Afm - had nct breast feeding session yesterday, so oh now feels very informed and knows his role of protector & supporter
Baby's head feels like its right in my lady parts, it's quite painful to walk or open my legs so I'm assuming her heads dropped into my pelvis a bit. Will ask mw tomorrow. Had a terrible nights sleep because of it. Just had a weird feeling, a slight pain going across just below ribs. Then it stopped and went across the centre of my stomach. Not sure if bh or just baby on a nerve, but had I drawn it it was a straight line and baby wriggled loads when it went away. Just 3 days of work to get through then we're off to the lakes for our baby moon on saturday, can't believe how quickly that's come around.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Congratulations Amy! I love the name Bethany, but we can't use it as ours has the wrong bits
I've been so busy that I can't actually remember when I last posted. I was having a dreadful time with heartburn, so finally gave in and saw the doc, who happily prescribed Omeprazole - what a revelation! My stomach is back to normal again, and I can sleep better. I highly recommend it to anyone with the same issue.
I've had an busy week - working 14 hours most days and I will be the next 2 weeks as well. I realise that this isn't ideal for me or baby, and I am frankly completely exhausted, but I am teacher and this is a crazy time of year with controlled assessment, mock exams, and lots of other stuff which just has to be dealt with and is annoyingly time-consuming. Even last night I marked books for 3 hours - not my favourite way to spend Saturday evening!! Today I have to sand and paint some skirting boards and then I have about 7 hours worth of work to do. I really wanted to go swimming but I just don't think I have time. Only on here now as I'm waiting for OH to come home from Wickes with the sanding pads!
Just to make life more exciting, baby decided to give us a scare this week. Had midwife apt on Weds morning, and happened to mention that he'd had a quiet couple of days - and midwife promptly packs me off to hospital! Work not very impressed and OH unable to join me as he'd got a lift to leave me the car and had no way to get home. Hospital were very nice though, they scanned me first to verify heartbeat present, measured fluid and blood flow into placenta, decided that all looked normal for those.
Put me on a CTG for half an hour - I was watching the print out thinking this looks perfect, a nice steady flat line at 150bpm and feeling quite happy about it, until midwife arrives and tells me that it's not supposed to be flat - the line should wiggle about all over the place! So then they send me for a growth scan - again all looks normal. Baby is wiggling a bit on the scan but not much - so back to CTG monitor for another 40 mins. Anyway, baby eventually wakes up and starts moving, and midwives eventually decide that as nothing appears to be wrong and he is now moving normally I can go home.
On the plus side after my rather stressful afternoon - they confirmed that he is still a boy - and showed me his bits (which looked massive!!) and also that he is now head down.
OH has just got home - so off to get on with the sanding. We currently have a bathroom which has only a bath and loo. No lights, heating, tiles, flooring, paint on walls etc, as it is halfway through being renovated. Should be finished by end of next week and I am REALLY looking forward to my first bath in the finished room - I haven't had one for 7 years as there was only a shower before!
Good luck vic3 - hope all goes well for you and baby arrives easily and safely.0 -
Any ladies who have had their baby and still lurking here...?
Did anyone have baby in a midwife unit with no bed?
I really want to use our midwife unit, but there is no bed, only mats on the floor, and also a ball and a chair for OH.
I wonder how comfortable this is - I don't necessarily want to lie on my back but I think I would like the option of lying down for a rest if I can!
Any opinions?0 -

Thank you for all the good wishes. Despite being sent home from hospital at 3am as nothing was happening, I was back there at 5am and shocked the staff that I was 9cm dialated. After a tear, a cut and only gas and air, baby Thomas was born at 10.29am. He is 9lb 5oz and is perfect. I'm in love!
Sorry I queue jumped!!!
Lots of love to all. XxDS born November 2013 :smileyhea0 -

Congrats vic3
Fingers crossed for you abis! Hope that it is your body preparing
BWP I had gas and air taken off me when I was pushing, I think it is so you are concentrating on pushing and listening to what the midwife is saying instead of blowing on the gas and air (a lot of my concentration was gone on trying to not make the gas and air make duck noises as I was doing it...)
From memory of watching one of the OBEM eps on TV I think they said something along those lines too, they need the mother to be as focussed as possible.
They gave it back once baby was out and when delivering the placenta and checking things were OK afterwards though... so the duck noises resumed.0 -

Great news Vic :j:j Sounds as if it all happened quickly and he has a lovely name!
We are back to working on the nursery, it seems as if we have been doing it for ever. Today we are finishing off a few patches that have shone through on the walls and book shelves.
Next weekend I think I will start the mammoth nappy and clothing laundryTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0
