all, after reading threads on here it has made me super conscious of others' feelings plus I'm still cautious about "something going wrong".

    Fran O I agree.

I used to pull apart the kids I look after if they got in a fight etc, now I think well if they hit each other etc I'm not getting in the middle anymore!

And trying not to let their behaviour annoy me as much anymore.

I'll nag them to do homework etc but if they don't do it it's them who'll be in trouble at school, them who will look silly being late to places if they're not ready on time etc

Was the film Babe? I'm sure I caught DH watching that the other day!

I haven't either for the same reasons. I make comments here & there just haven't written a status update or anything.
