  • Thank you for all your lovely comments. Joshua is a little gem. I fed him at 10pm, woke him for a feed at 3am and he's still sleeping! Haven't heard him cry as yet. First yucky nappy last night and omg it's so much harder cleaning a boy than a girl! I had to move his balls around to get in all the creases.

The birth wasn't too bad although my girls were only a max of 4 hours; with Joshua I started having contractions at 11:50pm sat night, went to hospital at 2:20am and started using birthing pool at 3am with gas and air but neither were helping enough as I suffer from blackouts/seizures and the dizzy feeling was bringing on a blackout each contraction so I would have to stop using the entonox but getting the full force of the pain. Got out of pool at 4am, contractions then were coming every 2mins. Had pethidine at just after 6am then got an almighty urge to push so went with it and my waters burst lol (yay but totally weird - the pressure made it spray up in the air as I was laying on the bed - hubby said I looked like a fountain!). They moved me onto a birthing chair with a seat behind so hubby could massage me and a rope thing for me to pull on, at the front (as seen on OBEM). It was actually pretty good for gripping when I had to push tho, hubby said it stopped him being able to see Joshua actually being born. Took an hour and a half to push Joshua out as he was back to back (10mins for my girls which explains why I feel like I've been punched in my girly bits!). A minute after he came out, the placenta fell out, didn't even need to push. Only had slight grazing so no need for stitches (yay). 8.5hrs from start to finish. Found out afterwards that I was only given a half dose of pethidine as they expected my 3rd to be easy and I was 7cm when they gave it to me, which is why I didn't feel any pain relief actually helped me although none of us knew he was back to back until he came out wide-eyed and staring up at me. First wee was excruciating but all since have been ok. Feel good just tummy a bit painful when Joshua laying on it for a feed but paracetamol helping loads. Yay to being able to move about and sleep how ever I want in bed, pât! on toast and I can see my bits again - woohoo!

Haven't seen BabaMoose on here since sat night so am hoping she's had her little one now too.

Will lurk for a while to see you guys have your gorgeous little bundles. Best of luck to everyone and thanks for all your help/advice/friendship along this part of my journey. Xxx

I am lurking to see BabaMoose's announcement :rotfl:

I should really go and tidy though - it's my birthday today and I've apparently been 'miserable' by saying I don't want to go out so I'm expecting to be innundated by family all day

ETA: Just had a phonecall from the docs to say that my cholesterol results were high and they were surprised because they're usually good (I have them routinely monitored once a year because of pre-pregnancy meds)... turns out this is completely normal and they shouldn't have done them while I'm pregnant :doh:Despite me seeing the GP and midwife regularly at that practice, it would appear that no-one bothered to tell the practice nurse that I haven't taken that medication for over a year and don't need the 3 extra blood tests she subjected me to... Oh well :rotfl:

Congratulations Locky, Trina, Brunettegirl and AngelMommy! :j

The list is looking more sensible now, no more ladies going bold for a while! :)

Had my flu jab on Saturday and was expecting a bit of soreness around where the needle went in but I've got a really sore elbow instead?! Can't put any weight on it (ended up on the floor when I tried to use my elbows to push myself out of my armchair last night! :o), keep forgetting about it and resting it on my desk then squeaking in pain! Hope it doesn't last long. :)

Was supposed to be going out with my friends on Saturday night as they'd planned a cocktail making class (mocktails for me) but I cried off as I was feeling so worn out, found last week really hard with feeling tired and sore all the time and my back has been really bad with no relief. :o I would have gone along for a bit if we were going somewhere local but it involved a 30 min drive to a train station, then a 30 minute train journey... to then walk I don't know how far to the bar and sit on uncomfortable bar stools/standing around for a couple of hours. Not good for my poor back and no easy escape once I'd had enough! My friend who organised it didn't even bother to text me back when I explained how bad I was feeling so I wasn't able to go, but would still cover my share of the cost for the evening so she wasn't out of pocket. Nice to know she cares and doesn't just see me as the rubbish pregnant one... oh, wait! :p Believe me, I'd have rather been out having fun than spending my Saturday night laid up with a hot water bottle and struggling to find a comfortable position to sit/lie in! :o

Oh my gosh - so many babies have been born! Congratulations to you all :j:j:j Gorgeous pic Angel - I can't quite still believe that I will have my own lickle baby very soon.

Happy birthday Amy  It was mine yesterday :D I had a little Halloween themed party on Saturday so got the visitors out the way then so we could spend the day just the 3 of us yesterday - it was lovely.

I had my bump shoot yesterday as well - it went brill :j So looking forward to seeing the edited pics. I am having another mini shoot today as I will be painting my bump - so need a couple of 'proper' pics taking of that for my business page etc.

