Just jumping in for a moment (I'm only 5+5 at the moment!) but I had to comment on the baby baths. Mom has told me many times that I never got a bath until I could sit up since I was essentially cleaned at every nappy change anyway, and once I started getting them, it was in our stainless steel kitchen sink! :rotfl: Easier on her back because she didn't need to bend down to reach me. I didn't get a bath in the tub until I was nearly 5, but I was small for my age (not any more unfortunately!).

:j :j :j :j :j I completely missed your news so I can't tell you how happy I was to see this post Mrs TM - congratulations!!!

Will carry on reading back now, but couldn't help sharing congratulations :T:T:T:T:T

ETA: Went to check the TTC thread and saw Lara's news too :j Hoping for a big intake from the thread in the coming months :j

Hi all - just popping in during a night feed with my nearly 10 week old actual human (where has time gone?!) because I miss you all :)

We got a bath from mothercare and used it about twice before I got a bath chair from asda to go in the big bath and it's a million times easier.

Still at home. Managed about 4 hours sleep.

Contractions happening so I hope they will continue/ increase so we can get this party started (although not for a couple of hours as I don't fancy the rush hour drive to the hospital)!

Porridge for breakfast - hoping the slow release energy will help (along with a couple of paracetmol).

Hoping all us boldies are off the list very soon.
  • So I plan on doing a full day of food shopping while the boy is at nursery, hopefully the vigourous walking will help start contractions...
And it means the Man won't have to do shopping which he hates if the boy makes an appearance over the weekend!

Not convinced this will work though as no signs at ALL :(

I need to start saving so I plan to save £2 a week to start with:beer:

    Good luck TTC40!

I can't believe my due date is this Sunday, seems absolutely crazy! Also nothing happening so I am trying to ignore it so I won't get annoyed/ stressed about it!

Going out for a meal tonight- I bet everyone will stare at me thinking my waters are about to break dramatically at any moment! Looking forward to it though as it might be my last proper night out for a while :)

Had a terrible nights sleep last night :( was having anxiety dreams that baby was going to arrive at 35+3 which was a monday! But that would actually be a sunday. Then that when we got to hospital I sneezed and out popped two babies before a midwife even saw me. We then took them home before anyone saw us but I struggled with breastfeeding and was then back at the hospital running round trying to find neonatal as the baby (only one now?!) wasn't very alert.
Have woken up with a really sore back this morning as well :(

Congratulations to fluffysox & lemonmelon :j:j:j:j

Good luck to TTC & all the other boldies / ladies in early labour :D Am looking forward to more announcements soon :D

I had a midwife appt yesterday - we both got a gold star :T Everything is going really well in there.

I do have to go back on weds for a consultant appt tho as I had a 3rd degree tear last time and it hadn't been on my notes properly - so we need to discuss the birth plan again with the consultant now I think. Hoping everything will be able to proceed as I would like it to though - and its good they are taking care of me.

2 more days at work to go :j I keep sleeping really badly at the minute - so I am looking forward to being able to rest more in the day. I keep being awake for at least an hour or 2 in the night. I remember being the same with DD before she was born - I think its kind of natures way of getting you used to the sleepless nights that are to come :o

Kerri - good work on sneezing the babies out :p Dreams are so weird in pregnancy aren't they?

Cloudy - hope you enjoy your meal. I wonder if you would get it for free if your waters did break ;)

As for the bath discussion - we still have ours from DD, but I wouldn't buy a baby bath or top and tail bowl again if I hadn't still had them. You can put a hand towel down in the normal bath and so its soft enough for a newborn (I think the non slip mats are a bit harsher on newborn skin) and it does the same job of stopping baby slipping. I don't imagine you would want to be bending over the bath in the first few days/weeks and until that time a washing up bowl will be grand :) I didn't use baby seats or anything. I just ran a shallow bath and DD laid on her back or front when she could lift her head up and she loved splashing around in there. Obviously you are always there watching them - but she didn't ever dunk her head under the water.

I have a baby bath and a bath support like this one:

    http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Stripy-Fabric-Bath-Support/566276,default,pd.html

I have used it for the first couple of months with my first and have been using it with our most recent addition.

After a section there is no way I could have bent over the bath to do it! I didn't use it with my second (normal birth) as I found it easier lying him in the big bath with his older brother on a bath sponge I bought found this really useful, because it is sponge it stops slippy babies from wriggling down so you can grab shampoo and wash baby's hair without having to do it one handed.
