Hi all
Hope everyone is well and that the due/overdue ladies aren't getting too impatient.
I spent a few days in hospital last week, it was a good practice run for when I go in for my section in 2 weeks and got my toddler familiar with visiting me there before the shock of his new sibling arriving so not all bad.
Just want to get the damn thing over and done with now - even though I'm not due to have my section until 27th I am so close to the end now, just want to hurry it along. although from memory the 'calm before the storm' part is to be enjoyed, not rushed as once baby arrives I'll probably hark back to these days. Although all I seem to be doing to fill my time, which is not very MSE at all, is buying baby clothes. I've tons of the stuff now. At least I can ebay them after the baby grows out of them which is quite mse - made a lot from my son's clothes that way.
Should get date for my section confirmed on Tuesday - there's a chance they'll bring it forward which is fine by me, although this could mean that this time next week I'll have a baby - eek!0 -
Starting to feel as though I won't get to due date now as baby seems to be testing out dropping and then coming back up again. Does anyone else have that? I can feel intense pressure at times on my pelvis and then nothing at other times. So I'll think he has dropped and then think nope he isn't coming! But I have very tingly boobs and Braxton Hicks a good few times a day. See midwife on Wednesday where she is bound to say he isn't engaged as I thought I was feeling pressure at 36 weeks and he was totally and utterly free!
Tbh I had this but I don't anymore lasted about 2-3 days where baby seemed to keep dropping and I was walking around like a penguin...then it was right back in my ribs again..wasnt sure what I prefered lol, the midwife didn't belive me as it wasn't dropped when I saw her and she said it most likey wont drop till labour being my 2nd.. *shurgs*
As for Ikea furiture esp with drawers I find Ikea do these really good pull out draws (Its hard to explain but normal draws 'fit into the sides' where Ikea do ones that slide in and out on perhaps metal? I didn't put it together tbh) but I spent £200 on a three piece set for DS from argos and because the draws are 'to shape' i.e all wood and pull out ones...they feel stiff and don't think it will really last where Ikea ones are just...well I just love them personally.Got quite a big white one for £45 for the new baby and my OH has had his since we moved in and its still going not sure how much that one was...anyway I am rambling!!
Hope your baby pops out soon Welsh and thanks everyone for the replys but I do feel sooo much better now :-) Still got that pit stomach feeling of not having any sleep but its not that bad that I can't get off the sofa anymore!!

All our furniture is ikea, we've found it's nice and sturdy even with the pretty cheap stuff, and I like how so much of it matches even when you go across the different ranges with a lot of the colours you can choose from being identical. The instructions are usually pretty clear as well, certainly better than ones other companies provide!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

We have those large Pax wardrobes and the popular chest of drawers (malm I think), both ranges are going strong after 5 years. They also re-sell very well, which for me is a plus, as being MSE when I replace with solid oak (in the far future), I would like to be able to make some cash from the old stuff.
My friend's nursery is the lovely white IKEA stuff with the opaque fronts, these seem to have lasted very well and have seen more abuse than ours.
The problem with IKEA is either getting it all home (imagine a wardrobe in a Peugeot 305!) or paying the crazy delivery fees... that's if they will come down the road... apparently our old house was 'inaccessible'... despite the bin men managing every week.
On a side note, I'm STILL pregnant!:eek: How is this possible? It's nice to read I'm not the only one though. However, tomorrow is my last baby free day in the house, so I am sure to be cleaning and sorting and seeing things in a new light before my induction on Tuesday.
I'm scared witless of the induction, I read that 1 in 3 end in a C-section and I think being fatter that a scar would heal awfully and leave me with a lumpy tummyhas anyone else who's a size 16+ had a C-section and was the scar ok or is it inevitable that I will get a lumpy line? (DON'T google 'csection scar' and try to second guess what you might look like post-surgery! it's a bad bad bad idea). This isn't helped by my new tiger stripes which are growing by the day... my bikini days are over before they have begun

Thanks girls
I was going to ask the question before I bought them but then I reasoned they were £80 - if they last a year or so it's not a major expenditure. If they last longer it would be nice though!!! They seemed sturdy enough in the shop. In fact I thought they were on a par with Mamas and Papas stuff which is more than double the cost.
Sister's coming to put them up tomorrow for me so I can finally put baby stuff away.
Health Visitor is coming for first pre birth visit on Wednesday so I feel obliged to make sure the house and me are looking presentable. Can never be ar5ed to have people in my house whom I don't know! I suppose I'll know her soon enough though. How long do HV's actually keep coming round?
Hope you've all had a nice weekend0 -

Is it the norm in every area to have a pre birth visit now?? I never had one with DS (nearly 2). I dont want someone snooping around my house :rotfl:Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

Well our's is coming round next year for DD's 2.3 year check!!
I've never had a pre-birth visit before, can't see that happening now.
Done a lot of walking today and really feeling it now. DD at nursery tomorrow morning but I need to hot foot it over to the hospital to get my bloods done so doubt I will get much rest. Hubby went to bed at 8.30pm - lucky for some. If I went that early I would just lie there. Got a rhubarb crumble and a tub of custard in the fridge with my name all over it but seriously cba to get up and heat it up. I might just have another muffin.
Hope everyone has had a good weekend

Not sure but I know I read someone else was waiting on a pre birth visit on this thread the other day.
I had a midwife visit at home as well in my earlier days of pregnancy and I know then she had a little green form where she ticked off questions like 'were we suffering poverty?' ' Are we a positive impact on society?' etc. OH and I were both asked our job titles. I know that could be relevant to me being the one that was pregnant but didn't really see why OH's job was a question.
So I don't know what this pre birth visit is for but I was guessing it could be along the same lines. It's to be hoped I don't go into labour on that day though as she rang from a private number and never told me her name so I have no idea how to get back in touch. Assume midwife would know but if your going to make an appointment with a 38 week pregnant women you reap what you sow when you don't tell them your contact details!
Funnily enough Wednesday is the day my OH has been convinced I'll give birth on (even pre dating scan) so it really will be a shock if he's right. Mind you we were both convinced we were having a girl for 20 weeks of the pregnancy and that was wrong so we are hardly gifted! :rotfl:
Edited to add - miffymoo - I didn't think I was getting a home visit and she rang on Thursday to book it in (me being 37 weeks) so you never know you may get that to look forward to!0 -

Hi there - just lurking but thought I'd answer this one
I was definitely 16+ when I had my LO. My c-section scar is barely noticeable now (3 years later) and even at the time people (midwives etc) commented on how neat it was! I've struggled to get rid of my tummy above the scar, but that's the only problem I've had. Other friends of mine who had sections (and many who were much thinner than me) have had varying experiences - I think it might be down to who is operating.
Good luck, hopefully you'll be one of the 2/3 who have a successful induction, I know lots who have.0 -
I had a health visitor visit last Wednesday. She asked questions about our family tree, any health issues with parents/siblings etc, how I was feeling (any chance I could get postnatal depression etc) and gave me leaflets on baby groups, when/where to get baby weighed. Was round for 45mins but only in living room.
