Hmmm, I've been thinking about a physiological third stage too - it's not routine at my hospital but some of the midwives swear by it whereas others are more sceptical. I'm sold on delayed cord clamping (with the obvious medical / emergency exceptions) but think I need to give more thought about whether or not to have the injection.
Booked in for my WC and flu vaccinations on the same day - does this mean there's going to have to be one in each arm (I'd presume so, but you never know)? If so, do we think the WC will be more painful and should be in the arm I don't sleep on?
Having another set of bloods done next week as I'm very pale and tired so they're querying anaemia, although my last set of results were really good. Vomiting appears to have settled down post-cyclizine so an early night for me
*hugs* Bangton, sounds like there's a lot weighing on your mind at the moment. I hope your LO arrives soon (in as painless and healthy a way possible) and that you can spend some time relaxing as a family. I know what you mean about midwives though - I've had the same MW throughout, but have only actually seen her once as she constantly sends students in to see me (she presumes I won't have any questions / can point out if they're doing something wrong I think) but although I work there, I'm still a first-time Mum and I'd rather have some kind of continuity. I'm thinking of withdrawing consent to see students, but don't want to come across as a total cow
It doesn't help that they're always behind and very rushed too.
B2B, I can't believe how poor some of the thread's OH employers are! Hopefully everything goes to plan and your ball bouncing (:rotfl:) worked its magic.
MV, Lola is a little stunner!Seeing pics of babies makes me even more excited to meet my little lady.
Thanks to everyone who's given advice on slings, I'm going to see if there's a library nearby where we can give them a try. I'm really keen on the idea, but given my dodgy back and joints then DH will probably end up doing most of the heavy work :rotfl: I'll have to broach the idea with him and see how he takes it!
Abis - your DD sounds like a little character! I'm glad she's all recovered now, but your story did make me chuckleI must admit that looking after my little nephew occasionally makes me wonder what on earth we've let ourselves in for, but there's no going back now! I'm in awe of the ladies who have a LO and are pregnant again - I can't imagine being this exhausted and sicky but still having to look after an energetic kiddie.

Mv: Lola is gorgeous! X
Thanks for your post BabaMoose, very usefulI'm hoping to get a sling for early weeks as my R&R isn't suitable from newborn.
My free baby show tickets have arrived, very impressed. Now I need to hope DH isn't working that weekend!
I'm still waiting to hear whether I will have an elective section or not, apparently I won't know until I'm 35-36 weeksseems ridiculous. I want to know whether I need to buy RLT, EPO, etc as I've heard to avoid RLT if you are having a section? It's also mucking up my maternity leave as I was finishing work at 36 weeks but I could have a section from 37-39 weeks so potentially only a week or so to get organised. However if I start leave any sooner and have a natural birth I will probably go 2 weeks overdue again.

Well I appear to be in labour :j
Woke up at 2am with contractions and came up to hospital around 4.30am. Was 4cm at that point so hopefully not much longer to go!0 -
Well done Nikki - I'm excited for you and also a little jealous as I have to wait til Monday (at least I know it's happeing then - planned section)
Bangton I am in limbo too! I keep hoping the little dear will make an early appearance as I am now officially in the drop zone (38w) and with it being my second, have heard they can come earlier.
I think under the old rules for diabetics they would have done the section today, but they have changed since my last baby to 39 weeks although due to medical probs I'm having her at 38+3.
Ah well not long to go now and it's DPs last day at work before baby. I'm being admitted on Sunday night so it's really just two and a half more days to go.0 -

Well we are back!
Baby William was born on Wednesday evening at 19:48 after his forced eviction.
So far so good, I recommend hundreds of maternity pads and a lot of muslins. I swear we have no clean ones left already. If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
Well looks as though I will soon be joining you Niki! Woke up about two with cramps and (sorry if TMI) a bloody show, into hospital about 6 but only 1cm dilated, so opted to come home for just now (we stay five mins drive from hospital so not a problem). I'd rather be at home in front of my own tv and in my own bed! Contractions are still a bit irregular, anyone got any tips for making sure they keep going? After all my stressing yesterday about bean being late coz of DHs work/holidays, I would hate for them to stop now!0

Congrats Helen!0

B2b I would say keep moving, as much as you can while having contractions. The day before I went into proper labour I had a sweep done and was already 1cm so me and oh went shopping and then a walk round the park. Granted my labour didn't start to next early morning but I'm sure the constant movement helped. GoodluckNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0
