Mrs Bunny I completely understand about the Christmas thing. We have said to those that we buy for that we will be spending £10 per person and not a penny more and I wrote a list, spent one day in town (with lots of coffee/snack breaks) and got almost all I needed. The rest will be ordered online when I am next paid. At the moment the important thing for us is saving for maternity leave and most of the people were understanding.
KScarlett Sounds as if you have the essentials. What I would take though is something to do as a friend had a scheduled section and due to another emergency she had to wait a number of hours for hers so maybe books/mags/something else.
After painting the shelves I have been sitting crocheting my evening away. Over the weekend I have blocked 2 shawls I have made and I have one more ready to be blocked. Now busy making another shawl and another blanket. I have to admit I love the thought of wrapping my baby in things I have madeTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Congratulations Vic, I really really like the name Thomas.
Mrsbunny, one year when I too much going on I bought virtually everyone's Christmas present off Amazon. It was quite easy in comparison and the trick to quicker shopping is not to overthink or agonise over every decision. Think about ordering someone the latest cook book, a famous auto biography (Alex Ferguson for a footie fan), children's games in the Wii, someone's favourite stand up comedian DVD, the latest new release blockbuster, a family board game for the person who lives them or a box set of a popular show for someone who missed it on the telly. One delivery and it's all done. I hope that helps.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Congrats to the new mummies.
I'm still very pregnant, I was helping in my parents' takeaway on Fri and people were asking when I was due. My answer of yesterday was met with big gasps and retorts of "You should be sitting down with your feet up!". Lol I'm not ill I'm pregnant!!
I was also on strict instructions from DH not to give birth until after Man U had played Cardiff City!!Got married 13/11/10

Congratulations vic :j :j that went really quick! I was expecting it to be a long labour when you said it was yr first and only 1cm dilated. Looking forward to pics
Kscarlet - enjoy your last day. You sound very organised tho. I meant to do batch cooking but being ill set me back with everything. I did teach DH to cook whilst I've been pregnant tho so I figured he'll be in charge for a while
Lola - I went in to work too on friday when overdue and it was fab. Really took my mind off things and cheered me up no end. I do really like my job tho! And I miss my facepainting loads but can't physically do that at the moHope yr not a boldie for too long.
Kerri - oooo am jealous of yr baby moon! Hope you have a fab time
Ellie - sounds like baby is a tinker scaring you like that! I gave birth laying down on a bed last time. I read about positions and did think I'd prefer not to be on the bed but it suited me best In the end. I don't know if I would be happy with no bed at all
Mrs bunny - who do you normally buy for? Can you not discuss to just not swap presents this year? I don't swap with my siblings but I buy for my nephew and they buy for my daughter. Theres only 2 kids in the family atm so it isn't too much to splash out and I like buying kids presents anyway
Afm - still heresweep later. Fingers crossed it does the job. The only waters that keep leaking are from my eyes! Finding these last few days hormonal and frustrating

Congratulations Amy and Vic! :T
Really hope your baby comes *very* soon Abis!
You do sound a bit of a Grinch MrsBunny!A few years ago we set a strict budget with family (as we don't really need/want much either) and with friends agreed not to buy gifts and do a meal out instead. Takes a lot of pressure off without being too miserable.
If you don't want to exchange gifts tell people you don't want anything rather than accepting gifts but telling people you've just donated to a charity (that they may not even support) but you might have left it a bit late, it's only a month away and a lot of people more organised than me will have already done their Christmas shopping! Try watching some Christmas movies, wear a novelty jumper, eat mince pies and try to get excited about it. Can you make presents? I second doing a big Amazon shop too, super easy and it's nice getting loads of parcels... just having all those parcels arrive makes me feel all excited for Christmas!
For anyone suffering with a bad back/PGP/SPD etc I have to recommend a heated throw! So much better than trying to sit with a hot water bottle on the right area, just sit on the blanket and wrap it around yourself and ooooooh it's so nice and soothing! Pretty much been snuggled up on mine all weekend, even took it to my friend's house last night when I visited!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Good luck with the sweep Abi
I can't believe when KScarlet has her section tomorrow that I'll be in the top 10! I've got my 34w MW appointment this morning, hoping she doesn't send me for another growth scan as baby has definitely grown loads since I last saw her and is all in the middle, fingers crossed.
re:Christmas - we're growing herbs, chilli's and peppers from seed to give to people this year. I've also made some flavoured oils and pickled onions to give people in hampers. OH has made limoncello and I'm going to make some onion & sultana chutney this week. I might also make some biscuits/gingerbread to go with the hampers, although we are following a chilli theme. We never know what to buy anyone and making presents seemed like a really nice thing to do, they might all think we're cheapskates though, although I'm sure we've still spent the same amount of money.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

MrsBunny tbh i think you've left it a bit late for this year and I've always found that christmas is what you make of it - if you're determined to be excited and in the spirit then you will be, but if you want to be miserable and bah humbug then that can be achieved as well lol
I try hard with presents for my immediate family -dh, parents, sisters and niece, but the extended family are boots 3 for 2, they've got some lovely stuff and really to me it's the gesture of giving the gift rather than what it actually is that's important if you get me
Christmas day is a mad rush for us, we see my immediate family, my dad's side and DH's immediate family and then see my mum's side on Boxing Day. every time i think it's too much but the one year we had christmas dinner at home it was really dull lol
Abis fingers crossed it's not too much longer for you! in my town there's a indian restaurant that'll make you a special curry if you tell them you're overdue, maybe have a ring round? lol
I definitely need to get a chest freezer before the baby comes so we can have some frozen meals ready to go lol
AFM i feel awful today, not ill enough to have the day off but there's definitely something throaty coming. could've cried in morrison's this morning as all the packets of lovely lovely drugs said 'do not take whilst pregnant'. i've ended up with a packet of halls so i'll have to convince myself there's a placebo affect lolLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6
