Exciting Scar! 26th really isn't that far away at all
Are you sure your hospital don't provide formula in the ready to drink bottles with pre-packed teats? I thought that was pretty standard across the board - there are a million and 1 reasons someone might not be able to breastfeed and baby would still need something. That's pretty poor if not!0 -
I used SMA with DS and will be doing the same with this baby just because they're about £1 a bottle, where as the other ones can be £1.20-£1.50 a bottle and I personally don't feel like there's a lot of difference.0
-
I've always been told that the only reason midwives are less keen on oral vitamin K is that baby will need more than one dose which could mean you're in hospital for longer (some areas will let you administer at home though, so worth checking), and administering it orally to newborns is a bit of a pain for them0
-
Rummer - hope you manage to have an early night. I've been super sleepy today and had a nap despite sleeping quite well last night.
Vic - I'm a bit jealous if you are losing yr plug! I didn't lose mine last time - ended up being induced. I keep looking out for signs like that this time but nothing so farHope you enjoy your curry
I finally packed most of my bag - surely the baby can come now?! :rotfl: Just got to sort out toiletries n stuff like that, might buy a spare toothbrush etc so I don't have to pack as much last minute. Not that I want to be staying in there long enough to use it - but I was in for 2 nights last time so best be prepared...

Scar - Providing bedding for a newborn baby?! That really takes the biscuit. I'm sad that you've had such a rubbish hospital!
I am so thankful to have a fab unit. Of course, I have yet to see what the post natal bit is like but I'm hoping it's as good as the ante natal has been.
Claire - Unless that post natal ward also doubled as a secure mental health unit, there was nothing to stop your friends leaving. Sadly, far too much pressure is put on new mothers especially at a time when they are feeling overwhelmed anyway. So sad
Vic - Are you 37 weeks? Hope your body starts the process at some point in the next 3 weeks!!
Abis - Lovely pic of your bump. I notice there are no stretch marks
Zippy - I pondered a 3D scan but decided against it. I sort of feel like it's a waste of money for us as we have scans so regularly although I an see why others have them.
I'm trying to decide whether or not to upgrade DS's carseats. He has a fairly basic Maxi Cosi one at the moment and I would like something a bit better, but we have 2 cars and everything I buy needs to match so I'd have to shell out for 2 carseats at the same time. Decisions decisions!

We had a lovely time at Bluestone, I definitely recommend it to anyone thinking if going. The lodge was amazing and it was already childproofed with baby gate at top and bottom of the stairs, an amazing folding cot. It said travel cot in the blurb on the website, but when we got there it was a proper wooden cot that folded. My LO is 19 mths and she slept very well in it and as I won a 4 bed lodge she had her own room and bathroom as there were 3 bathrooms!! Even better that I won the 4 night break so it was free!!
I did take a gamble as I didn't take my notes or a hospital bag, but I was 10 days over with DD1 so figured I've still got time!!
I'm was 38 weeks on Thurs, getting a very large belly now. I'm pretty sure it is bigger than with DD1, but the mw said it is measuring just under or bang on, but with her it was over every time.
Will read back when I canGot married 13/11/10

Thanks for the input about the 3d/4d scans, and for the fab photo (and tip) Continual
it gave me hope
DH really wanted to go for one, he actually got a bit downhearted last time we went to the hospital (for a consultant appointment) when he realised it wouldn't be another chance to see the baby. He's always said, since the BFP, that he wanted to go for a 3D scan, so I looked into local packages and places. I'm 31+4 now (Sunday) and they recommend doing them up to 32 weeks, so we're running out of time!
I rang the best-package-for-the-cheapest-price place this afternoon just to see if they had any availability... They do, tomorrow (Sunday)! So... I guess we're going tomorrow! DH actually got really (happy) emotional when I booked it, bless him :A
We've been waiting so long & fought so hard for this baby - and DH is SO excited about him/her - that if he really wants to do this, I think I can't really say no.Plus our take home print from the 20 week scan was truly naff, even though what we saw in the screen was crystal clear! (I just hope the resulting pics from tomorrow aren't disappointing
)
I asked what would happen if baby wasn't cooperating and she said they'd get me to walk round for a bit and then bring me back in, and if still being awkward they'd bring me back another time, so that was reassuring, cos not all places dohopefully MiniZee cooperates, and we get some great footage and pics... Watch this space!
I'm so tempted by the swing pump and the prefect prep machine... I really want to breastfeed though, but I'm realistic enough that I know it might not be that easy /work for me... I think even if it does work I'll end up expressing some feeds for DH to give bubs... But I don't know whether to preempt the situation by getting any kit...? I also keep thinking "there will be other deals..." but then I start doubting it and driving myself a little nuts!
I want the Gro Egg temperature thing for our living room too, which is currently £9.99? on Amazon atm, which is calling me (but I don't know if anyone's getting it is for Christmas as it's on my wishlist)... I'm wondering about getting Mothercare /Babies R Us to price match in store. Also wondering whether if I took it back unopened without a receipt they'd give me gift cards so I could swap it for something else if someone else did give us one...?
Also, I got an email from Toys R Us days there's 20% off everything with a code/voucher, instore and online, just for this weekend. Does anyone know, if they price match, will they then let me use the voucher too?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
BigZippy I had a 4D scan at 16 weeks (to find out gender) and again at 28 weeks. Both times I was amazed
it's a 'you only get one chance' situation. I never had one with my son but regretted it. Obviously it's not something you have to do but we loved every minute
my son got to watch on a big screen which he still talks about now (I'm 37w1d now) it was lovely to see baby wriggling/ sucking her thumb etc. we also got to see close ups of her facial features. I would do it again! It's not cheap but DH kept saying we may aswell as we can't do it when she's here. The photos/ DVD are really lovely keepsakes too xx
Re: prices it's so difficult knowing what to do! I paid £46 for the perfect prep, I figured I could always sell it should I not need it. I think I paid £14 for my gro egg but I really had to search! £9.99 is good and they seem to resell well.Trying to save for a deposit
