I don't know whether to ring the midwife or not. I'm not getting as many kicks (or as powerful) since yesterday morning. I've used the Doppler and his heartbeat is nice and strong, but just not moving as much. Midwife said its a myth that the movements get less and less as you get closer you just don't get as big a movements as you used to.

But knowing my luck, I'll ring her, she'll come visit and he'll go mental. I suppose I could send her a text and see what she says.

I could have written this; trying big breakfast with tea and maybe bath. Had best nights sleep in ages so maybe I didn't have the usual volley of kicks and punches? Midewife on Monday said baby had dropped a couple of inches, even though not my first, so hopefully that is why I've noticed a difference?

Oh my just read about the beaker....err...nothing like that in our house.

Spoke to OH about the spa weekend, I think Lake District (4hrs) should be more doable, I am only small and following the same bump growth as both my Mum and sister so not expecting to be huge. We can stop happily on the way at several places for walks to stretch leggies and it's mostly motorway :) This is where we're thinking: http://www.armathwaite-hall.com/offer14.php OH said "don't I get a massage" hahaha, think he has to book one on top :)

I think that sounds great Kerri. I'm 37+4 and wouldn't want to travel 8hrs whereas I could travel 4hrs. I started annual leave this wk and spent tues at a spa with my mom getting a manicure, pedicure, facial and a massage and it was lovely. Felt sorry for masseuse trying to massage bump whilst he was sticking limbs out at her lol. Very relaxing and I slept even better than normal that night. Was told not to swim on my back though (my fave) as it encourages baby to be back to back.

Mincepiemonster - we love them too! We are on our 6th pack of 12 mince pies since our Asda started selling them almost a month ago.

COMP - Good luck, fingers crossed!

Neneromanova - call them, always best to be safe than sorry. I'm sure all is ok but it won't hurt to get baby checked out.

Just called them. Said come in for monitoring at 11. Little monkey started doing little kicks on the way to school though, but she still said come in and get checked out just to be sure. Seems so bad that I feel bad for inconveniencing everyone. DH has to come home from work, mum has to come over and wait to pick DD2 up from nursery. I just want to cry. Lol. Stupid hormones :rotfl:

Hmm OH has decided we're to travel all the way to Scotland for a spa break when I'm on maternity leave sometime in December when baby is imminent....it's an absolutely lovely idea, but I have a horrid feeling he is thinking of driving all the way up there. Anyone that's 35w+ been on a long car journey recently? I have a very neat bump for 28w and I don't think it's going to grow huge. Would really love to go for the spa break, it's in a castle, but want some opinions on whether anyone else would? It's a dream holiday and would be a perfect babymoon.
We went away overnight about five hours away when I was 38 weeks with my first but we only decided to go at the last minute on the basis that there were no obvious signs of me going into labour. I would happily plan to be away at 35 weeks as long as there were no obvious reasons not to.

When I went yesterday with a similar thing (I didn't phone, just went to the drop in), she said if any doubt then call - even if that was today i.e. don't ignore it just because I was checked yesterday. That said, my baby is back to dancing/ playing footie so no concerns today from me. She said I should call as they would send me to the hospital for monitoring if necessary. I asked if I should call the hospital triage direct instead & she said that was an option too - so not sure what the point of calling the community triage is in my area!

If the chocolate & iced water hadn't got the baby moving I probably would have called the hospital but actually after I got movement again I wasn't so concerned.

    Call her (please).:)

    38 + 2

I had a similar thing happen at 38 w and was told to drink some iced water and then lie on my left side for an hour. I did get some kicks but still wasn't happy a couple of days later so went in and had a scan and was monitored. They then said to come back the following day for another trace, so they took it really seriously.

The sonographer said baby was fine but waters were slightly lower than they should be so not much room to kick. The next day she started kicking more again - sonographer said she had a full bladder and when she next peed in the womb there'd be more fluid!

I'm sure 99times out of 100 there is nothing wrong but for the 1 in 100 chance I'd get it checked out.

I've done the chocolate, cold drink, lying on my side, bath and still not much.

Yes I watched that, was making me really quite cross! Even just the fact that she wouldn't stay on the machine so her babys heartbeat could be monitored! Yes your right she was obviously scared, but she was being given advice and told her baby was getting distressed yet she still seemed intent on going off outside!

That woman really hacked me off. I just don't understand the mentality of someone who refuses medical advice like that, ok so she was scared of having a section but would you not be more scared of your baby dying? My son had foetal distress and when they told me, I just wanted him out of me asap as I honestly thought there was a chance he might not survive. They couldn't get me into theatre quick enough. I was a bit concerned that if she can't put her child's needs ahead of her own at a time like that, what will she be like as a mother?
  • KScarlet fingers crossed for a much shorter stay this time, I thought most places were better about partners than that. Must've been lucky! The only rule I found odd is that you weren't allowed to carry your LO in the corridor, and had to push them around in the crib and carry them out in their car seat- apparently some sort of health and safety.
That does sound weird - personally I have never and would never carry my child in a carseat as I don't want to do myself an injury. Here they supposedly check you have a carseat (they said they come out with you to the car to check) but they didn't with us - they just let us walk out with DD1 in a sling.
  • AMUS - love the outfit, purely because I had my little one in the same outfit yesterday.:)
