Morning all.
Had fortnight of leave already and finally feel ready- apart from still waiting on pram from Mothercare which wasn't delivered yesterday.
Been having Braxton hicks with increasing regularity over last week which apparently is a good thing as means Cervix is weakening so real labour should progress quicker?!
Now spending time horribly addicted to candy crush and words with friends.
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Abi, I have the same cotbed as you. Do you know where we can get spare screws from as I'm missing one? Nursery looks lush by the way

I think I'll have to ask for one after another disastrous attempt at sleepthrobbing pain in my hip and turning into my right side too uncomfortable with the way baby is lying. Was so desperate I tried paracetamol and tennis at 3am but did nothing!
Oh well, due date today, maybe something magic will happen after all the pineapples this weekend! Happy due date to you too fluffysox!
Tennis at 3am- - I was already amazed when you said you'd been on a 5 mile walk lol.
My sleep has been very disturbed too. Hips sore, pillow between knees helps but only so much. Baby was bouncing til 2am. And was having major tightenings too. Aches and pains in back and tum too but did not progress into contractions. And all quiet now.
Mum has had DS past two nights as he has been waking several times in the night crying for the past few week or so and therefore I was truly exhausted. Took him to Docs again yesterday (3rd time) as he keeps touching his ears. Anyway Doc says nothing wrong with him. He woke in night and was sick on my mum's bed poor baby. Main reason I've just bobbed back though was because I was thinking when I was pregnant and preparing for baby I remember wondering and seeing others wonder how many babygros to buy as well as bedding. In the last few days we have changed baby on average 4 times a day due to sick or wee and poo getting on him during a change (my baby kicks like mad when his nappy gets changed and keeping his legs poo free is hard! !) Bedding wise he is still in moses basket but the bottom sheet is usually changed once every 2 days again due to sick or leaky nappies (using pampers). Blanket tends to last a couple of days I only change it for my own need to do it rather than being dirty. So, washing once a week we've needed 28 vests and babygros however, that has been no problem I've had so much bought I'm struggling to close his drawers!! May or may not help first time mums but it's something I just couldn't work out when I was pregnant!0

Has anyone else noticed clothing sizes don't make any sense? I know I haven't been clothes shopping in over a year, but I bought some clothes in sizes I thought would fit me and the tops were far too baggy under the arm. I'm really disappointed as I was looking forward to showing OH my new clothes when he got home
Have had to go and order the next size down, even with a bump!!! Have opted for leggings that fit under bump though, nice and comfy from now on in I think, no more stiff jeans
Last hypnobirthing last night, she taught us not to "push" but to take a short sharp inhale and then breathe down in a J shape keeping your "openings" open and not tensing them. She also told us for crowning to do horse lips, you know how they bray? This is meant to give a much more controlled crowning and ensures everything down below is kept loose as you can't tense up down there is your jaw is loose.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

If nappies leaking are a big issue it might be worth trying different brands - we've never had problems but I've known a lot of people say they've found a particular make is a better fit for their baby and that other brands leak.
We could easily have managed with 6 with DS, we changed him morning and night but didn't need to. Muslin cloths caught most of the milk sick and nappies leaking poo only happened once or twice in the whole first year. Every baby is different tho, my friend's babies apparently had leaks a plenty. Re: nappy changing, vest and babygrow- pull right up behind their back before you start. And hold ankles with one hand while the other does the nappy change. Have everything ready, including wipes pulled out the packet and nappy and nappy bag open so its easy to do one handed.
And try another brand of nappies, the fit does vary.2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

He is really little so I think the nappy fit is due to his tiny body. I bought tons of pampers in pregnancy which in hindsight wasn't a good idea as I now need to get through them all! Quite probably I'm a crap nappy changer.. very weak at moment! We'll see if i improve but Definitely no way 6 baby gros would last us. He has bibs backed with plastic for feeds plus we have muslins and still gets gip on himself or milk runs down his chin! I do only wash clothing once a week though, could live with less if I washed more often but I find 4 changes a day about average. One day I changed him 7 times but I was in hospital without everything I needed .. including bibs as I hadn't anticipated such a stay! My mum luckily suggested I account for 4-5 changes a day. I scoffed but she was so right but then that was 30 years ago since she had us and nappies probs weren't as good!0 -
Getting increasingly pished off. I think I may have figured why sleeping is excrutiatingly painful and I waddle like a duck at 26 weeks. Anyone else had dealings with PSD? I've got 24 week midwife app tomorrow (all mine have run behind) so need to take it up with her then. I only hope she doesnt do what she's done any other time we've asked questions and refer us to a website! What goes on at that appointent btw? I've got GTT late October so think they will do bloods then when taking bloods? What else do they do at the 24 week appointment anyone?Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. hi jemb
You are due the day before me...
I have been dianosed with SPD, not sure whether PSD is similar I would say for me I went ot see my GP and they referred me to a physio. They did a workshop for pre natal back care then we have appointments after. At the group thing we all had the opportunity to buy back supports, I had already brought myself one but I brought another couple of tubigrip ones for £2 which I wear to sleep in.
24 week appt was the same as usual, check water/BP I asked loads of questions surrounding my birth (although this is my second and I had a fairly traumatic 1st labour) and she booked me in for 28 weeks and blood tests that was it really.0 -
Babybrian as well by the looks of things, i meant spd not psd. It's crept up the last week and is now really painful. I figure if I dont get the answers tomorrow from the Midwife I'll try the Drs. Did you find that the back supports helped?Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140

Hi ladies, have been lurking here for a good few weeks and wondered if I could be added to the lists? I'm 25 weeks today, due date 28th Jan 2014.
Am at the point where we're starting to make real preparations, get organised and buy things after months of talking about it all. This is our first baby and it feels scarey as well as wonderful!
Just wondered if any of the experienced mums on the board had advice. We're trying to decide between cot-bed and dropside-cot (it seems the cot-beds don't have dropsides). Benefits of the cot bed - bigger, lasts longer, more MSE. Benefits of the cot - drop sides to help with lifting and smaller to fit in our box room. We'll have a second-hand moses basket for the first few months anyway. Does anyone have strong views on drop-side cots against non-drop-side?!
