Arrrggghhh - I feel so inadequate with my mucus plug :rotfl: I don't even know if I have one - it didn't come away pre-labour with DD and wasn't noticeable if it came with the waters or anything.

Sorry if I sound insensitive. It must be a lot more worrying if you are not full term and are losing it. :o

I don't think it makes much odds if I am really honest. I don't think its a sign of labour being imminent. It can takes weeks after losing it for labour to start.

If you and DH were intimate - could it not just be leftovers maybe mixed up with discharge? Discharge can sometimes be egg-white n stretchy just like when you are ovulating. It might look like a mucus plug, but not be if you see what I mean?

I seem to lose a lot of discharge, but I think that's just natures way of keeping everything clean. Sometimes I even start to think my waters have broken from what leaks out - but then I remember what my waters breaking was like with DD and I know it isn't that...
I did wonder that, but it doesn't look like his stuff and I'm sure I got rid of all of that last night in the bathroom afterwards. Gosh sorry everyone for TMI. I'm going to keep an eye on it, it's not bloody. Just called my sister and she said some of it can come away but unless it's bloody then not to worry as some people lose some of it anyway. I did have a google and it looked like the non-bloody images, I've never seen it quite like that before.

Glad it's not just me with the excess discharge though, I've had that the past few weeks and wondered what on earth was going on.

welcome to all the new ladies, lovely to see my old friends joining me :)

re: mucus, i've always found mine's got a lot more snotty when i'm feeling run down/snotty in the nose. I've had loads of discharge during pregnancy, have to wear a pantyliner every day but i've been told that as long as it's white or yellow it's nothing to worry about

speaking of bump gropers, my sisters came round yesterday and i got right mauled! one on each side discussing what they could feel lol but it's lovely that they're excited, as i said to DH if the worst thing we can say is little lady is loved too much then she's a very lucky girl indeed. I'll just have to resign myself to not many cuddles during the day lol
Plus you know, they can't be more dangerous as adults then they was as toddlers, they were 15 months and 3yo when i was born and i had to be kept in the pram as they kept touching me and i got conjuntivitis :rotfl:

Abis it must be really hard to have everyone questioning you when you go over. I'm hoping the family history of premature babies will mean that i won't have that as everyone will just be thankful that she's full term. or i might get texts at like 37 weeks cos 'well, she's full term now...' lol

the Council i work for fires maroons (sound like cannons basically) on armsitice day at the start and end of the two minutes silence. even though i organised it and know they're loud, they make me jump every time. thought it would wake up little lady and i'd get a kick but it didn't seem to bother her. here's hoping she's just as sound a sleeper when she's here lol

I've got the dreaded GTT tomorrow, really can't be bothered but oh well, think i'll use it as an excuse to treat myself to the new Bridget Jones book lol x

Welcome to the big girl's thread Becca and Faithhope!
    What she said :D
I don't know what to do about the Perfect Prep, if we end up using formula I definitely want it but don't know if I'm going to be BFing or not?! Every time the price drops I think I should buy I but then I think we might not need it and it's too much money to waste. Argh! Hope the price drops and stays low, then we can put money aside to buy it if/when we need it. :)
Exactly. I know I could sell it on after, but tbh, am I really going to bother with a newborn to look after?? I suck at listing stuff now! :p
Had a grouch yesterday to OH that I seem to have missed the nice 2nd trimester bloom and energy burst... heading into the third trimester where it's all going to get worse! :p
I swear that's all just a fable. Stories told by women who only remember feeling sick in the first trimester and huge in the third, so it makes it sound like the 2nd was glorious :p
We also had a rant about how fed up we are of people saying 'You have no idea what you're in for', 'It's harder than you can ever imagine', 'You'll never go on holiday again' blah blah blah. Why do people insist on saying rubbish like this? Are they trying to put us off? (It's a bit late for that!), warn us, scare us?! I think that instead of trying to scare first time parents it would be nice if people could be positive... to just keep freaking quiet as I'm frankly quite sick of people gushing 'Oh, you've got no idea what love is until you're a parent' etc too! So basically... I just want people to !!!!!!! :rotfl:
This. Exactly this. I can be quite scathing with my responses to comments like this :D

