Can I ask what part of the antenatal advice you got that you felt was unhelpful? would just like to know how much to take with a pinch of salt when I go :)
That it doesn't hurt at all if you are doing it correctly was a big one as that combined with all the stories people tell about how their baby got really ill/underweight due to only getting "foremilk" due to not latching on properly made me very worried when I got very sore and BFing was painful when in fact it is fairly normal/common to get some soreness. Also, the whole "foremilk" and "hindmilk" myth was perpetuated by MWs and the written information I was given. Also, the "all or nothing" type information which makes out that any bottles will cause huge problems was unhelpful as we ended up giving a couple of bottles overnight one night when I was really sore and I was worried that it meant the baby would no longer be able to breastfeed properly.
  • Congratulations to all the people who have given birth recently - I go away for a week and I'm sure there have been about a dozen births within that time!
  • Just remembered, I've been meaning to share this link for people suffering from SPD: http://www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk/ From what I've read on it, it seems around 90% of cases are treatable and only around 10% of people should have to just live with it until the end of the pregnancy.

Hi ladies, congrats on the new arrivals and thanks for more lovely photos!

Went for my 28 wk midwife appt today, usual blood pressure, pee test, heartbeat and chat. Got bump measured and all well there. Also popped into GP for whooping cough jab but was turned away as I'm 27+6 - I booked it thinking the jab was for anytime around 28wks but apparently it's strictly after 28wks. Am rebooked to go back. I did have a ponder about the whooping cough jab more than the flu jab etc as its so new but decided to go for it. There is asthma (allergies eczema etc) in my family and I remember having croup when I was about 7 or 8 - not being able to breathe was so frightening. My colleague who's child had whooping cough said it was the scariest thing they went through with their kids. So on balance for me the risk is outweighed by the the benefit. But I understand its a really personal choice.

Have been a bit miserable of late, sleep getting harder, getting on and off back pain and trying to buy a car - stress! Hugs to everyone struggling with their shape. One day I love having a bump, the next I'm feeling frumpy!

KScarlett - I had the same worry about not been able to hoover (and clean ) after a C Section as I clean everyday. When I first got home I cried (hormones!!!) because I couldn't clean up and my OH and mum were very bossy about it!

To be fair though I couldn't have done it even though I really wanted to!! Although I didn't feel 'pain' 3 days after the section I felt very pulled and achy. It's hard to describe the feeling but you 'know' you can't do much. 4 weeks on and I have driven and 'done the deed' with OH both of which I was told I could do between 4 and 6 weeks depending when I felt ready. The driving caused me to have very achy muscles - like I'd been to the gym so I've been left not really knowing if I am 'ready' or not as I imagine it's normal to feel achy when you've 'rested' for so long.
  • hey ladies,

My SPD is getting beyond a joke so uncomfortable :( I am so bloody broody at the moment I want to fast forward a couple of months I want to smell and snuggle my baby :)
Just take each day as it comes. :)
    Bump due 18th January :j

I imagine that is related to the CS rather than resting as I did virtually nothing for eight months in my last pregnancy and never had any aching from driving. I had aching from walking around and my legs were stiff and achy every morning for a few months but driving never caused any aching at all.

We are delighted to welcome little Joshua Luke into the world this morning 08:20am on 3.11.13 weighing 7lb 7oz.

Sorry BabaMoose, hope you're having your little bundle right now.

Sorry I've been away for a few guys. The news that my induction buddy had deserted me hit me hard... so I've been sulking.

Either that or the fact that 20mins after I posted on Saturday night my waters broke and about 4 hours later I had a baby. I HAD A BABY. It's fricking awesome.

So - the Boldie Boys obviously kept to their plan Angelmommy :)

Joshua Luke - meet Jack Matthew (born 5.27am by surprise)

(surprise labour, not surprise induced like a hiccups cure)

Glad to say that although he made me wait 8 days, my waters broke unexpectedly at 1.20am, I called the hospital whilst contractions started (started with 2min intervals), arrived at hospital at 2am, was in delivery suite and pushing by 5am.
No tearing thankfully, and done on gas & air - which didn't make me sick, I'd done that all by myself before the gas & air started... It was a tad exorcism styley.

Told that I could go home on Sunday afternoon, finally got released at 8pm tonight (Monday). They have slow computers apparently. .. ... .....

Anyhow we're all very happy and fingers crossed for everyone in the thread! I'll be a lurking to await announcements and also be hopping over the to next scary bored to talk about actual baby people.

p.s. I forgot my password so have been reading your messages but couldn't respond to any!
I loved your announcement Angelmommy! When I was holding Jack I did mention I felt really guilty for leaving my date buddy!

p.p.s. I am no longer bitter about my friend who went in to active labour that I posted about 20mins before my waters broke.......

Haha Awesome news! Welcome to the world Jack Matthew (adorable little man btw - we all seem to have good looking children on here; fab genes!!) and congratulations to Mummy & Daddy. Woohoo to the boldie birthday buddies! Strange to think 2 days ago we were wondering when on earth it would all happen and just a little while later, we are cuddling them. See you on the other thread! Xx
