Congratulations Bangton and Lozza :j :j :j I hope you're both doing well despite the births not being entirely straightforward, and that you'll soon be enjoying your LOs at home.

    Ditto!

Come on top 4, let's get you off this list this weekend!
    1. continualdiamond - 23rd September 2013?
    2. Kanichen - 29th September :female:
    3. nessie216 - 3rd October 2013 ?
    4. Tiny_courageous - 8th October 2013
Been awake since 5.00am. Managed to lay in bed for an hour after that, but then gave up.

No plans for the weekend, suggested to OH that we go for a walk today in the hope it might encourage baby to move down. Might buy a birthing ball too - had one but freecycled it along with the tens machine when I was told I would be having a section :(.

    37+4

I said top 4 - looking like we will clear the top 6 this weekend. Good luck all.

Bangton, sorry to hear how it ended up but hope you continue to recover well and get home soon.

I haven't been on for a little while and I've jumped up several places!!

Scary stuff, but at the same time this pregnancy isn't as smoothly as the last one so can't wait to get missy out. Nothing that I can complain about too much though as I can see some of you ladies are struggling or in pain. I've just got a bit of a bad back and I'm really tired which is partially down to the fact we stayed up to watch a stupid film, DH snoring and me getting up to go for wees!

After today I only have 10 more shifts in work! :)
    Got married 13/11/10 :)

Ooof! Baby headbutting me today. Sometimes I feel it at the front and sometimes in my bottom. Both bloomin uncomfortable. Should let it happen to get this cervix open- but instinct when something hurts you is to clench and stop it. Tummy tensing up too- solid as a rock. (Just tightenings)
Nesting instinct is malfunctioning somewhat and has become slave driving of my poor DH- I feel shattered so done little other than buying lots of plants in B&Q and making him plant them. I have kept him fed and watered whilst he works so not totally evil but still feel guilty sitting down while giving orders lol.
Off to book DS into childminders for tomorrow- he is missing them and their grandson who is a few months older than him, "my friend". The grandson's mum is expecting twins in October coincidentally. So although I feel guilty- he has been asking to go and play at their house. Everyone's happy ;)
2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.

Nothing wrong with a bit of slavedriving fluffy! I have been doing the same today after pestering DH for about a week to move some bags that are too heavy for me.

Anyone else in the later stages noticed they have a few spots? I have literally not had a single one since my BFP and now have a cluster on my chin! They are usually hormone related around AF time so dont know if this is maybe common before birth?
Had quite bad cramping this morning for about 3 hours, but had a bath and it eased off :(

  • Hi Ladies,

Can I join you? I am generally a lurker more than a poster on here, but would like someone to discuss pregnancy!

I have been reading for a few weeks, so firstly congratulations to all those who have had their babies already!

I am due 17th Jan with baby boy, our first.
I am 25+1 today. All good so far, was really lucky and not sick in the first 3 months, had a lovely middle trimester but beginning to think that the third will be hardest for me.
I'm a secondary teacher so generally on my feet from 8.30am to 3.40pm, which is starting to be quite tiring and give me a good old backache by the end of the day.
My OH is being lovely with sorting out dinner and things so I can sit/lie down once I get home though.

    Ellie
  • Now I have a few questions which I hope you lovely people may be able to help me with - as first time parents myself and OH feel a little clueless.

Sleepsuits/PJ's for baby - I am due in January, and our house is not especially warm, about 20 deg with heating on, BUT probably drops to 15 at night upstairs as we cannot leave heating on because it is so noisy we cannot sleep. We plan on putting baby in a bodysuit, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog growbag to sleep (or possibly swaddled at first if he prefers!) BUT I don't know if I should be looking at the normal cotton sleepsuits, or the thicker velour ones. Any advice?

Secondly, how many bodysuits/vests and sleepsuits should we actually get in newborn size? If it helps, I am 5ft9, and OH 5ft11, so not likely to have a tiny baby I think. We've been given lots of stuff in 0-3 months size, but they look way too big for a newborn and so we still need to buy stuff for the hospital and the first few weeks.

Can anyone advise on sensible quantities? Working on the theory that I will put a washing machine load on every 2-3 days...as have no tumble drier and will be reliant on drying things on radiators in the winter.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give :)

    Hi Ellie

If your baby is mainly going to be wearing sleepsuits I'd get between 6 and 10 if you are putting on a wash a couple of times a week. You will prob get through 2 a day (babies can be very messy, I'd say do one change in the morning and one at night even if they don't mess up their outfit). If you don't have a dryer I'd say go for 10.

I'm also putting my baby in a bodysuit a sleepsuit and a 2.5 tog bag, but will not use the bag until she's a couple of months old as they're not great for newborns. I'm using cellular blankets before then. I'm not too sure that it matters whether you use a velour or cotton sleepsuit, I will prob use the velour ones on colder days and nights. You can always put an extra blanket over the sleeping bag if it's very cold.

You're supposed to keep the room at 16-20 degrees, would a plug in radiator be an option? We got a mini one by de longhi just for the baby's room for colder nights.
  • Thanks - 2 per day was about what I guessed.
I already have cellular blanket- some new, some hand me downs so we'll be fine until the growbag stage.

We were thinking about an electric heater. Does yours have a thermostat to switch itself on and off when it's too cold, or is it manual only? Baby will be in with us initially, and an electric rad will make OH far too hot, but he'll just have to lump it ;)

Welcome ellie! I'm a first timer aswell, but i think an9i77 has given some good advice there :) i've not got any velour sleepsuits, just cotton but our house is pretty warm anyhow (old house, thick walls)

Paitiently waiting for all these birth announcements we are expecting! :D
