    Also, a handy tip.

Shops aren't allowed to offer discounts on Stage 1 infant milk (0-6 months), however, if you're doing a big shop with Ocado you can use one of their various discount vouchers (like £20 off a £80 spend) on infant milk.

I did it numerous times when we were buying DS's milk and I have an order coming at the beginning of December for the same thing for the baby. My order consists entirely of SMA (so I hope she likes it!) and I've ended up with £80 worth of milk for £60 delivered. OCado's prices aren't any more expensive than anywhere else either because all stage 1 milk costs a fair wack.

Don't tell me how they get away with it but I hope that helps anyone else who loves paying as little as possible for things :)

Thanks for the tip. I have vouchers for sainsburys so may give it a go. Really hoping to breastfeed but am keeping an open mind if it doesn't work out.

Formula is a minefield! I am not sure what to use this time around. I think I had cartons of SMA last time just incase then my son was in special care so they tube fed him Aptimal so we were advised to keep to that. I think Cow&Gate and Aptimal are the same thing so I was going to go for C&G. I really do not know! x

Aptamil and C&G are indeed the same, and the infant feeding advisors on my ward swear that the advice to not switch between formulas is perpetuated only by the companies - they're all essentially the same (albeit with small differences usually based on season rather than brand) and switching shouldn't have any adverse effects on baby unless there are more serious and rare complication like allergies and intolerances.
I am really undecided about things like vitamin K, my son had it as TBH I think I was so out of it I just said yes. This time I have been told baby can have a jab or have it orally. My MW didn't seem keen on the oral option but I hate the idea of jabbing a newborn. Apparently I can also take a CD for when I am in theatre and choose what track my baby is born to, DH keeps suggesting stupid things :rotfl:
I love the idea of choosing the music baby will be born to - but I guess my DH may have some 'interesting' suggestions too :rotfl: I've always been told that the only reason midwives are less keen on oral vitamin K is that baby will need more than one dose which could mean you're in hospital for longer (some areas will let you administer at home though, so worth checking), and administering it orally to newborns is a bit of a pain for them ;)

ETA: I can't believe you had to provide sheets at the hospital! All these tales of no milk and / or bedding are making me think my ward is a lot more generous than I gave us credit for!

I completely agree *delurking*! My LO is currently on SMA, but has also had C&G and Aptimil - with no real difference.

I compared the ingredients of C&G and Aptimil and apart from one teeny difference....they are exactly the same (same company anyway)...I am going to go back to C&G as that's the cheapest.

I researched and found that Aptimil is just in premium packaging, made to look like the better brand - and for this you pay an extra £2 a box of the powdered version! (I was initially sucked in....but not anymore!).

Thanks thats really interesting about milks :) my son had allergies so he was moved onto a prescribed formula after a few weeks but obviously like you said slightly different circumstances. I will have a look through :)
LOL the music thing did make me laugh, I love the idea of it but I feel a bit mixed as I didn't have anything like that for my son. I can't think of DHs suggestions but they were really daft! I will have a look see if I can find anything that might at least help me relax!
The sheets thing was really ridiculous! Surely sheets are such a basic thing for a hospital to have! I can remember being given one then my son was sick and the MW being really funny about giving me another!

Congratulations poppy and... it's gone clean out of my head who the other lady was! :o ETA: one tree! That was it! Congrats ;)

Quick question : has anyone had a 4d scan around 30 ish weeks and if so what did you think of it? I've seen some before that have frankly been a bit scary looking! :o it really put me off but DH really wants one (and I'm running out of time to get it done!) so I'm looking again... But I don't want to shell out £100+ and be disappointed with freaky pics ;):o

Congratulations to Poppy & Onetree - and any other birth announcements I missed! Hope miffy is ok and enjoying time with her LO.

Its bit shocking being no 2 on the list  Seems to be going so quickly towards the end - its quite frightening in a way :o

Had a midwife appt yesterday and that's it then til 41weeks! I said I was hoping not to turn up to that one :p I was 10 days over and induced last time though - so I am prepared for the long haul, even if I would very much prefer not to have to do that!

I need to pack my bag still. And we still need a name for the baby. We have a kind of shortlist for boys and girls - but the ones that I prefer are DHs least favourite and vice versa. I definitely want a name before having the baby, so its kind of beginning to stress me a little now. DDs name is very unusual - but not in a chavvy or mis-spelt name kind of way. I love her name - but feel like the pressure is on a little - as I can't have anything too common or plain next to her name iyswim... Have spend ages reading my name book, looking on websites and forums etc but nothing is 'coming to me' like people promised it would :rotfl:

Here's a pic from my painted bump shoot I did the other day. Painting my own bump was hard at this stage! I could only see 1/4 of it, so it was all mirror work. I tried to design it personally to us as well, the tatty bear is because we have clothing in that range already, the balloons are the nursery characters from our theme, and the rainbow is to signify this being our rainbow baby.

I love all the other pics too - but I didn't think they'd look right with heads chopped off posted on here! I had a 'plain' bump shoot and a painted one as I wanted to have the painted one for my business page.

Grr just wrote a post then DH turned off the electric as I pressed post so I lost it lol but I can't be mad- the new shower is being installed :D been having baths since we moved in as shower didn't work properly and I've hated it, hips are too sore for it plus I need DH to help haul me back out as there's no handle or anything on the inside to grip and I'm scared of falling

BigZ pictures of 4d scans freak me out too but I bet the actual scan is wonderful to see- so I'd have and enjoy the scan but ignore the pictures after lol
Although you may find it hard to stay team yellow, baby might turn and in 3d there'll be no denying what they're packing

Abis lovely bump picture, looks really sweet :)
We've had the name chosen since about 20 weeks as I found one that was perfect but I can't remember where, although it is Shakespearean. I'd never heard it before and its not in the top 100 names, so maybe have a look at classic literature rather than baby name books?

Yes I did at 31+2 and loved it. I followed the instructions to a tee, eating a mars bar and having fizzy pop 20mins before hand & walking around outside. In the end I went in 45mins late but refused to sit down, I just kept walking around outside or standing talking to my hubby etc. The reason I was late going in was because scans weren't clear and they were sending people back out to eat something and then got them back in.

However mine was fab and this was the result:

Morning ladies, on the phone so already forgotten names sorry but thsts the cutest bump I've seen, love the teddy :)

OH is really upset this morning, I *think* he's been trying to organise a baby shower with his friends and they've just really let him down. He's always been second best to them and just there to make up the numbers but he takes it all to heart bless him.