Kerri_dfw, try not to worry too much, your body put the plug there, it will make sure there's enough protection for bubs until the time is right :)

Been thinking even more about the perfect prep and I have decided that for me if I have the bottle feeding equipment in the house that I will give up any attempts at breastfeeding the first time it gets tricky so I am going to leave it atm.
I think this is what I'm also concerned about... I also don't really want to use the TT bottles, but don't want the faff of trying to get others to fit. I should probably just focus on things I really do need for now and worry about the rest later... So hard when you're MSE ingrained and see the deals though :p

Thanks lao for your reply. In an eBay bundle I did get a Philips manual pump (head but no bottle) if I need to I can use that I suppose... And get a pump if it is working etc...

It's all the unknown factors that drive you batty isn't it? When they come, how they'll eat, how big they'll be, etc... The loss of perceived control...

As for my scan, it was good thanks :) MiniZee was not very cooperative lol, I had a bit of a scan, had to go for a walk (I'd had a chocolate bar and can of cold fizzy pop 20-30 minutes before, so not my fault ;) I just think MiniZee prefers savoury stuff! :p) then go back and try again, then s/he was nuzzling into the placenta like a pillow (in a very similar way to how DH sleeps ;)) and putting his/her arm up in the way, so I had to do star jumps to try and get the awkward mite to shift a bit :p I told the scanner the kinds of pics I find a bit freaky looking so we did our best to avoid them ;) she was good natured and laughing at me, but did her best to comply ;) There's one pic I really liked in particular, but I also have a cd of all the images (or will when it arrives in the post, the burner wouldn't work for some reason yesterday), a dvd of everything we saw on the screen, 2 keyrings with a pic in each for both of us, a fridge magnet, and 2 glossy prints (we could look through and choose which images we wanted printing for each thing). All for £120, which while a lot of money, was far better than the price of deals not offering nearly as much. (If anyone's in the North West and wants details of where, send me a PM) DH absolutely loved it, said it had made his month, got really emotional and said it helped him connect with MiniZee and brought the 3 of us closer as a family each time we had a scan :A For simply his joy alone, it was worth every penny :D

If anyone wants to see a pic, I'll try and upload one in a bit..?

Hi everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend (although it sounds as though you were all far too busy mucus-plug-inspecting, you 'orrible lot!:p) I managed a nap yesterday lunchtime and felt much better for it. I also had a sneaky gingerbread latte from Starbucks - probably ridiculously high in everything naughty (I read somewhere it's 600 calories not including the 2 stroop waffles I had!) but hey, I won't be drinking this year, got to have some treats. At £3.90 :eek::eek: it's not going to be a regular occurrence anyway! Also had cuddles with my friend's new baby, who is a beautiful little girl. Before she was born, they were worried that she may have had a hole in her heart and a problem with her digestive system but the hole in the heart has fixed itself, and she is breastfeeding/weeing/pooing normally so seems like it will be ok :T

Lilymay how are you doing? Sorry to hear little girl isn't growing as much as they'd like. Hope you are getting plenty of rest despite an active little boy to run round after.

Trina your little boy is lovely, thanks for the update xx

TL it is amazing the noises they will sleep through. DD would sleep through me showering, drying my hair, hoovering etc. However now she's 2, she can hear a packet of biscuits opening 3 streets away lol. (I wonder where she gets that from ;))

Abis I didn't even go overdue with DD but from about 35 weeks onwards it was all anyone talked about. I felt like saying "I will update my Twitter with every detail if you really want!" ... Sure they'd have loved that
09.42 Diarrhea this morning - could this be it?!
10.53 Cramp around groin ... hot towels at the ready
11.45 Everything has slowed down but here's a picture of my "show"! Not long left!

