Maybe I have just been forgotten then as I won't see my normal midwife Until after baby is born :-(

I want to make sure that DH tells me what gender baby is & I would like to cut the cord myself if possible!
I just wrote mine myself. First time the MW did it at 38 weeks (basically just read through what I'd put and said it was fine), second time the MW thought that having asked me whether I wanted to keep the placenta and whether I intended to breastfeed when she did my home assessment counted as doing my birth plan. It's pretty irrelevent whether your MW sees it really as it's there to tell the MWs you have at the actual time of labour/birth what you want although obviously if you have particular things you want to discuss with her or questions you want to ask then you do need her to do it with you.

I definitely want my baby cleaned before he/she is placed on me. Sounds awful but after a somewhat difficult birth with DS2 having this little wet, slimy, screaming baby placed on me was not that pleasant.

All I could think was eww, whilst at the same time wondering what was going on down below. Whether it was the birth or the slimy baby which caught me off guard I don't know, but I'm happy for this one to be rubbed down a bit first!
Doesn't sound awful at all. I had a weird thing about cleanliness/germs in my first pregnancy so the idea of it completely grossed me out. (And second one was a water birth so completely different scenario as we were both wet anyway.)

I am planning on breast feeding...I probally wouldn't of used the word gross but I am on the same level. Alot of woman like breast feeding for the bonding but for one, I am not someone who can just get my boobs out and feed the baby (not that I think its wrong for people to do this but I just personally would not be comfortable) and second with DS he used to make this grunting noise when I fed him, he wanted feeding round the clock and I was absoulty exhausted...and this noise he used to make used to annoy the hell out of me.... I can't even explain it I just didn't like being 'on demand' having this baby make animal noises at me was just making it 10 times worse. I guess I just started to hate breast feeding.

I don't miss it for the world, but I will try and breast feed as long as possible...for nothing else if not to get my body back to normal abit faster. :rotfl:
I breastfed my eldest for nearly three years and am still breastfeeding the toddler and I still don't get the whole "wonderful bonding" thing. I do it for the practical and health benefits and whilst I don't hate it (well currently it's not so great as pregnancy makes it rather uncomfortable) I certainly don't love it or anything.

    Debt-free and Proud!
And the vomiting returns :o Why is it always on busy days? Oh well, going to try and sip some water and take a cyclizine. Hopefully I'll manage to get out and about later and get some tidying done - hope everyone else is well, especially the boldies.

ETA: Good luck Jessi! Hope it goes well and you'll get to see your lovely LO soon.

  • *springing back in!*

Just on the whole BF'ing thing, I'm not a fan of it either, I do it out of a sense of duty to LO, but there have been sooo many times recently where I have been so frustrated and fed up I've screamed at OH to 'go and get a bottle of formula..I'm not doing this anymore!!'
I haven't gone there yet, but I have Aptamil ready and waiting and have no qualms about stopping BFing as soon as I really feel I no longer want to do it.

It should be the way that EVERY woman has HER OWN CHOICE about BF'ing or not, and no one should judge or be made to feel guilty.

I don't get this whole 'bonding experience' thing either. Maybe I'm just not an earth mother! :rotfl:

My munchkin is already a month old..I can't believe how fast the time has gone. This was her yesterday :D

Good luck to everyone, and I am lurking for birth announcements! :D

  • Vavin - Don't take my word for it (google it, phone them etc) but Aptimal is exactly the same as cow and gate... a woman posted on the Moneysaving mums about this I belive as she had called up saying the shop was out of her usal formula and they told her to use cow and gate instead...she asked if it was ok to just change forumla like that (as for those who have experimented with dif ones it does affect baby) and they told her it was exactly the same but aptimal advertise more - so they charge more - for simply the same product but its deemed to be 'the best' because thats how they advertise it.

Morning. Popped to Asda this morning for milk, £30 later - how does that even happen? Oh well at least I'm now semi stocked up for when the baby arrives. Got loads of clothes for my 4 year old that were reduced so that is a bonus (and the cutest little tights with hearts on for the baby!)

Got my membrane sweep at 4.30, really hoping I don't go into labour today though, SIL has been bleeding since Sunday and has her scan today, don't think it will be good news. As selfish as it may sound I don't want to feel that I can't celebrate the birth if it is bad news. I know that either way the baby is coming and I can't do anything if she has lost the baby but I still feel like the bad person IYKWIM?

On the BF'ing topic, I wont be doing it. Much to my OHs disgust. I attempted it with my son and it was an awful experience for me, (screaming child and next to no help in the hospital, I felt that they thought I was just a silly little girl - was 21 but looked 16) I understand the pro's etc but that experience makes me so uncomfortable and I don't want to pass that feeling on to the baby so formula it will be I'm afraid.

Apparently 'Aptimal' do all the research which is why the price is higher. Cow and Gate just benefit from it and have the slightly lower price :rotfl:but they are identical.
