afternoon all :) ooo lots more approaching due date now, exciting! we need a few more babies! (but not too soon please im moving up the list far too fast!)
had a nice-ish day yesterday for my birthday, baby decided to let me have my brthday to myself. however a bit disappointed in that i gave DH an almighty row for a rather inappropriate friendship with a woman he runs with, and a bit more disappointed that i didnt get a single card or present for my birthday, the most i got was a 2 minute phone call from my mum. trying to keep a brave face on it but feeling a bit down overall. just need to focus on the baby i havent got the energy for anything else.
sorry guys please ignore me! im sure everything will work out like its supposed to!

I've been thinking about maternity leave and as I'm due 10th Feb I was thinking of starting ML from 3rd Feb but taking 2 weeks holiday before so actually leaving work on the 18th January. Does this sound OK? I work in an office a 7 minute drive from home so I don't have to be overly worried about being active or commuting long distances. I just don't know when I'll be desperate to stop work and put my feet up since this is my first I have no idea how I'll feel at any particular point!

KScarlet- the organisation is definitely from my OH rather than me! He's so excited, it feels like every day he's building something or buying something or moving furniture around so we've got more room in our little flat for the baby. :) It's good though as I reckon we'll be all sorted by Christmas so when I am finding it more difficult/tiring to do things I don't have to worry because it's all done! :o

I think that sounds about right with maternity leave, I worked up until 38 weeks last time but found it exhausting and I was getting ratty with everyone LOL! This time I am also finishing at 38 weeks but taking 2 weeks holiday prior to that so finishing at 36 weeks. I will probably go 2 weeks overdue again but I am sure I will keep busy (tonnes of baby things to sort, books to read and rooms to organise!) x

Thats so lovely your OH is so excited :) mine was like that last time but I think as he works away now he is finding it hard to feel part of it. I am having to do most baby shopping myself/ making decisions so I keep sending him photos/ texts saying what I've got/ etc. He did go a bit mad in the nursery a couple of weeks ago moving loads into the loft and helping with the decoration. Still a long way to go though! I've also just realised I haven't got a newborn snowsuit/ pramsuit for baby to come home in (guessing due end of November she will need it!) so I might ask him to choose something while he is away x

  • Hugs Trina - I would be disappointed if I didn't receive cards and presents on my birthday too! There's no excuse; it's the same date every year! Hope you manage to sort out the hubby issue; it's not good to be stressed and I imagine that would be stressful.

Good luck to the top 5 - all due or overdue, plus brunettegirl. I really hope your gorgeous little people bless you with their presence very, very soon.

Birdie - I finished at 37wks but have taken 3wks annual leave first. My maternity leave actually starts the day after I'm due. I had wanted to work until 38wks (which I physically could have still done) and wanted to save a weeks' leave to tag on the end but I work for a county council and heard there may be changes to maternity policy during the year I am off. Didn't want to have to fight for that extra week a/l if they changed the policy so decided to take it first. With dd2, I knew I wouldn't be going back to work so took maternity leave from 32weeks.

Birdie, vitamin c helps you absorb iron, so I'd recommend either including that in your supplement or taking your iron supplement with pure orange juice/similar

To the ladies who've had the whooping cough jab : was it a jab they had to make up freshly there and then, or like the flu jab that you're only there 30 seconds for?

The reason I'm asking is because I booked in to have them and the receptionist wouldn't listen when I told her I wanted them given on separate dates, because I know my immune system won't tolerate both at the same time, so I just took the appointment she gave me and then booked another later. The first appointment is tomorrow, and I want my flu jab first, but the second receptionist seemed to think the first appointment was maybe booked for a longer slot (15 mins instead of 3) to account for mixing up the whooping cough jab...? Anyone got any insight?

MiniZee is definitely growing again - even with wake ups, I slept for about 10 hrs last night, which has been unusual & badly needed! Don't really feel like I've woken up properly since I got up though, so am back in bed for a rest/potential nap. :o

Getting the cot put up has made me really want to crack on and get the rest of the nursery furniture sorted now, but my energy levels are having none of it. Especially with all the (medical) appointments I have in the next 2 days.

I think, from what my parents said on the weekend, that my folks will be paying for the wardrobe, drawers and Moses basket though, which is brill :) They asked us what we'd most like for them to get, and I said I hadn't really thought about it because we'd just assumed we'd be paying for everything, and that anything else would be a bonus... :) That seemed to be the way they were leaning though so I guess we'll work it out one way or another. When we were arranging the wedding, me and DH had the same approach, and they ended up giving us cheques/bank transfers to cover certain things after we'd been telling the apt what we'd booked/arranged/bought - so maybe that's how it'll work again...?

BigZ, as far as i remember the whooping cough vaccine was just drawn out of a vial (pre-made up), i could be wrong but either way i was only in there for about 2 minutes!

Birdie - I finish at 36w but have enough holiday to take the whole of December off and start mat leave on my due date of 1st Jan. I might end up losing holiday if she comes early, but that's ok.

29w and I am sooo tired, still 10 weeks to go and I can only see it getting more tiring. Thank goodness just over a month left of work.

I was in and out within about two minutes for both whooping cough and flu jab (had them about a week apart because I didn't want them both on same day). I certainly wasn't in any longer for the whooping cough one so dont know what thats all about!

    Just a quick one.
Whooping cough was quick but the flu jab I'd barely sat down when she jabbed me and sent me on my way. I think they made me sit for 5 mins after whooping cough to check all ok.
To update I've been getting pains since 1pm. Bit irregular (mostly about 5/6 minutes) and only lasting about 30 secs but they are pretty strong. Anyway looks like things are getting going so thought I'd share. Early days so might stop yet but I don't think it will.;)
