Oh yes sleeping bags are fab! I must check if we've still got some! I've also got a couple of swaddling blankets x

We've just got sleeping bags for her plus a blanket my sister made to go in the pushchair. I think I'd be too worried about her kicking them off and getting cold otherwise.

I've woken up with pain on the side of both hips, made it really sore walking down the stairs this morning :(

I'm so tired. Was awake 4am yesterday morning with bad cramps and contractions but they fizzled out after a couple of hours. Awake half of last night with SPD and ligament pain. Shattered.com. Need to get dd2 off to school and will try and go back to sleep after. Yaaawwwwwnnn.

Is it 8lb+ that a baby should be before using a sleeping bag? I have 3 sleeping bags, 2 swaddle blankets plus around 8 blankets of varying sizes so think we're sorted on those. Must get a nice bump picture done before he's out and it's too late - only 11 days left if I make it to full term.

Eek not long now Angel! Maybe you should post a bump pic for us to see?! X

Hope both you and Kerri are in less pain :( spd is awful I've really had to cut back with housework since having it x

I think sleeping bags are from 8lbs. I think baby will need one of those plus a blanket it's been so cold lately. I was having lots of tightenings/ contractions last night, must have been BH but they were getting fairly painful! All stopped now thankfully!

Another terrible nights sleep and have woken up with a cold, typical! Think this is going to be a grumpy day :(
  • No, not long at all - can't believe how quickly the months have gone.

Thanks kscarlet , I thought it was 8lb. My bump is actually quite neat this time around, it's like my bump with dd1. Dd2 I was huge and managed to put on 3.5 stone. I've put on 1st 10lb this time although I can honestly say I haven't watched what I have eaten at all. I think thanks to working full time, kids clubs, housework etc to do - I've used my slow cooker a lot as I can throw it on in the morning and it's ready whenever we all are. Plus it's v healthy. Will try and do a bump pic today.

How are you doing? Have you started all the baby stuff? (Washing it all, hospital bags etc) x

A few of my friends who have had babies have never used muslins, my baby had reflux really bad, I was changing him 3 times a day from birth till 6 months because of sick. And washed muslins everyday, and we had. 12!! Luckily we were given a hell of a lot of newborn stuff so I didn't need to wash items everyday. So be prepared, if you have a refluxy baby you will have a lot of changing to do!

We have 36 Muslins! I swear we get through 4 a day with reflux and sick.

Also we have 24 0-3 baby grows, mostly given to us by friends a family and we use them. We can change his outfit three or four times in a morning from reflux/wee. Oddly his nappies don't hold enough urine and he has a slow trickle.

Best thing we bought were sleep sacs, I know he is warm enough overnight and can change him without freezing him. We have found the pureflo to be the best.

I can't believe it's been a month since I had my DS and last posted/read this thread.

Can anyone find the birth stories thread? I can't find it but thought of add my positive induction/forceps tale.

  • Re. Makeup/sensitive skin: I can't remember who was asking about makeup for sensitive skin but I have really dry skin on my face and have to be really careful with makeup. I tend to find thick creamy foundations the best, but use the more premium ranges like lancome, estee lauder etc. Unfortunately the makeup I have relied on for years has been discontinued so I need to find a new range myself :(

Re. Blankets: I've been having a major panic about blankets too. I've mainly got fleecy ones which I got as presents but I read they're not the best as baby can overheat. I've only got 2 cellular blankets which are quite small so I guess I need to buy more. I've also got a swaddle and sleeping bags but know I can't use the bags straight away.

I want baby out now, I don't like the waiting around and the uncertainty of it all. I don't see my midwife now until after my due date when she will start the ball rolling for induction. I've had no signs of impeding labour whatsoever, baby has remained 2/5 engaged for past 3 weeks. I'm getting constant stabbing pains, back ache, belly ache and (tmi) I'm more loose when going the toilet but not lost any plug or anything - I know in reality this can mean nothing but the thought of another 3 weeks like this makes me sad. My nausea seems to have come back with a vengeance too. Plus I'm hardly sleeping at all and any sleep I do get is filled with dreams of going into labour!

Phew, what a headache it is trying to work out maternity pay! I hope some of you ladies may be able to help with some of the practicalities :) I have all the info from my company as to entitlements etc but what I want to know is what money is taken off the Statutory Maternity Pay and if it is paid weekly or monthly through your employer?

I know my pension contributions will be taken off and I need to work out if student loan payments continue from it and any other deductions etc Just worried I will end up with far less per month than I thought
