Congratulations to benice & jessi

Just popping on quickly to ask about slapped cheek syndrome. Does anyone know an adult who has had it and indeed a pregnant person?

I have very red cheeks (one more than the other) which are >very< hot to touch. I feel (mostly) ok in myself (who knows what are pregnancy niggles or the UTI niggles, or the upset tummy from antibiotics...), no temperature etc. I haven't definitely been in contact with anyone else with the illness, but I work as a facepainter so am in close contact with children most weekends and I wouldn't be aware if anyone did or didn't have the illness as I wouldn't see the majority of the children afterwards.

I rang the NHS helpline thing, who had a doctor ring me back and he said to just keep an eye on it and see if my symptoms worsen.

Am just a bit worried what with being pregnant n all :o

Well I have three hours to go before I have to be at the hospital! Getting very excited now! I've just tried to finish packing my hospital bag and it's not been easy, I seem to have ended up with four bags!
One for me - essential stuff/toiletries/books/change of clothes
One with towels, blankets and dressing gown in as was too bulky to fit in main bag
One for baby when just born with essentials/blankets /clothes etc for DP to bring into theatre
One for baby for next few days with nappies/more clothes
Plus a bag full of milk bottles for baby and food/drink for me to be kept in the car until I need them!

It doesn't help that the hospital I am going to provide NOTHING and I will be in for at least three nights.

Just hope there's enough room in the cubicle to put all this stuff.

I probably won't be online before we're back home, but will post up pics as soon as I can.

Good luck to all the other imminent ladies.

Ahhhh fantastic and congrats jessima and benice! So pleased for you both and hoping your feeling well :D

Should be some news from Welsh soon and then goodness knows where I am on list but too close for comfort!!! :D

Had the worst nights sleep ever last night like many of you others had/are having. To be honest although I have a relatively big bump it's not so huge I feel uncomfortable with it so I've not had problems sleeping other than needing a wee 5 or 6 times a night (which I'm used to). Last night though - whole new ball game. Baby just started moving around none stop for what felt like hours.

I was getting head butted down below, punched in my sides, kicked up top! I woke my OH up 20 times and he was worried I was distressed but I was just frustrated! So it all went awful and we are knackered today! Managed to get out and get things done though but now I think I'm going to pull duvet downstairs and watch some telly whilst my OH watches football on laptop!

On a positive note we had some curtains made for baby's room and I am just in total love with them as we hung them today!! I love baby's room it's so beautiful (used to be a spare room come dumping ground so amazing to see it as an actual room).

Oh and Lola - I hate to admit it but that will probably be me as I give birth ' where's my bronzer and make up bag' :o I might let go but I doubt it!!!!!

Congrats on the recent births and good luck to to those going for induction/c-section!

There seems to be a 'baby drought' for a little while and then they all seem to arrive at once and everyone jumps up on the list!

We're at the "made at Xmas" baby time of year atm though aren't we ;)

Congrats benice, glad you got the birth you wanted sounds lovely. Congrats jessima, hope you make a speedy recovery.

Just back from shopping with mum, after saying I wouldn't buy anything I've come home with 6 newborn vests and 4 sleep suits. All are girly and pink, I just couldn't resist as they were in the sale

  • Congrats benice and jess!

Just had a 2 hour nap despite having a lie in this morning. Starting to get back pain and can feel baby starting to push downwards a little, but at the moment he's just kicking me in the side while we're watching the football.

Just ordered a couple of these (one for each car), so I can see the baby when driving - hope they are not too much of a distraction!

    Congrats Jess.

Good luck an9i, I have 3 bags packed. Like you, I have an 'immediate' bag for the baby & then another one.

Mine doesn't have any clothes in for me as the loose/ comfy stuff which I would want in it is also what I am wearing at the moment. Maybe I need to let go of one top & trousers & a nursing bra so I feel packed.

A colleague told me the other day she put a pack of mars bars in her bag which was packed several weeks before - but then kept eating them so had to replace them a few times! I have some Tuc crackers in mine so not so tempting.

I had a nursing top arrive yesterday so will probably wash that & put it in. I have been looking for some nursing cami/ vest tops to go under other things but as I am a size 20/22 I have struggled to find any.

On a positive note, still haven't put any extra weight on in pregnancy so look forward to the baby weight loss!
