Congratulations to all the recent births

Rebecca Leigh was born at 0040 on 29th September by emergency c section weighing 8lb 5oz

I had an 8 day stay in hospital as Rebecca was slightly jaundice, extremely sleepy & struggled to feed from the boob & i developed an UTI & an infection on the wound, I now rattle when I walk with the amount of antibiotics I'm taking!

    So glad to to home

P.s. how do I post a pic from my iPad?

Congratulations. Glad to hear you're now recovering well. To post a pic you need to upload it to somewhere like photobucket first. X

Lots of babies! Congratulations to all the new mums :D

I have been quite emotional today, even getting tearful at the tiny clothes in the supermarket which is really not like me :o

The work on the house is going well and with every day I feel more and more prepared. There is still a long way to go until the house is ready however we are getting there bit by bit.

  • Hi all, updating you all from my hospital bed.

My little girl was born at 2.10am today weighing 6lb 8oz (so yes wayyyyy off from my midwifes prediction of 9lb 6oz when I asked her on Thurs)

I was induced at 1pm yesterday with a pessary and by 6.30pm was having period type cramping, they got worse and i had some pain killers so i could sleep a bit but it didn't ease them at all. I was pretty uncomfortable, having to rock from side/side, hubby had to go home as i was on the induction ward.

Fast forward to 12.45am and my 2nd monitoring of baby = not a happy baby so was told to ring my husband as was going to the labour suite. They broke my waters as was 2cm dilated but she really didnt like that so only option was a c section.

If some of you remember i got all silly about this ages ago thinking i wanted to ask for a c section....

So never got to use my tens machine that i hired either. The only possible explanation for baby being uphappy was the whole being induced and me over contracting, but I'll never know for sure.

Not sure when I can go home, just a check on me all the time game to see how I am recovering.

    Congratulations Nessie and Continual! Xx

BabaMoose your post made me laugh! X

Fluffy that towel looks really useful, I've never seen one like that before! X

I'm sorry I've forgotten who said about feeling bad asking their DH to do everything, I feel the same! Poor guys been lifting heavy boxes/ gardening/ moving furniture and even had to put up baby's wall stickers as I couldn't reach them all and looked far too dangerous up a step ladder. Baby's room is in progress!! I am so happy to have it started. Lots to do though!

Congrats to all the other new mums.. theres loads of us! !. I've finally arrived home from hospital with a bag full of medication and oh has to inject my thigh for seven days. .lucky him! I'm sore, overwhelmed and shattered but I'm in my own bed tonight with an oh snoring next to me and a baby grunting and panting his head off on his sleep. I couldn't feel happier. Thankyou girls for all your support. .hope to see you on the newborn thread and good luck for all your births. It's so surreal when the day finally comes! Continual and nessie... wishing you speedy recoveries. .I know the feeling on the obs. They were telling me to rest and checking me every half an hour. Wish I hadn't needed a section. . Finding the pain of that a bit of a nuisance x
  • Continualdiamond & Nessie - wow congratulations on your gorgeous babies! So looking forward to pics - it's been ages since we've seen a cute baby pic. X

Congrats again Bangton - can't believe we're all starting to have our October babies. Hope you heal very soon - lovely to have your little man at home now. X

Congratulations on all the new arrivals, ladies :D hope you all recover well and swiftly from your varied birthing experiences and bonding/breastfeeding/adjusting is going well :)

Welcome to the newbies, ellie is the only name I remember I'm afraid :o I'm starting to get further away from the bottom of the list now

Personally, on velour vs cotton sleep suits, I'll go for cotton for the initial months -purely on the basis of how much 'they' tell you new babies can't regulate their own temperature and therefore not to use fleece blankets. Velour sleepsuits seem, to me, to be a step beyond a fleece blanket. No actual scientific basis for these assumptions btw, just my own feelings :p:o

Ellie, 'they' say 16 or so degrees is perfect for a baby, so you're not too far off. My guess is, with the relevant layers on, and the constant up and down of body contact for feeds and burping and so on, baby will do fine :) I'm hoping to get a baby monitor that has a temperature gauge on though, for peace of mind.

Well, we tried putting our (borrowed/handmedown from sibling) cot bed together...and BIL/sis haven't given us the right bolts  No telling whether they'll be able to find said bolts either... Starting to wonder if it's just going to be easier short & long term to buy our own cot bed...?

Felt rather deflated that we couldn't get the cot together yesterday (I want to nest!), but managed to chuck a load of stuff out from the garage today, making more space for the stuff that shouldn't be in our spare room/study -so we should be able to reclaim that room soon too, which has made me feel better again. ;) Feeling a bit like you, fluffy, I want everything unnecessary GONE! :p
