She told me I need to be active and go out for long walks instead of sitting around the house. I told her no as walking is quite difficult and painful but apparently this is not normal and I'm just moaning and lazy.
I'm finding walking quite painful due to lots of pressure, i get stabbing pains in my downstairs region with every step, my stomach feels like its going to drop off and I also have some problems with my feet at the minute. I am pretty certain this is all normal at this stage of pregnancy, I know it has been a very long time since she was pregnant herself but surely you never forget how difficult the end is?0 -

ETA We also use Junior Oilatum which we were prescribed once DD1 developed eczema.0 -

Talking of babies being born on birthdays this may freak a few people out but I think the odds are fairly remarkable.
My Dad was born on his mums birthday 12th Dec
My cousin was born on my mums birthay 20th October
Then my brother and my sister and I were all born on the 12th of a month Feb, March, and October
THEN
My DS was born on my brothers 30th
My Niece was born on her mums birthday
My other Niece was born on my 30th birthday
(So all born on 12th of the month, Oct, Feb and March)
I am not sure of the collective odds of this but I think this is a bit spooky, I am due on a date which isnt really surrounded by any important dates but my sister is pregnant again and due on the 25th May which will be a year to the date my dad suddenly passed away.

Ergh, I am back from my flu jab. The injection itself was fine, but I did not like the experience in the slightest! Just as I was about to tell her about my previous reaction to the whooping cough injection (five seconds after entering the room) the needle was already pressed against my arm! I didn't even get to sit down before being shooed out. Maybe I am being silly, I know lots of people need their jabs, but I didn't like it at all (and it's never happened like that before when I've had one, and that was before the bump!).
Anyway, thank you for all the birthday themed replies. My birthday is on 3rd November, but I highly doubt I will be 2 weeks early given that last time I was 10 days late. I would quite like a Halloween party for my birthday (I normally try n have one) but DH is not so keen given that its quite close to due date. I'm secretly going ahead with preliminary planning for it tho - I'm sure it will be fine :rotfl: It will be a good think and take my mind off everything
Definitely go ahead with the planning abisSince I've been a bit older (e.g. any older than 14), I've never really done anything for my birthday, I really don't like the attention! I would prefer not to have baby arrive on my birthday for baby's sake really. I want them to have their own special day. Saying that, it felt really special when the midwife told me - right at the beginning of the pregnancy - that baby was due only one day after when I was due as a baby. I like my birthday being close to my mum's birthday and it would be nice to share that with baby too.
Toothfairy4 wrote: »onetreehillgirl, it's my dog's birthday today if that counts? Haha we were joking this morning if baby comes today he would not be impressed at having to share his birthday as well as his house
It most definitely counts Toothfairy!my birthday is the 20th of this month, FIL is 9th November, and a friends birthday is 1st November, so ive got 2 weeks before, on DD and a week ish after....so we'll see when baby puts in an appearance!
Wow Trina, you have a much wider possible range than I do - good luck.Talking of babies being born on birthdays this may freak a few people out but I think the odds are fairly remarkable.

Gosh VICSH and I thought mine was an interesting one! My brother shares his birthday with my dad's mother, but that's about it I think. I suppose any day turns into a special day as soon as the LOs are born ...Never put tables and chairs in the same room.
If they congregate together for any length of time, they will inevitably hatch plots against you and your pets.

Wow Abi what a transformation! It looks lovely!
Congratulations maire1!!
Good luck COMP!
Re. baby products, I use Simple myself as I have sensitive skin, so I've bought Simple baby wash. Not organic but one of the only products that doesn't make me itch. Been given some Johnsons by a friend but I've only ever heard bad things about all the chemicals in it.
For facial cleansing I have discovered Ponds cold cream - a lovely little old lady product, which I am now in love with! And for a moisturiser I like Boots vitamin E range and Lush dream cream.
AFM, midwife told me today that baby's head is 'engaging' so I suppose things are progressing. Booked a sweep for when I'm 40+4 but hoping things happen naturally before then!
Was surprised not to be offered a 40 week appointment.
Been doing lots of walking which I feel is helping a lot. Sorry to hear many of you are in such pain with SPDI feel very lucky that I can still go for long walks. My hips do ache afterwards though.

Hi folks!
abis I'm jealous of your nursery!! It looks lovely... managed to get my room cleaned out and carpetted, but not decorated - got a wall built (was previously just an odd space in the house) but have no doors... was empty (for the carpets) and is now full of anything baby related... in no order at all.
I'm 38+3 and not due to finish work for another 4 days... I can finish the nursery off at the weekend though, right?!
I guess he'll be in our room for a bit so won't be in his nursery until after Christmas maybe... but it would be nice to have it all done in advance - I have a feeling I might be a little occupied once he makes his arrival!
So I had my 38 week appointment today... Blood pressure done, fine... Pee in a pot test came back with a trace of protein (found by the student midwife) but the other midwife didn't express any signs of taking this information in or writing it down anywhere....... so guessing it is something not to be concerned about...??
Midwife then asked if I was all sorted for the birth. To which I reminded her that I'd asked for this to be a double because noone had mentioned a birth plan, and I thought it might be a good time to talk about it (before the actual birth). She said she was surprised it hadn't been covered in my antenatal classes.
I know I've been bad at going (I went to one) but I thought the midwife was a more likely advocate for birth plan discussions than in the middle of an antenatal class....?
Anyway, we half discussed options in a very half-hearted way and the midwife wasn't keen on discussing things like 'shows' etc. because she seemed embarrassed about them. The student midwife that was present was lovely though, discussed everything openly and just like I would have expected - didn't miss out the details, told me to book the water birth suite even if I wasn't sure because it was a nicer bed ... and at least if I wasn't sure I wanted it I wouldn't be 'gutted' if it wasn't available.
Not sure how I'd feel if I ended up in it and someone that actually was desperate for a water birth couldn't use the room though.
Anyhoo, at the end of it she announced that this was the last they'd see of me. But a lady called Tracy would be round to my house on my due date to do my first sweep.... Then after that they'd do two more before inducing me at 12 days over.
I wasn't aware the sweep was something that automatically happened on your due date... is that normal? I thought it was something that happened if you went/were highly likely to go over.. Is it also normal to happen at your house? (Do I need to prepare anything..?!)
I haven't been best impressed with my ad hoc mid wife sessions I must admit... although the student midwife was very nice today, she'll make a pregnant lady happier when she graduates.
Sorry about the long post, just came away from my 'last' appointment feeling like I've just wandered into the unknown...0 -
Evening all.
Popping on to highly rate the tommee tippee prep machine. Saw that Tiny raved about it as well.
It's brilliant, we got ours today and for someone having had a c section it's put my mind at ease for next week when my husband goes back to work.
Not that preparing bottles is difficult without the machine, but it just takes away the stress of wondering if the temperature is right and also the guilt on having my little girl cry whilst the bottle is cooling down. Only a few times have we managed to have a bottle ready just before she wakes up, but of course that is just luck.
Saw my midwife again today, Scarlett has put on 2oz in 8 days. I was prepared for a drop in weight, which she probably has had and then caught up again as my midwife did say normally she would of visited on day 5 to weigh her, but she wasn't working.
Scarlett also has a blocked tear dtuc, not nice to see, but just have to bathe it and interestingly use breast milk if I can as its full of antibodies so will make it heal quicker.
Time is flying by, cannot believe my little girl is 8 days old. I am making sure I take photos every day so don't miss out on anything.
Hope everyone is well.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160
