Goodness Continual Diamond - I hope your ok hun. That sounds like a right fall. Well done on missing the bump though !
Bump sizes? I just don't know...some days I feel totally huge and others I feel nicely rounded but in proportion. Physically I feel very unfit..stairs do me in! I'm eating better but I definitely need to exercise more than I am doing!
As for the disinterested partner... yep! When I told him he's clearly not the only one (after reading this) he tells me he will be delighted when he gets here but he's not the one carrying him or feeling him (baby never moves when he touches my belly and he has no patience!). To give him his credit though he has gone mental with sorting the house out. A few weeks ago he was nesting worse than me and I had to say to him I can't keep up with this incessant tampering with the house!
He did tell me off earlier too as I unloaded the dishwasher and didn't notice one of the spoons was caked in old crusty food at the back! He ate off it this morning and took a picture to show me what dastardly deed I'd done! I blamed the dishwasher tablets and got a minor reprimand as it could have been me eating off it when I'm carrying baby! So he does care!!
Anyhow I don't know about anyone else but I can't wait to not be pregnant...!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
A question for those not having their first baby - are you buying new stuff or making do with what you had from last time? I intended to just get by on old stuff but it's not working out that way because a) bump is a girl this time! and b) I've just realised that a few things are old and decrepit and whilst I was making do with DS I really want to upgrade them if I'm now going to have to get a few more years out of them.
Eg the buggy - nothing technically wrong with it apart from a few scratches and bruises, it's a few years old so thinking if I sell it now I will get half the value on ebay (its a bugaboo) rather than wait for it to fall apart completely. Then I can get a shiny new one for half price (see how my creative accounting is working there?)
And the changing unit - plastic padded top part has split and we've tried to tape it up but it doesn't look nice at all so think a new one may be in order.
That's to add to the clothes - feels wrong using boys stuff/blue things for a girl (although the odd sleepsuit is ok). I've not gone too mad this time though - going to try and use sleepsuits as much as possible the first six months. Whilst the little outfits can be cute it's not asthough they really need them.
Hmmm, not very MSE of me but feels wrong to use all hand me downs for this baby!0 -
I have everything to reuse from the last 2 but.. they are almost 2 and 3 so mostly new stuff for the nearly 3 y/o has done my 2 and a grandson or 2.. I was very careful and bought plain white vests and sleepsuits and engendered them using cardigans.. I have bought 3 outfits for this one and that is all.
The changing mat/changing table/pushchair are all still useable. I did sell the old car seat and bought a new one.. I didn't like the old one, simple as..
I'd replace as few items as possible.. aside from the car seat I have probably spent about £50 on this baby. I know we won't be given clothing as gifts which is fine as the last 2 wore nothing but sleepsuits until they were about 6 months old and started weaning and got their breakfast on their sleepsuit.
I do knit lots of cardigans though so we have lots of 'outfits' lol.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Sorry to hear about your fall CD, glad everything's ok though.
TTC40, I felt movements from 16 weeks. DH could feel them at around 20 weeks and they've been visible since around 27ish weeks. At the moment it looks as though she's having some sort of party in there!
Bride2be- I've lots of symathy with your carpal tunnel- I had this a few years ago (not pregnancy related) and had to have operations on both hands to relieve the pain. My left hand is playing up a bit now that I'm pregnant but I remember the rubbish pins and needles during the night. Have you tried any wrist splints? They're pretty good for relieving the pain.
Went to see the MW today, moved to a new area so have to have another booking appt soon too. She was clearly a little panicky about having someone just turn up to the drop in clinic at 31 weeks without notes relevant to local hospital!
Bump is all misshapen today, very noticeably bigger on the right than the left! She keeps messing about with my nice neat round bump!
House still a total mess after the move, need to sort out the babys stuff but still exhausted. When you wash babys things do you use special washing powder? Fabric conditioner? Or did you just change all of your washing to non-bio?0 -
I have my 32 week growth scan tomorrow. I didn't get one at 32 weeks in my last pregnancy but this is a different hospital.

oh dear continualdiamond, glad you are in one piece. hope the swelling goes down soon.
finding I can't be bothered to carry stuff or bend down to pick things up, have a bump in the way now! I've just gotten a dreamgenie pillow so hopefully that will help with my pelvic pain. 26+50 -
Ooh Noangel, we're moving at the beginning of August, nice to know I'll have to do another booking appointment. Does that mean you end up with extra scans?Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Thank you for the information re: GTT's. Hospital booked mine in at 12wk scan as my BMI was just about 30.
Re: movements. I've felt this one properly since 16wks but dd2 felt him and was visible from 18 weeks (hubby away until 22wks). I managed to get an awesome video last week of my belly dancing by itself lol. My first baby I was about 16wks too but I was skin and bone then!

I think the booking appointment is really so that I have a set of notes (each hospital uses different ones) and so that I'm booked into the hospital for the birth. I don't think there's any need for repeat scans for me, I'll be 34 weeks before my booking appt and the reports from my other scans are all available in my old notes. Just make sure you book a booking appt at your new surgery when you arrive as there won't be enough time in a 'normal' appt!0
