Abi, I have the same cotbed as you. Do you know where we can get spare screws from as I'm missing one? Nursery looks lush by the way
x
Not at the moment - but I think we need 2 more screws so when I find some I will let you know! :rotfl:Wow Abis the nursery looks great! Currently our nursery looks very similar to the first pic of yours so I feel reassured that it can be turned into something beautiful
Its taken a lot of work, but definitely worth it. Had a few tears of happiness last night when it was all finished.
The main thing that's taken the time has been the organising and selling of all the [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] treasureI hate listing things for sale, and I've always had a spare room to dump things in that I would 'get round to doing at some point' and now my hoarding room is no more :rotfl: I've made around £400-500 in the process as well - so its been a good experience on the whole. I cleared it in 4 separate stages and took pics at each stage to encourage me to keep going.
I still have a few more things to photograph and list for sale - so I'm not finished yet - but definitely on the right path now!! DH would have quite happily binned it all, but I am pleased that I have made some money out of it, and hopefully will make a bit more by the time everything is listed/sold.
The painting went really well - well DH did it so it was easy for me  But we were keeping the wallpaper, carpet etc - so it only needed a couple of coats of paint and then the boarder doing once the room was cleared. I spent Saturday in the loft sorting through all DDs old nursery bedding and organising all her old clothes in to newborn / 0-3 / 3-6 etc etc. And then yesterday I did all the washing in non-bio and all the ironing. So the house smells gorgeous now as well
Am feeling soooooo much more organised now, it is a relief to be honest. I think I have everything bought now from my list (apart from a yellow blind - need to keep looking for one of them), just waiting on a few deliveries. Might even get my hospital bag packed and then I will be all set :j:j

Abi the room looks gorgeous
it's really given me hope as our nursery isn't far off the first photo! So much stuff has already come out of it got a car load to take to charity shop, few bits on eBay atm and a pile of things already sold. I love how everything matches in your nursery
you are about a week ahead of me, I think I need to get cracking! Thanks for sharing x

Abi do you mind me asking where you sold the items? I have furniture to rehome as well as lots of stuff. I was thinking Gumtree for the furniture and ebay/gumtree for the stuff.
I have reconciled that I have to part with my dining table and chairs however I am still reluctant to let my much loved piano go. I think a baby really needs a large musical instrument in their room :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
I keep checking back and having a look at the list, and scarily, I have jumped to #16!
Anyway, looking at the list caused me to wonder: is anyone else due to give birth on, or very close to, their own birthday?
I only ask because looking at the list, the two ladies after me are due on mine and my mum's birthday respectively (shows how close it is to my birthday!) and it got me thinking if it was like this for anyone else?- onetreehillgrrl - 14th November 2013 ?

If they congregate together for any length of time, they will inevitably hatch plots against you and your pets.

Afternoon Ladies,
Abis your nursery looks lovely, especially in comparison to the before picture!
on talk of sensitive skin products, the body shop have a range but i can't remember the name, so not a useful tip!
Ordered our nursery furniture yesterday, splashed out to get a matching set and got this http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Darlington-3-piece-Nursery-Furniture-Bundle---Antique/psX2178,default,pd.html
went in store to make sure we got it at £449 and put it on their babyplan - it'll be delivered at the end of December and if we find that it's been reduced in the meantime we can get the price matchedyou could order stuff on that plan and pay it off bit by bit but we had the money so paid up front. also bought some vests and sleepsuits, as well as one of their bath sets, so a good shopping trip all in all
DH was very cute and getting excited at the clothes, think he would have bought the whole store if i let him lol
we've just had a consultation meeting about the redundancies, so we're walking back to our office with all my colleagues, and guess who falls over? so embarassing. it was one of those trip-try to right yourself-fall falls, luckily landed on my side so no impact on baby but boy did it scared the sh*t out of everyone lolLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

I sold most things on the local facebook for sale sites. I've tried to group things in to bundles to get rid of as much as possible and raise more money with each thing - but whilst still offering a bargain to whoever is buying. So for example, I reduced my shoe collection considerably and I sold bundles of 5 pairs for £10. I don't think you will get much more than £2-3 for a second hand pair, and sometimes people really love 1 or 2 pairs and end up buying all 5. I, erm, had possibly around 70-80 to sell :o so listing individually and taking £2 here and £2 there would have been a major PITA. I still have some left for sale - but I 'bump' them on the sale page every couple of days in the hope that someone else might see them and snag a bargain. Once I had photographed and listed things, they go in the garage out the way. I daren't put anything in there that's not listed for sale tho as I will never get round to it if I start doing that.... I can always give things to charity of course if I do run out of room or patience with it all - but to me its been worth trying to recoup some of the money and its meant that so far all of the baby equipment we have bought has been out of sale proceeds so I am very proud :money:
I did sell some things on ebay which were maybe a little more 'niche' or needed a larger audience. I don't like the fees on ebay, nor the posting lark either. I think I have maybe sold 10 things on ebay but made £180 from the things I did sell on there. I haven't ever used gumtree before so not really sure how that works.
I do find the facebook sites fab as people just come and collect or I sometimes deliver if its just in town.Abi the room looks gorgeousit's really given me hope as our nursery isn't far off the first photo! Thank you - its virtually identical to when DD was in there as a baby. I kept all my things, and managed to source the same border unopened on ebay a little while ago. I loved the theme, and still doAnd yellow is my favourite colour of course :j I do feel a lot better now its all ready, even tho baby will probably be in with us for the first few weeks. I think its just a psychological thing - I feel a lot more prepared now and its starting to feel 'real'. Seems a daft thing to say / feel but sometimes being pregnant has seemed quite surreal so far.

My birthday is on 3rd November, but I highly doubt I will be 2 weeks early given that last time I was 10 days late. I would quite like a Halloween party for my birthday (I normally try n have one) but DH is not so keen given that its quite close to due date. I'm secretly going ahead with preliminary planning for it tho - I'm sure it will be fine :rotfl: It will be a good think and take my mind off everything

Abi thanks for that! I am not on Facebook but I have popped things on Gumtree before so I think I will go down that route with a few other bits on freecycle. even if I only make a few pennies it will be worth it.
We already had paint for our dining room before I found out I was pregnant and since it is going to be the nursery we are just going to use that paint. It is mellow sage so a fairly neutral green which will be fine for our little boy. I am keen to get the room done so that I have somewhere other than me bedroom to store the mountain of baby things we seem to now own!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Abi your nursery looks lovely
we have a moses basket for downstairs during the day (£20 baby sale bargain with £10 new mattress!) and a crib in our room for nightime. Haven't got a cot yet but can sort that out once baby is here.
onetreehillgirl, it's my dog's birthday today if that counts? Haha we were joking this morning if baby comes today he would not be impressed at having to share his birthday as well as his house
Been doing some baking today, made some red velvet cupcakes and have the fruit soaking in brandy so i can bake the christmas cake tomorrow. It smells sooo Christmassy! Yum!