First day of being on maternity on my own today as DD is back at school. Seems a bit surreal so far. Not really helped by me falling over on the way back from the school run tho :o Not sure exactly how I managed it but I managed to hit the deck - luckily nowhere near my tum. Have bent my left little finger back tho and that's v sore - and my leg took a bashing as that took the brunt of the impact with the curb. Felt more silly rather than anything else tho :o

BZ - I got the cheaper scale of the matresses in the end - but I guess its a personal choice.

Amy - my Braxton hicks have stepped up a few gears as well now :( They keep getting me in the middle of the night as well, so its giving me really disturbed sleep. Theres been a few times that I've thought about timing them cos they seem to be getting regular - and then they usually tail off. I can't believe how much stronger they are this time round than with DD. Hope they are doing well at strengthening everything ready for a nice birth :D

I really must pack my hospital bag today I think! I have bought everything I need now tho I think - so its just a case of putting it all together. Think I might start making some lists of things to do this week otherwise I am in danger of just slobbing around too much and 'resting' :rotfl:

Glad the bump shoot went well Abis! Would love to see some pics! :) I love the thought of it, but I'm so awkward in front of a camera, my photos would probably end up in the 'Awkward Family Photos' catergory of the internet as opposed to Pinterest-worthy shots! :rotfl:

Forgot to say that I went to my first NCT sale on Saturday. The nearly-new aspect was very loose at this sale, I wouldn't touch half the toys because they looked extremely well loved! :p I spent a whole £4 on a Tommee Tippee nappy bin and a pair of Ted Baker dungarees, hardly the haul I was expecting. :)

BZ, with mattresses we went middle of the road-ish. We wanted something that would last as we've got a cot bed so didn't want to skimp for now to then have to buy a new one in a few years when we turn it into a toddler bed but didn't see the point in buying a top of the range one since babies/toddlers are so small they hardly need that much support. We got a pocket sprung but I can't remember all the features now/why we chose it, will have a look when I go home. :o I do remember talking to the shop assistant who was talking us through the options and one of the more expensive options was a heat regulator which we thought we'd need as our bedrooms get a bit chilly but she said it's only really for extreme hot/cold rooms, as long as the room doesn't drop below 18 degrees you don't need the special heat regulating mattress. We've been keeping an eye on the temperature in the bedroom for weeks now and it's always in the ideal range so we're happy that we didn't spend the extra as it wasn't needed. :)

Birdie - I'll post some pics once I have them back - think it takes a week or so. I think you just need a good photographer tho - shes very good at moving you and letting you know about bra straps showing and the like. I am chunky all over - and whilst I have a big ol bump now - in some positions I just look fat all over rather than pregnant. So we worked on positioning to make sure that the bump was prominent on each pic. I know I won't want any pics where I don't look 'pregnant' so obviously its in her best interest to position us all correctly.

She did really well with my DD as well as sometimes it can be a pain getting her to look at the camera and smile too. The package I got was that I got to choose 13 edited pics (so she blends out stretch marks etc - cos again I wouldn't want pics with them showing) and cos I am her friend she's let me do it over 2 days cos I didn't want to be painting my bump on my birthday (its quite hard to paint myself and can be a bit uncomfy - am going to be starting soon...) plus I also wanted some pictures without my bump painted as well.

Once todays shoot is done me and DD have the hard task of choosing the 13 pics that we want to keep. I think that will be tricky as we had a very quick flick through yesterday and she had some really amazing pics. I've already pencilled in a couple of dates for a newborn shoot too - sooooo excited! I didn't take anywhere near enough pics of my DD when she was tiny or of my bump (in fact I don't think I got any!) so I am making sure I have some better memories this time round as it does all change in the blink of an eye. DD is 4'4" now!! She's only 7 but shes soooo tall!

I think you did the right thing on the cocktail making night btw - but she probably just doesn't appreciate how tiring being pregnant can be and how jamas are the most exciting things at the moment!

I have a pic of some pottery I painted the other day for the nursery. It stays there for glazing and firing - so am looking forward to picking it up :D

  • Congrats Angel, what a lovely picture of Joshua.

I've been coming back on here when I can so I can see all the baby news. Time goes too quick as cannot believe I had my little girl on the 6th of Oct.

Though only yesterday did I feel normal in terms of my recovery from my c section. It was the 1st time walking around that I didn't feel uncomfortable in my tummy and could walk at a much better pace. I'm sure people have thought 'gosh women, get a move on' when I have been walking the past few weeks.

I know I'm back to normal as just knew yesterday that I was up for doing more. I'm sure the novelty will wear off but have loved getting stuck into cleaning, moped the floors yesterday and done 2 loads of washing today so far. It was getting to me wanting to do jobs, seeing they needed doing but just knew I couldn't.

C sections definitely take a lot longer to recover from than I had ever imagined. But it was worth it especially when I captured this picture of her yesterday.
