  • Ugh, cannot sleep at all!

Had lovely weekend with DH, went out for day on Sat then out for dinner Sat evening. Then yesterday we had visit from SIL and her partner, which was lovely as they get married next weekend and its looking unlikely we'll make it. Then me and DH just chilled out with DVD and had early night as DH working at 4am. Except I can't sleep now!

Re visits at home, im 39 weeks and not had one, thank goodness. Our rather large rescue black lab does NOT like strangers, and barks and growls if there's someone he doesn't know in the house. Its bad enough if it's friends who don't know the dog but can just imagine it with a complete stranger! At least DH will be off work after the birth to take the dog out for a walk when all the visitors get too much for him.

Feel so sorry for the overdue ladies, im 39 and 3 today and really fed up. Feet, hips and pelvis are so sore, and heartburn is driving me mad. Bump keeps being a rascal, she's been v quiet all day and I was starting to worry about how little she's been moving, until I got into bed and now getting kicked to bits! Really can't wait to meet this little bean! One of my friends is due to be an aunty any day now, her poor sister is currently 11 days overdue and induction isn't booked until the end of this week as the hospital is so busy - at this stage, this is my worst nightmare!
  • With the furniture thing - what we did was get stuff from mainly Ikea (the ubiquitous Malm drawers which we've just put drawer catches on this weekend funnily enough now we've got a monster whose favourite hobby is emptying out anything that she posssibly can do)... then got a second matching set off Freecycle to put the second child's clothes in so they coordinate!

I found if I went for the white coloured furniture rather than the wooden coloured it meant I could mix and match stuff from wherever was cheapest fairly easily, as opposed to having to find the same shade of beech or birch or whatever.

Never had a pre-birth HV visit - one of the perks of going into prem labour I guess! Waiting for the phonecall from her today though since we were in A+E with the eldest at the weekend after she swallowed a button so I know I'll be due the nose poking phonecall.

Labour vibes to all those overdue/due.

Took over an hour last night for me to get to sleep as I was having heart palpitations. I know its a side effect of my medication and the pregnancy but at 1:30am it was just annoying. We've definitely got our first hypnobirthing course session tonight, looking forward to OH feeling a bit more engaged in the pregnancy, even if he thinks it's a bit crackers.

Off to research baby car seats, liking the idea of the Be5afe sleeper but need to look into it a but more first

I'm wondering if I'll get a home visit. Hope not – our house is a tip at the moment and we'll be having work done on our bathroom and hall at the end of the month!

Hope you enjoy hypnobirthing, kerri! I finished my course last week. I'm a bit skeptical but I quite enjoyed it and I'm hoping the breathing exercises and relaxation techniques will help. Just need to do more practising now so that things become second nature.

I've heard of the Be Safe sleeper – looks interesting but how does it work?! Surely the baby will fly out?! Oh, just watched a video and I see the baby is strapped in too! Wow, it looks huge and the way it's strapped in is unusual. Don't think that would work in my little Micra!

I've got a MW home visit today. She said it was to check we had a suitable home to bring the baby to.

I know she's only doing her job but seems like a waste of resource. Mind you, knowing some of the local areas she covers I'm sure she sees some homes of concern.

If she goes into the nursery she will just see something like a mothercare stockroom as there's no furniture. It's coming tomorrow. There are just bags and piles of baby stuff. Looking forward to getting it sorted.

  • Morning! Extra day off for me today as it's a public holiday in Edinburgh so my work is closed :D Have had a lovely, but busy weekend with some friends who were visiting so i think i will just be taking it easy today.

I haven't heard any mention of a home visit from the health visitor yet... Suppose there is still time though. I was thinking exactly the same as bride2b, we have a 2 year old Dachshund who gets very barky when strangers come into the house. He is harmless but it hardly gives the best impression!

Hubby did the great north run yesterday. 2hrs 26mins. So proud of him! (Didn't beat my PB though lol)
We are both walking like cripples today :( him due to running and me due to walking for miles, spending all day on my feet & sat cramped in the back of a car for the 4hr drive home. And I'm back at work this morning. Think I'm having a woe is me moment lol.

Happy labour vibes to those due/over due

I havent had a home visit, due date is tomorrow so doubt it will happen now.

Our house is a mess atm but because we will be moving to our own (I.e. not rented) house soon I have no motivation to do anything about it.

Been feeling crappy and had niggly pains since 6.30 this morning. Hopefully the start of something, dont want to get too excited incase its a false alarm lol.

Consultant has just called me and the heart palpitations are because my medication (although too low before) is now too high, oh the joys of pregnancy. At least the symptoms should reduce in the next day or so :)

  • Well done to your DH amy_86! I can't run at all so I really admire runners!
Have had to take my engagement and wedding rings off :( fingers are all swollen! Had a bit of a struggle getting them off so am now afraid to put them back on incase they get stuck...

    35+2

Took mine off at about 32 weeks :( really sad not wearing them anymore so I made hubby buy me a cheap ring from Primark so I have something to wear on that finger!!:rotfl:
I managed to get my first to turn really easily in pregnancy at a similar stage to you. Second didn't but must've turned in labour as she came out the "right" way round. Supposedly that can make labour much longer but mine was under four hours so it definitely didn't give me a long labour.

That's really good to know, thanks!
I keep trying to work out where baby's back is by where hiccups are felt, but they seem to move around!
Midwife appointment this afternoon so fingers crossed for good news.

Does anyone have any Ikea furniture? This is first time we have bought furniture from there so I was wondering just how durable it will be.

I love Ikea furniture! We have the Pax wardrobes and Malm drawers too, it's really easy to put together (I did a lot of it by myself!) and it is very sturdy. Also comes in a nice selection of colours.

Recently bought myself a Pello armchair as a feeding chair for our room and it's so simple and comfy!

35 weeks today exactly! 35 days to go!!
