I think my last bloods were at 28 weeks to check iron levels? Not 100% on that though!

I have an appointment on Thursday at 40 weeks, my midwife hasn't mentioned anything about sweeps at all so not sure what happens after then...

Thank you - its virtually identical to when DD was in there as a baby. I kept all my things, and managed to source the same border unopened on ebay a little while ago. I loved the theme, and still do :D And yellow is my favourite colour of course :j I do feel a lot better now its all ready, even tho baby will probably be in with us for the first few weeks. I think its just a psychological thing - I feel a lot more prepared now and its starting to feel 'real'. Seems a daft thing to say / feel but sometimes being pregnant has seemed quite surreal so far. :o

Its a lovely theme :) feel a bit bad my son didn't have his 'nursery' decorated or a theme or anything really. Well until he was about 10 months when we moved when I literally got some curtains and a lamp shade that 'kind of' went together LOL! His room has a theme now (lorries and diggers!!) but I think its made me more determined to have a nice room for the baby. Baby will also be in with us for a few weeks so even though I don't need to decorate the room/ put curtains up/ put bedding in cot I probably will just because I want to be prepared (and make it look pretty :P) x

I am starting to think I need to get on with things, potentially before I finish work. I have been ill for a couple of weeks and everything I have planned has gone completely out of the window. Its making me feel like I want to get my bag packed/ etc just so its ready so if I am ill/ etc everything is ready. I have written out a long list of everything that needs washing/ sewing/ checked over etc so it will keep me busy!

Vic I am not down to have bloods taken at 34 weeks, just urine sample, BP and measurements. I have got a hospital appt just before so my MW has told me to cancel my appt with her if they do all of that in hospital (which I am certain they will!) I think I had bloods at 28w to check iron levels. MW appts tend to be fortnightly here until due date, after that who knows! x

Thanks Tiny and Continual for your reviews of the Perfect prep, I am sure ours will be very useful. I used to hate waiting 30mins after boiling kettle, then 9 times out of 10 I would forget to even make the feed then have to go through the process again. I got a little egg timer to help remind me which used to choose if it was going to go off or not, felt like I was losing the plot a little!! Anything that makes life easier :) Hope you are both enjoying your babies :) xx

I third the Tommee Tippee Prep machine for those who are bottle feeding. I've been so poorly post birth and decided to splash out on it to make my life easier. So glad I did. Takes two mins to make a fresh bottle and when in finally make it out of the house I'll be using cartons. Main reason I've just bobbed back though was because I was thinking when I was pregnant and preparing for baby I remember wondering and seeing others wonder how many babygros to buy as well as bedding. In the last few days we have changed baby on average 4 times a day due to sick or wee and poo getting on him during a change (my baby kicks like mad when his nappy gets changed and keeping his legs poo free is hard! !) Bedding wise he is still in moses basket but the bottom sheet is usually changed once every 2 days again due to sick or leaky nappies (using pampers). Blanket tends to last a couple of days I only change it for my own need to do it rather than being dirty. So, washing once a week we've needed 28 vests and babygros however, that has been no problem I've had so much bought I'm struggling to close his drawers!! May or may not help first time mums but it's something I just couldn't work out when I was pregnant!

I think I'll have to ask for one after another disastrous attempt at sleep :( throbbing pain in my hip and turning into my right side too uncomfortable with the way baby is lying. Was so desperate I tried paracetamol and tennis at 3am but did nothing!

Oh well, due date today, maybe something magic will happen after all the pineapples this weekend! Happy due date to you too fluffysox!

Haha not tennis, rennie! Though tennis might have been more effective at getting the baby out!

:rotfl::rotfl:Had visions of a heavily pregnant woman playing tennis in the middle of the night.
Sorry you had a rubbish nights sleep :( I did too. OH works night and whenever he comes in on the morning and sees me he thinks I haven't slept because of DS. Nope he slept for 12 hours straight (lucky thing!), he cant seem to understand why being pregnant would stop me from sleeping.

    37 weeks today!

Hi all. Congratulations to the new mommys!!

Had a check up at the midwifery unit I'm planning on using last week, all the usual midwife checks and bloods and have now been given the go ahead to go there :) Such a relief, it's a lovely place and the local hospital is just up the road incase.

Keep having little meltdowns :( last night I couldn't find the scissors so burst into tears, it's amazing how little it takes to throw you over the edge.

Only 8 days left at work though :) getting excited to finish now

  • Morning all! still here... next midwife appointment is Thursday (due date) and midwife has already said she'll do a sweep, although I've been having contractions since early Thursday last week and had a show. Not sure if that influenced her decision a little, or if due date sweeps are routine around here... Been doing loads of walking around during the day to try andmove things along but looks like bean is being stubborn. probably waiting for the football . tonight!

Not much to report here other than bump is still very active.

A week to go until due date. It was OH's bd yesterday & I would have liked baby to make an appearance then (but think he was glad it didn't). When I thought I was having an early c section I had bought him a Daddy bd card. Didn't give it to him - doubt whether I will find it by next year so may as well throw it away now!

Scan & consultant tomorrow. At the last appt the consultant said I would just be left for labour to start naturally so we'll have to see if they are sticking to that.

Thanks for the feedback on the Perfect Prep, if I end up FF I will be buying one (& e baying the breast pump). It's a balance about what you buy in 'just in case' & what you just wait to see what you 'need'.

Hugs to everyone in pain. My lack of sleep is just due to can't get comfy & need to wee a lot so I should stop moaning.

Thank you chick. Frgot to ask what it was for! How many more midwife appointments should I have? X
My bloods were taken for the last time at 36 week appt. (Apart from another- my third- GTT test last week which was normal again) From 36 weeks appts are usually fortnightly but your midwife may see you weekly at the end. With my first pregnancy the 41 week appt a sweep would be offered if you wanted it and during that appt the midwife would book you in for induction. My 40 week appt (I was 40+2), I was having contractions since that morning, so I still went for reassurance but no further appts made.

No need to feel guilty- baby will not notice a theme. Don't beat yourself up. It helps you to feel prepared when their clothes are sorted and their little bed is made up but I'm planning on having baby in our room til they are 6 months old and then he will share with his brother. His wardrobe is full of clothes, moses basket set up. Cotbed assembled as DS still using it. Their room has a variety of themes, Cars bedding on single beds, Winnie the Pooh pictures up and Winnie the Pooh rug and cot bedding. Grown up curtains but thry're good ones and cost me a lot so I can't bring myself to get rid. I'm not worried if not everything matches, its colourful and DS likes it. His old room which is now a computer room still has Thomas curtains up as they're too small for the big room.