And the "hilarious" questions - haven't you had that baby yet? "Oh yes I have but I've just stuffed a prosthetic bump up there and left her at home just hours old to come on this godforsaken work's do with everyone I can't stand"

Hello becca and faithhope it is lovely to see you here!

  • Aah BZ glad your scan went well, we had one last weekend (I was 29 + 5 I think). Your DH is so sweet and it's lovely that he gets so excited! He will be boring everyone at work today with his keyring I bet lol. We were fortunate enough to get ours on Groupon for £29 so got a couple of extra pics. As luck would have it it was at the same place I had my early scan so I knew the clinic was clean, safe etc. Amazing comparing it to DDs one done at same stage! I will post pics if anyone wants a nosy!

Of course we'd like to see a pic BZ! So glad you enjoyed it and your OH sounds like the sweetest man! :)

We've bought a manual pump (OH got carried away one day and ordered loads of stuff as he decided he was going to help with night feeds if I'm BFing :o) but it wasn't expensive so if I don't use it I won't mind too much, I'll just pass it on to someone who can use it. :) I just wish I knew what was what already so I can be fully prepared either way. :o

Hope the GTT goes well tomorrow TL, enjoy reading your book! :)

  • Your scan sounds lovely. I am itching to see my little boy's face but I don't think OH would go for spending that sort of money.
    Post a pic for us!!

Well after throwing up pure stomach acid last night and having horrendous reflux for hours, I admitted defeat and called into work sick. I just could not deal with standing in front of teenagers while retching acid!!

I have been to see the doctor this morning and she prescribed me Omeprazole. I took the first one as soon as I came home, and I can't say it's worked yet, but I should probably wait longer than a couple of hours. :rotfl:

I'm not having the best day anyway, with some pointy hard bit of baby wedged firmly under my ribs making sitting down really uncomfortable. I can't lie down either because of the reflux.

Anyone know how to encourage baby to turn head downwards and unwedge pointy bits?
I'm 30+2 and he is still lying across me at the moment.

It's funny how everyone tells you about sleepless nights due to crying baby and tantrums and stinky nappies, and horrendous labour experiences, but no-one warns you how uncomfortable pregnancy itself can be!!!

Hugs to everyone suffering a bit - pregnancy is so unglamourous! I've had a good weekend, slept well for a change and only a bit of back ache to complain about. Hubby put up the cot yesterday and the nursery looks less and less like a spare room each weekend! My next job for the room is blackout curtains.

Debating whether to buy some more mat trousers - I've only got two pairs that are ok for work (and six weeks left working) and the under the bump ones feel really unsupportive now - possibly making the back ache worse. Might try and get some over-bump trousers (jeggings or chinos or something that works for home and the office) if I can do it without too much hassle/ spend.

Have a good week one and all. A quiet one for me, no midwives/ medicals etc but interviewing for my maternity cover towards the end of the week whish will be very strange! 29 weeks tomorrow.

    xx

Fran-o i am in love with my new look over the bump maternity trousers. over the bump is *definitely* the way to go, so much more comfy!

Ellie2009 honestly i swear when i'm done with pregnancy i'm going to write a book 'what they don't tell you happens during pregnancy'. my latest one is that i have what can only be described as tiny skin tags on my nipples. how i've managed that i'll never know.

BigZ so pleased the scan went so well, even if little one wasn't cooperating lol i just know my little awkward so and so wouldn't, she's very camera shy, haven't got a decent picture of her yet lol in fact at the anamoly scan when the lady said 'she doesn't seem to want me to take a picture' she put her hands over her face and turned her back to us! that'll be me told then lol
looking forward to a non freaky pic of MiniZ hehe

Just asked for the days i want for my remaining leave and i've worked it out so that i don't have to work a full week again. which is immense lol also means i have 22 working days left, a nice number to start counting down from i feel

^^ Me too! What the flip is going on there?!

22 working days left- that's nothing! Enjoy it, every time someone annoys you it may well be the last time so you can just smile knowing it'll soon be over! :)
