  • Morning all!

Good luck for this afternoon Jess!

After getting excited last night about my show starting to come away, nothing since. Did have a few cramps through the night though. So dragged myself out of bed this morning, been cleaning windows since half 9, and will be back on the exercise ball once I'm done! Got midwife this afternoon, going to ask for a sweep even though I'm only 39+6 - hope she agrees. Getting annoyed with DH as he's quite happy to be on holiday from tomorrow, it'll be a different story if bump doesn't arrive til the end of his annual leave and he's to go back when she's only 4 days old!!
  • Got a problem with me report the post. Otherwise tough. Apparently I'm fair pop for personal attacks on this site. Good job I'm a big girl huh who doesn't need to run to the mods huh?)

First of all I haven't reported you, I don't care enough to select "report" and second of all "mature much?"

Talk about having a pop, look at your previous post to the lady that said the word awful! That's "having a pop"

Anyway I'm bored of this already so next time I will just skip your posts and hope any pregnant ladies not wishing to be scared do also. There's a reason why people react to your posts and you've just yet to work that out!

And by the way I remember being on this thread with you when you were pregnant with your second and I remember you clearly telling us about Erin's birth and everything to do with social services! So you haven't always told the funny side!

Please do not reply to this I really have better things to do with my time

Vavin - Don't take my word for it (google it, phone them etc) but Aptimal is exactly the same as cow and gate... a woman posted on the Moneysaving mums about this I belive as she had called up saying the shop was out of her usal formula and they told her to use cow and gate instead...she asked if it was ok to just change forumla like that (as for those who have experimented with dif ones it does affect baby) and they told her it was exactly the same but aptimal advertise more - so they charge more - for simply the same product but its deemed to be 'the best' because thats how they advertise it.

OH went out before DD was born and bought a few of the ready made cartons of Aptamil. I have no problem with using another formula brand, we just used Aptamil for DS so it's more habit. I haven't bought a tub of the powder yet.

  • Must get a birthing ball sorted, have some amazon vouchers for doing surveys so will get on the case later :)

I've heard the same re aptamil vs cow and gate. Going with cow and gate i think!
  • We gave DD1 a small amount of formula early on when I was very sore and DH bought cow and gate because they'd given us a free toy cow so the marketting worked!

I used Cow and Gate with both of mine (actually used Farleys with DS1 but they stopped making it) and they were fine. I figured they've been doing baby products for years so wasn't concerned about it being cheaper than Aptamil.
  • According to Which all the different formula has almost identical ingredients as there are strict laws defining what should be in them and that therefore no particular formula is "better".

To be fair though women have just as much right to post their negative experiences as well as positive.

Personally I like to read all experiences from the positive to the negative, that way I feel fully informed and prepared.

As it happens I didn't have a positive experience with DS2 (not so much from mistreatment, more the fact that he was bigger than he should have been for my body), and had I read about only fluffy experiences I would have felt quite isolated and as if I was a failure somehow.

I appreciate not all women feel the same and would rather not read about the less positive experiences, each to their own.

Awwwwww, MV what a beautiful baby girl you have :happyhear

Amyloofoo - Sorry to hear the sickness is back :( If it makes you feel better about your box room not being decorated - I'm now over 31 weeks and our nursery is still a junk room! I am working hard at clearing it and trying to sell the various things I have hoarded over the last 13 years of having a luxury of a spare room. I've cleared around 8 bin bags full, and made £250+ from selling things so far - it just is slow going at times. I have some before and during pics, and when I finally get my 'after' pic I will post them to show you :D

Jessi - Not long to wait now for your cuddles - good luck with it all :)

AFM - I still have a UTI!! It keeps coming and going. I'm on amoxicillin again. Doc said it most likely will be around til I give birth now >sigh<. The antibiotics proved effective against the bacteria when tested, but as soon as I finish the antibiotics a couple of days later the infection is back. It keeps wearing me out from time to time :o

My daughter (age 7) also decided to get her head stuck in between a concrete post and a brick wall yesterday!!! Are you sure yous all really want children?! :rotfl: She was quite hysterical for a little while and demanding the fire brigade be called etc etc :rotfl: All was fine once she calmed down and stopped trying to yank it out (thus hurting herself and making her scream and cry even more!), but I soooo could have done without that bit of drama!!!

TTC # 2 since Oct 2011 - good things come to those who wait :o

 2013 is going to be our lucky year

Yes, if I'd known that hospital staff were so uninformed about best practice and that it is common for them to do what they want regardless of what you've said I would have planned differently and had a better first birth and I wouldn't say that mine was particularly out of the ordinary bad or anything - just that everything bad came from poor hospital treatment. My second birth would have been fine even without all my planning/preparation etc because the MWs were really lovely and respectful and obviously more knowledgable/well informed but who you get and how good they are is just the luck of the draw whereas I can rely on my own planning and preparation.
