Week 2 I put the washing out that hubby had done because I felt better and that I could manage. Tummy felt a bit tender but I wasn't in pain, however the next day is when it set me back. I think for me also week 2 I felt like I would be able to do stuff as I'd finished the course of pain killers I came home with + finished with the injections (I never knew you had to self inject with blood thinners)
It's hard to comprehend that inside a lot of healing is going on because on the outside it doesn't look major.
Even though its taken a mth to feel myself it has gone quick and my incision is now all flat with a very thin red line. I'm now going to start using bio oil on it to help it not be as noticeable.
Thanks so much for thisI think it will be a case of just taking it easy. I was in a slight panic as I will have my son and a newborn to look after and DH only home for initial 2 weeks (which will be some of the time I am in hospital as his leave starts the day before my section) however since speaking to DH he has informed me he's booked some holiday to follow his leave - phew!! I am guessing DH wont let me do much he's been very particular since I have been pregnant. Hope you are doing ok now x

It's still an emotive subject though - people have asked why I didn't BF and having suffered an awful birth it rakes it all back up. I haven't done skin to skin or BF - 2 things that are so heavily endorsed I can't help but wonder what impact missing them has because it's gone on about so much.0

Hugs Amy xxx I think most of us feel uncomfortable with our bodies while pregnant, I feel like a beached whale! It doesn't help DH keeps making odd jokes about how huge I am and how I cant fit through doorways (I can!) I am down to 2 pairs of maternity trousers now and have to wear baggy tops as nothing fits/ covers my bump. I cant even do my coat up! I just keep thinking 'I will deal with how I look after the baby is here' I am hoping to eat healthier and take little miss out for plenty of walks once she's here xxTrying to save for a deposit

Yup spot on. I am on the list to help at my local group now. As I am desperate to get the message out there. I wonder how we can change this - although I'm also thinking mummies get full of info pre birth so maybe it wouldnt make much difference? Altough they just may remember something that is a key thing. I dunno something definately needs doing.0

Congratulations to all the new arrivals, I love all the photos and very cute names
Happy recovery to all you mums.
Just having a sneaky look on Eb*y for a moses basket and cot, have put a bid or two on, fingers crossed! I'm still reluctant to buy anything just yet...
What do people think of milk of magnesium / glycerin supps for that blocked up-ness? I'm not having a good time of it!
I got OH to buy Babyscope app for his iphone, it's supposed to pick up the baby's heartbeat, but all we could hear was a whooshing sound. Luckily I felt lots of kicking yesterday or I'd be worried. Waste of £3 maybe.
Midwife appointment tomorrow so hopefully I'll hear the heartbeat then.
Woke up at 4am and then couldn't go back to sleep so a bit grumpy today!

BadlyWrittenPoem wrote: »I once read about a WHO programme in some African country which had a very low BF rate due to lots of cultural myths about breastfeeding. They introduced an education programme which involved classes for prospective mothers *and* prospective fathers (can't remember if they were all together or separate classes) and the BFing rates soared from much lower than here to over 90% and far surpassed the expectations and aims of the programme. One of my biggest hinderances was the inaccurate/unhelpful information given antenatally and DH believing in BFing was key to me continuing as if he had suggested formula at the point when I was finding it hardest I have no doubt I would have switched so I can see how a programme giving proper information and support to both parents in advance would make a difference.
My midwife recommended to me that i go on a breastfeeding workshop she was running and said specifically that DH should come with me so he knows the same information. I'm glad she did, as otherwise i wouldn't have thought of him coming too but this way he can give more encouragement/support when it's needed, hopefully!
Can I ask what part of the antenatal advice you got that you felt was unhelpful? would just like to know how much to take with a pinch of salt when I go
Of course, when i told him the date he got very concerned and conflicted as he thought it was the same night as his works christmas do :rotfl:Little Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

DS2 because he was 'grunting' and they thought he might have an infection. He was out at 11am, but they weren't happy by evening, and said even if he wasn't poorly, it was too cold to take a baby outside!0 -
Big hugs fr you Amy. With the lost nightie, is there any way of getting it back if you give them a phonecall? They must be used to people sending things by accident! My OH was sending a load of stuff to Music Magpie once and accidentally sent a pair of my glasses (luckily I've had my eyes lasered and the glasses were out to be sent to charity, they weren't needed!) and they sent them back recorded delivery within a couple of days as they thought they were really important. Not the same as your situation of course, but it's proof that these types of companies have a heart!
Big old hugs for everyone struggling with their image right now too. I had put on weight before getting PG as I'd been struggling with TTC and ended up comfort eating far more than was normal. So that extra weight combined with my growing bump are making me feel pretty grim.
It doesn't help that my friends are all on diets ATM and the weight is dropping off them... feel like such a fat frump next to them all! It's good that my bump is very definite now and it's obvious that I'm not just podgy, but I've still got the podge on top of the bump; my bump is quite low and the squishy fat has been pushed to the top so if anyone wants to touch my belly I make sure they touch the hard bit not the flabby bit because I'm self conscious about it!
I think OH is getting to the stage where he's a bit put-off by my big belly too, he rarely touches it unless I make him feel baby kicking and if my top rides up or I flash my belly at him he grimaces and tells me to put it away!
I don't know what he's going to be like when I'm full term!

I'm after some opinions please. I have my whooping cough and flu jab booked for tomorrow but I am still unsure if I should have them. Flu I am mostly ok with, but everywhere I turn I read/hear nasty reviews about whooping cough jabs in pregnancy.
Did you go for it? Anyone who refused to have it? If so would you mind sharing why? I want to protect little bean as much as possible, but I just worry something will go horribly wrong and I will be to blame.0
